After looking at his status window, Mrit closed it and then proceeds to thoroughly erase any evidence of his from the building.
From the bed in the room in which he slept soundly to the bath room to the hall where he killed the guild master and the advisor, Mrit perfectly wiped away everything, not leaving single evidence behind.
After about 1 hour, the floor and every corner of the room sparkled like all of it was made of glass. Wiping away the sweat off his forehead, Mrit looked satisfied.
“Phew... All evidences are erased now. Now it’s time to leave this forest.”
Looking back in his brief time here, Mrit realized the things he obtained here.
From the power of the sun to the little legendary Totopa as a companion to a pile of gold to load of experience to a mysterious egg, this forest provided more than Mrit could even realise.
And now, it is time to bid farewell to the giving forest.
“Again as I wished, if I cannot go to my world after all this, I would like to live here then. This forest has something mysterious that is soothing my soul.”
The forest had somehow captured his heart. Something unnatural about this forest didn’t let him leave the forest.
“After countless number of unwanted killing and battles to ultimately gaining a new life, I don’t want it go the way the previous one went.”
In earth, the living environment was declining at a critical rate. Nowhere can something this beautiful be found on earth anymore.
The age of the dark times, the age of apocalypse to the ultimate doom of the humanity, Mrit saw it all with his both eyes.
“I don’t want the same apocalypse to befall on this world. Not when I have these two powers.”
With a goal this heavy, with his fist clenched, Mrit accepted the challenge as he walked outside, while promising to himself.
“Just you wait. Death or the goddess, I will not let this world face what I have experienced.”
***
Outside the building, Mrit walked to the back of the building according to the memories of the guild master.
At a corner there, he found a flat stone with strange runes inscribed on it lying on the ground.
“This must be the teleport gate. I saw them using it to teleport to a nearby village in the memories.”
But then, a problem arises. Even though he found a way to get out of this forest now, Mrit doesn’t even know how to operate it.
“How the hell am I supposed to even operate this thing?”
Looking at the stone lying in front of him, nothing came to his mind as this was his first time to even look at something like this.
“Earth never had this technology nor the magic was that advanced there.”
With the devils entering earth, many technological feats were achieved, but they were insignificant.
As the devils slowly encroached the lands, they also tried to destroy the technology of humanity.
“I remember that the world launched nuclear missile on the devils but because of that, the devils got more cautious.”
“And the fact that humanity got dependent on the items dropped by monster or the system made it even worse.”
Various weapons and items dropped from the monsters or devils which had more power than the technology they had. And so, an age came when humanity stopped investing in their technology.
“But damn!! This world seriously had way different things but at the same time very similar things.”
“How the hell can they not make this simpler to operate when they can make showers and bathing stuff?”
Mrit circled around the stone while complaining about the predicament he was in.
No matter what tried to do, nothing happened. Just then, something came to his mind.
“Wait a minute!! If this thing is operated by magic, then wouldn’t this work if I use my magic on it?”
Curious by his idea, Mrit tried to use his magic on the stone.
“Let’s see if this work. Phew...”
With that, Mrit pushed his left hand out and tried to pass the mana inside of him to the stone.
The stigma of dark sun shined with dense, black mana spewed out of his hand and got absorbed inside the stone.
The runes on the stone which were blue moments ago glowed black.
“This is working!! Now don’t mess up and activate like a good boy.”
As he said that, something happened in the stone as it started to tremble.
“O-Oii!! What is happening?”
The dark mana that entered the stone now escaped and rushed towards Mrit’s left hand. The dark sun reacted and absorbed the mana completely.
The stone, now devoid of any mana cracked from between and the runes lost the light and turned black too. After that, the stone shattered and turned into simple pieces.
“NOOO!!!”
Looking at the stone, Mrit screamed loudly while trying to reassemble the stones. But it turned to be futile as the stone got one again.
The teleportation stone was gone, forever.
“Noo!! How the hell will I escape this forest? FUCK! I shouldn’t have trusted the power of death!!”
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
Mrit started cursing the power of death and his bad luck but before he could continue, something popped in his view.
[The runes and the formula of the teleportation magic have successfully been copied.]
[You now have access to the knowledge of teleportation magic.]
“What!!”
Mrit rubbed his eyes two times, but cannot remove the absurd thing he is seeing in front of him.
The system showed notified him of the teleportation magic being copied to him, leaving him speechless.
“The teleportation magic is copied? Is that even possible?”
He was flabbergasted by the thing that just happened. Then, the system of death appeared.
[Owner, you should have realised that this power and me cannot ever betray you. Your existence rules over magic itself. This simple magic is just one of a infinite thing among the knowledge you had before.]
“I had this knowledge? What nonsense are you spouting?”
This was absurd for Mrit as he don’t remember having the knowledge of teleportation.
“You are saying I had the knowledge of this, but I don’t remember having the knowledge of teleportation."
[It was because of two reasons. First is being you losing the body of death and your status as a god. You are now very weak and can’t control the power of death properly.]
Continuing, the system of death further explained.
[Before me and the system of the sun got activated, you had some of your knowledge with you. But after that, for your well being, the knowledge was locked deep inside you.]
“But then how do I remember shadow steps and mind read like skills.”
[But did you remember them when you first got the stigma of sun and death?]
“That... I don’t know...”
Looking back, Mrit never gave much thought on this. He doesn’t remember having the knowledge of the skills when he was at the cave.
“Then, was it because...”
Mrit looked at the system as he got the hint. The system of death then spoke, confirming Mrit’s theory.
[You are thinking correctly owner. It was because of you levelling up.]
“That’s why... I just felt like i know the shadow steps, but never gave much thought that from where it came from.”
[The knowledge of the skills you gained is nothing in front of the godly skills you had. The more you level up, the more you will find yourself with knowledge of higher skills you once had.]
“Ahh... now that’s understandable. But then what is the other reason?”
[The other reason is that the teleportation skill not that great.]
“What are you even talking about? The ability to jump to anywhere I think is the best.”
Mrit refuted the system of death. The teleportation ability he gained was something he found more interesting, but on his excitement, the system threw cold water.
[Owner should check the description of the skill first.]
“Hmm?”
Following the system, Mrit opened and looked at the description of the skill he just gained.
[Teleportation (Legendary)
You can teleport to a place you have once visited.
MP Consumption: 500
Cool down Time: 7 days]
Mrit’s face which was brimming with excitement is now crunched up in disgust.
“The hell?! 500 MP? And the cool down time is one week? The fuck is this?”
His disappointment was evident on his slumped face as the excitement which was plastered on his face is now gone and is replaced with a look full of disgust and disappointment.
“How the hell is this a legendary skill? Who the hell is making this skills, I have to meet that bastard’s manager.”
[Now calm down, owner. A Karen’s souls might control you at this pace.]
[Jokes aside, you might not remember, but there was a skill that can let you travel anywhere on earth without any time limit. The skills you had in your arsenal cannot be compared to these low level skills.]
[That’s why I am urging you to accept the power of death. In this unknown world, you cannot survive with these mediocre skills.]
[I agree with your desire to live but you haven’t mastered the power of sun properly. So I request you to accept your rightful power.]
The system of death urged Mrit to accept the power of death. Looking back at the enemies he faced, everyone had the power to crush Mrit at anytime.
Mrit isn’t someone that has levelled up that much and only because of some equipments, Totopa and past experiences that Mrit was able to face his enemies till now.
So, the system of death, after analyzing everything urged Mrit to accept death.
But for someone who has experienced death and the horrible things he had to do because of it, Mrit decided to never accept the system’s advice.
“I will say it again. I want to live, like any normal person. I never wanted this power or anything. And now, I have an alternative that I can use while still being alive.”
“I would like to die and get the powers of death than to willingly accept it.”
Mrit stood with his words without getting tempted by the powers of death.
“And it’s not like I am ignoring the power of death. I will continue to use both of the powers but I will be a necromancer now, not the god of death. Not anymore.”
And so Mrit finished his conversation and the system of death retreated before muttering something.
[You still haven’t realised who you really are. The day you will understand your true self is not that far.]
After whispering quietly in the air without Mrit hearing, the system of death vanished in the air.
***
After his conversation with the system of death, Mrit prepared himself as he tried to activate teleportation system.
“Now, let’s teleport to the village I saw in the memories.”
Mrit then focus and tried to activate the skill but-
“Huh? Why is it not working?”
Nothing happened. He just stood there and the skill didn’t activate at all.
“What the hell? Am I doing something wrong? Why is it not working?”
He tried to activate it a number of times, but nothing seemed to even work.
Sometimes he tried to chant, or tried to do some poses while shouting the skill name. He even posed like using instant transmission but still nothing happened.
He shouted the skill name too, but nothing. Nothing ever happened.
“Is there something wrong?”
Just as he was pondering about the problem, the system of the sun appeared.
[Owner, the skill might require some coordinates or something? Please refer to the memories to find more about how to activate the skill.]
“Why didn’t I think of that!! This might be possible. Let’s check the memories.”
With the system’s advice, Mrit then sat in a lotus position and meditated. The memories he tried to suppress finally were left free and flooded his mind.
“Ughh!!”
The overflow of memories caused Mrit a severe headache but he sat still and tried to look through the unstoppable river of memories within his mind.
After a while, he opened his eyes with a hope in them.
“I found it!! The advisor who controlled the portal used to mutter some words before activating the portal.”
Standing up from his position, Mrit then tried to remember the words while activating the teleportation skill.
[Request to teleport to the following coordinates detected.]
[Location – Rus Village
Would you like to teleport to the desired location?
Yes/No]
“Yes!! IT finally worked!! Now we can escape from here.”
Mrit rejoiced as the portal in front of him appeared out of nowhere, indicating that the skill successfully activated.
“Now it’s time to leave. Now hop on Totopa.”
Totopa who was standing on the ground watching Mrit for a while then climbed up and sat on Mrit’s shoulder.
He too looked forward to escaping this place as this place was something that reminded of his lonely past. Now with someone he can trust, Totopa looked forward to experiencing the outside world with Mrit.
“Are you ready Totopa?”
“Topaa!!”
With his approval, Mrit then took a step and entered the portal with great excitement.
“Let’s explore this world for real now.”
With that, Mrit, along with Totopa was then sucked into the portal.
Inside the portal, it felt like travelling through a water slide as Mrit and Totopa moved in it. The space surrounding them repeatedly changed.
Then, a small point of light was seen at what seem like the end.
“We are finally there.”
Mrit was filled with excitement but then the system of the sun interjected.
[By the way owner, wouldn’t this be a problem?]
“What do you mean?”
[The place can be full of people who might belong to the Boulder guild. They will surely realize that you are not one of them when you will reach there and might attack you.]
“Eh? I didn’t think of that?”
[Eh?]
Both stayed silent for a while before Mrit spoke.
“Let’s see what and who will welcomes us. We have that much power to fight some people.”
Mrit looked at Totopa as he said that.
With that, the light neared and engulfed Mrit and Totopa as they then reached the village.
