Screams, lots of screaming. Oh and running too. Not in any meaningful direction of course just all over the place. Maybe into a house or barn or something. Yea this is the reaction I expected to get when I just walked up on a small village. My footsteps couldn't be mistaken for earthquakes by the villagers, and with me being so tall I was seen coming long before I actually arrived at the village itself. I'm assuming most people just stood around in awe of me as I approached and the real panic and fear set in once it was undeniable I was going their way. Now that I was standing on the outskirts of the village everyone was trying very hard to escape and hide. Like I saw you go into your house so whatever dude you do you.
The village of Doovlin. It was maybe six acres worth of cleared forest not including the farmland. That would have added on at least another dozen acres worth of area, not a smell feat for people using what I assume were bow saws and axes. There was a mill for their grain, a sawmill for lumber, what must be a blacksmith, a tannery, a town hall of some kind, and a cute little lookout tower. The houses were sort of all over the place and I would guess the population to be around seventy or something. Quite the cute little town, although for me it was literally little. It was like looking at a model or a group of dollhouses except even more tiny. One of the houses barely came up to my shins. There were even more super tiny animals! Goats and chickens it seemed. They had their own little pens and some of the chickens just wandered around the village freely. I didn't see any cats or dogs immediately though, probably hiding away.
All the panicking continued as I looked the town over. I let the activity go on for only a short while, less than a minute, before I speak my first words to this quaint little population.
"Hello everybody" I said trying to sound cheery. "Lets stop all this panicking now, no one is going to get hurt or anything."
Most of the people had already hidden inside buildings, but the few that were still outside sort of just came to a stop after hearing my words.
"Oh hang on a second!" I said turning my face around. I then turned my face back and tried to make my voice sound deep. "Fe Fi Fo Fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!" I then giggle. "Sorry sorry! I just always wanted to say that since getting here."
The silence was deafening as the villagers looked up at me towering over their homes and the trees in utter disbelief of what they were witnessing. I'm known for being bad in social situations so I had hoped the icebreaker would help ease them into the understanding I wasn't dangerous. Baffled people sort of just stood there staring up at me while others slowly crept back out of their doors or peeked from windows.
Honestly it was pretty embarrassing, and the longer the silence went on the more awkward it got. I felt my face getting warm as my cheeks began to get deep pink. The rest of my face soon followed and I turned my head away to try and hide it, the treeline becoming very interesting for no real reason.
"Um goddess?" Miya asked in confusion from my palm.
I wave my other hand dismissively. "Oh don't worry about it Miya. We like to do a little trolling round here that's all."
My blush hadn't gone away however and anyone with eyeballs could tell I was flustered. I had to regain control of this situation fast otherwise they would never take me seriously. I held my free hand to my mouth and cleared my throat. I noticed some of the villagers gathering near the edge of the buildings as I regained my composure.
"Ahem... Well everyone hello. I'm the Goddess Jenna." I said as my blush faded. "I'm new around these parts and was invited to your village by a group of you. Here is Miya and Elphonse to explain how it went."
Passing off the bulk of the explanation to these two wasn't exactly fair, but considering the circumstances if the villagers heard it from two of their own it was likely to go better than me doing the talking. Plus the villagers who care to worship me weren't back yet and were unlikely to be back for at least an hour or two.
Slowly and carefully I crouched down to the ground. I was standing in the area of cleared land between the buildings and treeline there was plenty of space to sit down which is what I planned to do. With one hand it was a bit awkward to lower myself down, and my butt hitting the dirt caused the biggest tremor yet. There were some cries of alarm as the ground shook. Shit I hope no one had expensive dishes on the wall. I better not be getting charged for damages.
After my butt was firmly planted I carefully pulled my legs in into a cross legged position, tucking my bare feet up under my legs as I stabilized myself with my free hand. Then I lowered the hand with my passengers down in front of my legs on the ground, carefully settling it down on its back so they could climb off easily.
"Come on now off you go." I said
Miya and Elphonse stood up and walked across my palm, the tickling causing my eye to twitch. Elphonse climbed down first and then reached up to help Miya get down after him. Once the two were officially standing on the earth again I could see them wobble around quite a bit. It must be difficult getting used to using your legs after riding around on the goddess express like they did.
I then withdrew both my hands and put them on my knees to help hold me upright.
Seeing the two standing in front of my enormous legs unharmed seemed to push the village residents more towards curiosity than fear. They had begun to gather on the edge of the village proper. Men holding whatever tool they had on hand as a weapon and women holding children back from getting too close. One particularly well dressed man stepped out of the gathered crowd.
"Elphonse is that really you?" he asked. "What the hell is going on here?"
"Sir" Elphonse replied. He paused and looked up at me.
I gave him a head motion for him to head over there. This guy must be important like the head of the village or something. If he knew Elphonse that would make things much easier.
Elphonse began walking towards the crowd and this man with Miya following boldly behind. I could tell that Elphonse was more than a little nervous as he seemed to grasp the gravitas of the situation. I felt kinda bad about dumping this all on him but better him than me in this case.
"Goddess aren't you coming closer?" Miya asked me looking over her shoulder.
I lowered myself and leaned into my legs, putting my elbows on my knees and holding my head up with my hands. With my chin resting in my palms I shook my head slightly.
"Nah. If I go into the village I'm going to leave huge footprints all over the place. I'll stay here for now."
Miya nodded and the two of them walked over to where the man was in front of the crowd. Thankfully due to my super hearing, which I will now start calling "goddess hearing," I was able to make out their conversation.

The man moved to the side of a house, clearly trying to keep out of earshot of the gathered crowd. He motioned for Miya and Elphonse who gathered in a small circle. Even their hushed voices were no match for my goddess hearing.
"Elphonse what in the gods name were you thinking?" the man said angrily. "That's a goddess over there! Where did she come from and how did you end up riding in her hand to our village! Do you have any idea what this means for us? She could kill us all with a flick of her hand!"
Elphonse held up his hands and was clearly trying to calm the man down. "Listen Jenson keep your voice down. She's a goddess alright but she's nothing like the stories we've ever heard."
The man Jenson fired back. "I don't care what the sodding hell you want to think she's like! There hasn't been a goddess in this kingdom for thousands of years! They are just too dangerous to welcome into the middle of our defenseless village! Is this where those lunatics have been wandering off to in the middle of the mornings?"
Miya had crossed her arms and was looking very cross. The boldness she was displaying must mean she thinks herself some kind of priestess of mine or something. I don't even want to think about that right now.
"Mr Butterburn" Miya said firmly. "You really have no idea what you're dealing with here. I suggest you treat the Goddess Jenna with more respect."
Both men just looked at her in shock.
"What did you say girl?" Jenson asked.
"I said" Miya continued. "The goddess is the protector of the village now. We don't need to running around acting like you run the place anymore."
I just sat there watching their conversation intently, as I did have to focus with my hearing to make them out even with my powers. I wasn't even paying attention to what the crowd was doing except for a glance here and there. Some of them had been moving closer to me just trying to get a better look I suppose. This was going to be the part of the conversation I had to step in though, things had just gotten real.
I was just about to open my mouth when I felt something warm touch my pinkie toe on my right foot. My eyes went wide in surprise. Someone touched me? I carefully moved my knee away exposing someone standing by my right foot and reaching out to my toes. Just my toes were huge compared to the figure and when I looked down at them I saw them freeze in panic.
It was a small boy, probably no older than seven. He had messy blonde hair and was looking up at me like a deer caught in a beam of light. A woman was running up behind him, his mother no doubt. I didn't move and watched as she grabbed him from behind and started dragging him away from my foot.
"I'm so sorry goddess!" she said in a panic. "Please he's just a boy he didn't mean anything."
It had become impossible to pay attention to the conversation between Miya and the two men. But as took a quick glance I saw Jenson walking away. I could only assume that conversation would continue at a later date. The new commotion had made Jenson stop and turn around to watch as well.
At this point everyone was looking right at the mother and son. The villagers looked at the mother and boy, then to me, and then back and forth as they waited to see what would happen. I had already raised my hand and begun my response however.
"Its fine" I said calmly. "You can let him go. I'd like to ask him a question."
The mother gulped and looked up at me as she clung to her son. She was reluctant to let go of him.
"Its just a question."
The eyes of the crowd were on her. She took a look around at everyone but received no answer of help. After looking up at me once more she gave her son another embrace and released him from her arms.
She brushed her fingers through his hair. "Go on. Answer the goddess's question now."
I could tell it took her great effort to keep her voice steady. The bravery it took to let go of her son was also commendable, she was definitely the type of parent to die for her child.
Once released from his mothers arms the boy didn't move more than one step away from her before he looked up into the sky at my face. I looked down at him still holding my chin in my hands. He was far enough away that I wasn't looming directly over him, and I tried to speak in a gentle tone.
"Why did you touch my toe?" I asked.
The boy was stammering and his hands were clutched to his chest. His mother put one of her hands on his shoulder which gave him the courage to speak.
"I-I was dared to by them" he replied, pointing at a group of children hiding around the corner of one of the houses.
I just smile down at him as kindly as I can, trying to emanate a feeling of calm, if that's something a goddess can do as a power anyway. "So what you're telling me is you were brave enough to touch me while they hid away in fear?"
The boy just stared up at me not sure how to reply. His mother was also just kneeling there behind her son unsure how to process what was going on. The rest of the villagers were also watching in stunned silence. It was clear the emotion they had been expecting from me was anger, and when I didn't produce it that caught them off guard.
"Whats your name little boy?" I asked him.
With a squeeze on the shoulder by his mother he replied. "Unlee."
"Well little Unlee" I said pulling my left hand away from my face. "Would you like to touch my finger as a reward for your bravery?"
I held my left hand halfway between the ground and my face, my fingers uncurled and my index finger extended in the air. I waved it up and down very slowly as if it was inviting him to touch it. His mother whispered in his ear and he nodded, stepping forward and away from her a few paces.
Slowly and gently I lowered my index finger towards the ground, the shadow of it casting itself over both him and his mother behind him. It was crazy to see just how tiny they were to me. The adults were only the size of my pinkie finger and children were only half that. It must have been very scary for little Unlee to see such a big thing coming closer.
I stopped my finger once it was in the air directly in front of the boy. "Go on."
The little Unlee slowly reached out with his own hand, spreading his fingers out as it got closer and closer to my fingertip. Then as if a sudden burst of courage filled him he jerked his hand forward and it made contact with my finger's skin. He held it there for a moment, looking up at it in awe.
I felt his tiny little hand on my skin and even his heartbeat. It seemed if I focused I could do all kinds of amazing things with my goddess senses. I'd have to experiment with this in the future in purely humane ways.
"Not fair!"
The scene was interrupted as another young boy shouted from near one of the houses. It was one of the children from the group that dared Unlee to touch me in the first place. He was standing out of his cover now, exposed to everyone as he displayed his displeasure in not being able to touch me himself.
Miya was immediately on the scene, putting herself between the small ground of children and me. She kneeled down in front of the boy and scolded him.
"Don't talk to the goddess like that young man!" she said sternly. "You all were too scared to approach her so you sent your friend instead. He got rewarded for his bravery so you'll just have to touch her finger another time."
A sudden yawn escaped me and as I had no free hand to cover it I opened my mouth wide for all to see. Even though it was very rude I just couldn't be bothered to care right now. I was feeling so very tired. I wondered why I kept falling asleep so easily and could only stay away for so little time. Thinking on the subject I had been staying awake longer each time... It was no time to think about that though. It was time for sleep.
"I'm sorry everyone. I'm just feeling so tired right now."
I slowly withdrew my finger from Unlee and lifted my left hand to my face to cover another yawn. Everyone was looking at me but at this point I had resigned myself to being a public spectacle and caring about it wasn't going to help anything. Using both my hands I pushed myself off my knees and into a sitting position I really couldn't keep my eyes open.
Miya's voice drifted from somewhere. "Goddess are you feeling alright?"
"Oh I just... I'll just lay down here for a quick nap" I said to her though heavy eyelids. "I just- I'm just so tired for some reason. You all play nice now."
I scanned the clearing between the treeline and the village and saw there were no people or animals around. With this knowledge in hand I reached both my arms above my head and took a big stretch. I yawned with a gaping mouth as my fingers spread out and my back arched. Then without another word I slowly turned myself to the side so I was parallel with the treeline and slid myself forward off my legs. I lowered my torso onto the ground with rolling thunder that surely shook the village to its core. My legs were slowly pushed out from under me and slid across the ground behind me. I could tell no one was in their way, I didn't know how but I could just tell. Last to hit the ground was my head which I lay on its side in the nook of my right arm.
I close my eyes to the sound of many voices that were having conversations about me no doubt. It was not to be my problem however as it seemed to be only moments after closing my eyes that unconsciousness took me.
