The mountainside shook with the thunderous impacts of my footsteps. I had been pacing around in the forest for a while now, far enough away from the temple that the two people I had left there weren't in any danger. The ground around was a total mess from all my footprints, but its just dirt and would resettle again eventually. This was it, the moment of truth for me that will decide how the future of my life goes in this world. As soon as I stopped stalling I would have to go down to this village and appear before however many people lived there as a goddess of some capacity.
I didn't even know what I was a goddess of. All gods and goddesses were gods of something. I can recall it being known as their sphere of influence, a domain, their power set, their paragon. As far as I was aware I had no special powers or domain to rule over. Maybe as a new goddess this sort of thing would come in time? If they asked me I would have to come up with something, or maybe telling them I'm undecided would be ok? The time for stalling was over now and I had to move forward.
"Ok you two time to go" I said walking back over to the temple.
The two humans I had left here were still sitting in the temple. It made sense they would be sitting with all the tremors me walking around had caused. I was surprised the temple ruins were even still standing after all that. Oh well I thought as I leaned down towards them. I hoped they were understanding. It was the young woman named Miya who's brother I had saved and the blacksmith of the town who's name escaped me currently.
"Miya and... blacksmith guy right? I'm bad with names."
"Elphonse is my name goddess" the man replied.
"Right Elphonse" I replied, my hands on my knees as I loomed over them. "So you two ready to take me to your village? The others probably won't be there yet but I can't wait forever just so they can get there first you know?"
The two of them stood up and Miya brushed her legs off. Despite her being the more fervent one she seemed to be letting the adult take the lead.
"Of course goddess" Elphonse said bowing. He then looked up at me with concern and hesitation. "So erm. You just follow us?"
I stood up and crossed my arms over my chest, letting out a long sigh. Its not that I was disappointing in them, we were all new to this sort of thing after all. I'm sure I looked disappointed looking down on them though.
"No. Obviously I'm going to be carrying you."
As I replied I started crouching down on one knee, lowering my left hand to the ground in front of the temple just as I had done to let Tromly get off my hand. Leaving my hand flat on the ground it left my palm open for them to just walk onto. They both looked a bit hesitent.
"Well get on" I said trying not to be too stern. My heart rate was already pretty high with all this uncertainty so I was feeling a bit rushed.
Miya nodded and walked towards the edge of the temple and my palm. "Yes Goddess Jenna" she said. Then turning to Elphonse she beckoned him. "Come on Mr Pillaman, I saw her carry Tromly before. She's very gentle."
However gentle I could be carrying what amounted to bug people around anyway.
I kept my hand as still as possible as the two of them climbed on. "That's right. Don't worry about hurting me. You two are in more danger being carried around than I am doing it."
It was so bizarre seeing two people only a few inches tall climbing onto my hand. I don't think I'll ever get used to it. I've held bugs before and a few hamsters. Its a weird ticklely feeling you get when feet so small touch around on your skin. A feeling overcomes you when you realize the life of the animal is literally in the palm of your hand. Except this was people, actual human people.
I suppose the feeling I had now was what would be called a power high. The feeling the rich or strong get when they have someone defenseless at their mercy and they can do anything they want with them. I could close my fingers over these two and there would be nothing they could do to stop me. There were dark thoughts that I pushed out of my mind, instead focusing on the truth. Just like a tiny little animal pet these people were my responsibility now. I need to take care of them, keep them safe and fed. Kinda weird thinking of people like that but here we are. Some people would be receptive to this and some people wouldn't, a problem I would have to deal with as it came along.
"This is really fun!" Miya said in excitement as she sat down in my palm. "Come sit down Mr Pillaman. Otherwise you'll fall when she lifts us up!"
Elphonse sat down next to Miya in the middle of my palm, his tiny hands causing my skin to twitch as he placed them on it. "This... This is a very strange feeling" he said. "To think I would find myself one day in the hand of a child as a bug would."
"Believe me its a weird thing for me to get used to too. " I replied as I curled my fingers slightly.
It was just enough to cup my palm like I had last time I carried someone. The movement caused them to tumble a bit and get into new sitting positions, but the negation of risk to them falling out of my hand was more important. I then slowly lifted my hand up to chest height again and began slowly standing up. Both of them looked very exhilarated by the movement. I imagined it would be like riding on one of those contraptions at the places called amusement parks. Rollercoasters was the word for it. Yes I remember riding on one of those.
"Well we all ready to head out?" I asked looking down in my hand.
They both nodded as they braced themselves.
"Ok then. Which way are we goin?"
Elphonse pushed himself up so he could see over the sides of my hand. He immediately fell over backwards onto my skin again. I'm sure the sight of being so high up caused instant and overwhelming vertigo. Poor guy couldn't handle it. Honestly I feel dizzy just standing up myself sometimes in this new body.

Miya moved to put her hands on Elphonse's chest and leaned over him. "Are you ok Mr Pillaman?"
"Yes yes" he replied. "I just got very dizzy all of a sudden..."
"Its vertigo" I said very matter of factly. "People get it when they look down from high places or even just stand up too fast. Don't blame yourself for your equilibrium."
They both looked up at my face and gave me a confused look so I continued.
"Well he probably hasn't ever been this high up before. Its not something to be embarrassed about, I'm surprised both of you are taking being so high up so well."
Elphonse sat up once again. "You are very knowledgeable about this sort of thing goddess, though I suppose that's to be expected of a goddess."
I felt myself blushing a little bit and tried to stop it from happening, by the look on their faces I wasn't as successful as I hoped. It was then I realized that my knowledge was basically from the future. I'm some kind of super genius and I wonder how careful I should be about telling them things.
"Yes yes" I replied playing it off as nothing. "Now which way to your village Elphonse?"
He sat up and looked around again, Miya helping hold him upright as I saw him getting used to the view of the landscape. I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for in the endless trees that eventually faded into plains so without their help I'd never find the village.
Eventually he pointed in a direction. "Its that way goddess. Southeast from here in the lowlands Teforh Forest."
"Teforh Forest?" I asked curiously. "What's this mountain called then?"
They both looked at me surprised at how ignorant I was. Should I be worried about negative repercussions for needing to be told these kinds of things. I have no way of knowing location specific information!
"Look, I woke up a few days ago ok? I'm just asking for the names of locations!" I was defensive and looked away frustrated, unable to stop the red flush coming over my face.
The two of them understood my embarrassment and unavoidable ignorance on things, and this would hopefully apply to anything in the future as well. Elphonse seemed to be tactful and went into a brief explanation for me.
"Well goddess" he said. "The mountains we're on are called the Henjuk Mountains and are covered in the Goudihev Forest." He pointed to the more deciduous forest at the base of the mountains. "Below is the Teforh Forest where our village of Doovlin is."
He paused there and looked up at my face above him. The gears inside my head were turning as I absorbed this information, my face going blank until he stopped talking. The expectant expression I was then giving him caused him to continue.
"The nearest village to ours is Yuvoghen which is in the same forest as us. I'm afraid there isn't a proper town for many miles Goddess Jenna."
I was too focused on the information I was getting, looking up over the landscape with a blank expression as I tried to pick out the settlements in the far distance. My eyes barely blinked as I plotted out what might be the map layout and my imagination went wild with what the places might be like.
"Kingdom name, world name, capital city..." I said in a monotone voice.
He didn't register it as a question until my unblinking eyes locked onto him again which caused him to jump. He then quickly replied.
"Well the kingdom is called Celuduun and the capital city is named Norlov which-"
"That's enough" I said cutting him off.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Then I released it in a rush of air that rushed over the two in my hand, blowing their clothing and hair around in a great wind. After I was finished exhaling I opened my eyes, now sparkling with light as before. Two two of them let out a sigh of relief as the tension relaxed. I didn't even realize this of course.
"Thank you for the information. Let us set off now."
"Its no p-problem goddess" Elphonse stuttered.
With no knowledge of the potentially traumatizing experience I just gave my two passengers I started walking in the direction Elphonse had indicated with a smile on my face. Even though I was still nervous and a little bit scared, this was going to be fun as well. I just had a good feeling someone was watching out for me, maybe the universe or something.
As I walked I was continuously looking down at the forest floor, still trying to be very careful where I plant my footfalls. I figure as this point any animal in the wide vicinity would be smart enough to get out of my way long before getting stepped on, but there was of course that group of people that were currently walking through these woods to the village. With how large my strides are I'm sure I'll make it to this village in only a few minutes, long before they ever would.
Both of my passengers were closely looking at my face, watching my eyes as I look from here to there. My footsteps boomed far below them and the impacts were even felt by them in my hand as the vibrations traveled up my body. I was too busy to notice them doing this, but if I had I would have wondered what was going through their heads.
Miya spoke up suddenly. "Great goddess..." she said with a hint of nervousness in her voice. "Why are you walking like this?"
I was still watching the ground and plotting my next step to avoid bushes and large rock formations. The trees were constantly brushing against my dress and legs, causing quite the annoying tickling sensation for me. My answer was therefore reflecting of that distraction and would be seen as very casual for someone of my supposed status.
"Oh you know. I'm just making sure I'm careful where I'm putting my feet down so I don't step on any animals or people."
This seemed to surprise the both of them, and though I didn't see it they both gave each other very bewildered looks. This confusion came through in their voices however as Elphonse asked the next question.
"This just seems to be..." he said trailing off. "Its just not like what I know of goddesses from the ancient legends."
I paused my footsteps for a moment and moved my attention from the ground to my two passengers in my hand. A very annoyed look was on my face and it instantly caused them both to shrink back in fear. My annoyance was reflected in my voice.
"What? Am I supposed to just stomp around without a care on anything or anyone that gets in my way?" I replied. "What kind of goddess would that be?"
They both looked stunned and Elphonse looked down in utter disbelief of what he had just heard.
"I-I don't know..."
I let out a huff and resumed focusing on the ground. "I don't mind you guys asking me questions, but try to use a little bit of common sense before asking them."
I then continued walking, leaving my two passengers bewildered and stunned sitting in my palm. These two with their dumb shocked expressions I thought to myself as I stepped down a twenty foot tall cliff as if it was a stair. Who cares what they think anyway? If everyone is going to be this ignorant its going to get real old real fast. They're quiet now cause they think they made me mad. Whatever! Maybe they did a little bit! What they expect me to just stomp all over people and not even care?
My frustration was plainly visible on my face but I didn't care. However, just when I was about to say something to them a thought struck me. I had no idea where this thought came from but it caused me to pause my walking again. My passengers said something but I didn't hear and didn't answer. I'm going to get a lot of stupid questions from here on out. So many. If I get upset over something as simple as a question how can I ever be a goddess worthy of her position?
I began walking again, my mind now consumed by the determination to be more understanding of the ignorant. I was after all ignorant of this world myself. A word came to my mind, one I remember having some kind of reverence for before. Bodhisattva. One on the path to enlightenment that seeks to preserve and help all living things. Yes. This was my path.
My passengers were calling up to me again and I suddenly sniff a familiar smell. Smoke! I stop walking and lift my eyes from the ground. Ahead of me not even a dozen steps away is the village.
