I walk down the last slope of the mountainside, the evening sun starting to dim. It wasn't quite dusk yet but it would be in only an hour or two. With my massive size the some two miles left to the village would take only a minute. Miya was still on my shoulder looking out over the forest as my booming steps far below shook her through my body. She still had some of my hair wrapped around her body to secure her and I was checking on her constantly while I carried my clay tablets.
"I don't think I'd ever get used to seeing the world from so high up!" Miya exclaimed. "You really are lucky goddess to be able to travel so quickly."
I smile and give a quick look over to my shoulder. "Well believe it or not its not easy for me to get used to being this big." I look down at my feet as I stomp through the trees. "At least I'm used to watching where I step though. So far I've stepped on zero people or animals by accident!"
"I know you wouldn't do that ever" Miya said back to me.
"Accidents happen" I said. "I just pray that day never comes."
Miya could be felt pulling my hair tighter around herself. "If you did ever step on someone goddess Jenna I know you wouldn't kill them. Even if you did I know you would bring them back. You're just too kind not to."
I could tell Miya really believed in me as an all powerful benevolent force. I really wish I could say I was everything she imagined but right now I'm not sure. I still haven't been able to practice with magic much but today I plan to. Its been a whole day without me falling asleep and its obvious I'm able to stay awake longer. It has to be based on how many people worship me. Looking at the village coming into view through the trees I wonder what anyone else would have done in my situation. I hope most people would try to be a force for good but I'm not naive enough to believe everyone would. Lets hope they're aren't many other goddesses in this world.
"Well we're back" I say as I aproach the village.
I step out of the forest and into the clearing around the village. It looked like most everyone was going about their daily lives. There were people tending to animals, managing the fields, and working on projects here and there. I can remember back in my other life wonderful technology that allowed light, communication, and machines to preform all kinds of inhuman feats. How much of that could I bring back to these people? First the defense of the town would be needed however.
"Hello again everyone" I said in the general village direction.
I walk around to the easten side of the clearing carrying my tablets and slowly start to bend over.
"Hang on Miya" I say.
Miya tightened her grip on my hair and tugged at it some. "Yes goddess" she replied.
As I bend over I lower my arms as low as I can to try and stay as upright as possible. I felt Miya slide off my shoulder and tensed for the worst. Thankfully despite her shriek she was fine as I could see her dangling below my face all wrapped up in my hair. It had done its job of saving her in case she fell. I quickly placed my tablets on the ground and lifted my now freed hands up below Miya in case my hair came unraveled. After a few moments of panic Miya found herself hanging there in the air without much movement.
"Pretty fun huh?" I asked trying to ease her fear.
Miya was still clinging to my hair with a terrified look on her face as one of my hands came underneath her feet to support her. "Y-Yes goddess..." she stammered. "V-Very fun." Once she felt my hand touch her feet she squeaked. "Please get me down goddess!"
A few concerned villagers had came over as Miya had been freaking out. Honestly if I was her I would be having the time of my life. It looked just like one of those thrill rides at a fair or something. Someone of her technology level would have no idea what I'm talking about though so it makes sense how scared she is.
"Alright Miya. No need to panic ok? I'm here with you." I said gently. I then look down at the villagers. "Don't worry she's fine. I had her wrap herself in hair in case this happened."
As I allowed Miya to unwrap herself from my hair the villagers who weren't watching her in the sky turned their attention to my massive clay tablets. They were very interested in them and rightfully so. I allowed them to walk around and examine them but would stop them if they tried to climb the stack. It must have looked like castle walls to them and thankfully they weren't going directly up to them.
"What are these goddess?" a man asked.
"They're clay tablets obviously" I replied. "You know. For writing things on?"
"These have writing on them?" another man asked in disbelief. "Who wrote them? Where did they come from?"
Miya had finished separating herself from my hair and I lowered my hand carefully to the ground for her to climb off of. As she was lowering herself from the ground I continued my explanation to the man about the tablets.
"Well I wrote them!" I said a little sharply. "And I made them too! You don't think things like this just materialize out of thin air do you?"
The several villagers standing around looked at each other in confusion and towards the tablets in amazement. Miya, who had just finished lowering herself onto the ground from my hand, brushed herself off and walked towards the group.
"Yes Goddess Jenna is amazing and a true scholar." she said proudly. "So don't even bother trying to read these tablets."
I had better check that attitude of hers in case she lets the priestess thing go too much to her head. I slowly stand up and take my tree pen off the top of the tablet stack as I do so. It sucks my dress doesn't have pockets but there's not much I can do about that now. It does look oddly cleaner than before too, but I'm sure I'm imaging that.
"She's right about that anyway." I said looking down at them below. "They're written in English, which is a language only I know. Even if you were able to climb up and look at the words you wouldn't understand them." I then lean over and reach to the ground with my pen. "Its dangerous to climb that high anyway so don't ok?"
I then press my tree pen into the dirt and pull it along in a line, furrowing my brows in satisfaction as it leaves a deep groove in the ground. After telling them all to watch out I then quickly start making a big circle around the tablets and a pretty large area with nothing in them. I then step over and place the tree pen down next to the tablets and take a few steps back to the edge of the forest.
All the villagers had watched me do this in awe and looked around at the now huge circle in the clearing. A woman was the first to speak up.
"What is this goddess?"
I raise my fist to my mouth and clear my throat, the sound most certainly heard by everyone in the entire village. I then cross both my arms across my chest and take a deep breath.

"I'd like to make an announcement to everyone" I said. "So please pay attention."
I wait a few moments as I can see and sense people turning towards me and those that could walk towards me. If I closed my eyes I could sense after all with my goddess vision the locations of most everything in the village at this point. I'm sure there were some that didn't worship me still but that wasn't my problem. Once I was satisfied with getting everyone's attention I contained. My expression is a serious one and I'm very focused on what I'm about to say.
"These clay tablets are mine. I made them and brought them here from the mountains." I point at the stack of tablets. "I don't want anyone trying to read them or climbing onto them. Its dangerous and you can't read the language anyway." I cross my arms again. "Its just information for me anyway."
I then motion around with my hand, pointing out the circle I drew on the ground. "I also made a circle on the ground in the clearing here. I know its just a dirt trench but for now that's all I can do."Everything inside it belongs to me. I'm using this area for storage of my stuff for now." I point out into the village. "Don't go touching my stuff ok?" I then cross my arms again. "Any questions?"
The reaction I saw in the villagers wasn't exactly what I expected. They were murmuring to each other and looking generally concerned at the tablets and up at me. They weren't scared of me all of a sudden were they? I mean its normal for people to have personal belongings.
Miya walked up to my feet and bowed before my left foot before standing back up again. "Great goddess Jenna. Please tell us: the punishment for touching your things isn't severe is it?"
Crap. They totally think I'm like the Greek gods with the vengeance and stuff don't they? I lower my arms to my side and take a deep breath before relaxing myself as obviously as possible. Hopefully this would ease some of the tension the people felt.
"Well no Miya there isn't going to be any punishments or anything." I said calmly. "I just don't want people messing with my stuff is all. Whenever I get things that are important to me I just want to be able to store them someplace safe, and the only safe place I know of is this village."
Miya bows to me and turns to face the villagers closest to her. "There see everyone? Our goddess is merciful and kind. We should be honored that she keeps her valuable possessions in our village! Each one is a sacred relic that we are honored to watch over!"
Oh geez.
The village erupts in a cheer of celebration, hands raised in air and hats thrown upwards. It seemed that issue was cleared up once again with the help of Miya. I kneeled down and gave her a grateful look. Most of the villagers then returned to whatever it was they were doing leaving the pressure off me for now. With each passing day they were getting more used to me being around. This was a good thing of course as it meant they were trusting me more. Some of the villagers stayed near me and Miya and were asking questions about what sort of items I would bring.
"There's no time for that" I said standing up again. "I need to find whoever's in charge of defense around here and talk to them about the wall we're going to build for the village.
"That would be Mr. Butterhorn wouldn't it?" Miya said up to me. "He is supposed to be in charge of the village."
I tap my chin. "Yes isn't he. Thanks Miya I'll be off then."
With that I step away from the tablets and walk over to the Butterhorn household on the other side of the village. It took only a few steps to make it there, my feet being carefully placed not to step on anyone or anyone's houses. A simple look out was enough to keep people out of my way, not that the earthquakes my steps make weren't enough. Once I was at my detestation I simply got down on my knees and tapped on the ground in front of the door.
"Is Jenson home? I'd like to speak to him."
I waited a few moments for someone to appear at the door. Closing my eyes I could see the wife inside the house. Either the husband wasn't home or he didn't worship me. He seemed like the type to worship money over anything else. Eventually the door did open though and standing there was Jenson himself, the faithless bastard.
"Y-Yes great goddess Jenna?" he asked nervously.
I lean down in front of the house to put my face as close to him as possible, all to maximize the intimidation factor of course.
"Got a moment?" I asked.
He looked quite fearful of me as he stammered his reply. "Of c-course goddess."
He remained in the door frame though. As if he thought diving inside and slamming the door would somehow protect him from me. I kept my face down near the house and looked directly at him.
"Care to step outside and talk?"
Jenson slowly stepped out of the door and onto his porch. I could see with my goddess vision his wife watching from the other room inside.
As he walked away from the door I lifted my head up to allow him a place to walk. I then sat up straight and pulled my legs out from under me, plopping them down with a thundering boom on either side of his house. Even with the large size of his house my two child legs could easily settle down on both sides of it with the whole thing between. I let out a loud sigh as I wiggled my toes, looking down at him and his house between my legs in a display of my overwhelming size and power. The fence on the side of his house had been smashed by my left leg but whatever. This little man would hopefully understand who's in charge here now.
"I wanted to ask you about the defenses of this town" I asked looking at him. "You're in charge here or whatever correct?"
Jenson was clearly frightened and was receiving the message my body language was giving off. I mean the whole village would, its not like what I'm doing could be hidden.
"Yes g-great goddess" he said with a bow. "I was assigned to oversee this village by the lord of this area."
I rest my arms on my legs. "So you're nobility right?"
"Yes goddess." he replied. "My family is very wealthy in the trade of raw goods. This lumber mill being one such enterprise."
"So what's up with the shit defenses this village has?" I ask with a hint of frustration in my voice. "Like two watchtowers and a handful of guards? I mean I know most villages run on militias but this is a bit whack."
Jenson stands there seemingly too stunned to move or speak. His utter loss for words makes me believe he hasn't thought about this much himself. This means there must not be much danger of attacks and those raiders a short while ago were an anomaly. Explains why some rich family sent a son off in the boonies, its not supposed to be dangerous.
I lean in a bit and take a deep breath. "I'm not angry with you. Well not too much anyway." I correct myself with a roll of my eyes. "I'm planning on having a palisade wall built around the village. Do you know what that is Jenson?"
"I-It's a wall of felled trees goddess" he said.
"That's right!" I replied sitting up again. "I figure its the least we can do for some protection around here. That and a couple extra watch towers. One at each corner of the village." I put my hand to my chin. "Stone would take too long even for me to build so we're going to just use trees."
Jenson rubs his hands nervously on his pants. "You're going to build a wall for us goddess? That seems unlike a god..."
I lower my hand again. "Oh I'll build the wall yes, planting the logs will go much faster if I do it. I want you to gather the trees for me though. You do run a logging company. How long do you think it would take to collect a couple hundred or so of them?"
Jenson's expression turns to one of outrage but he quickly controls himself as he looks at my legs towering around him like castle walls made of flesh. "M-My company workforce is necessary for me to continue operations here. If I don't keep up with supply demands-"
"The defense of this village comes before profits" I say interrupting him. "Where are you gunna do your logging business if the village is destroyed hmm?" I watch him look at his feet and continue. "Who's the local lord you deliver this wood too? Send a raven or letter and tell him the goddess is giving this order if you want. Now how long will it take to get these logs?"
"The l-lord of this province is Q-Quarely Mettlelin goddess" Jenson replied. "Y-You did know this already?"
"Yeah I knew this" I said, sorta remembering that name from the book earlier. "And this province is Voorhaul right? Now about the timeframe."
Jenson bowed to me again clearly trying to ease the anger he thought I felt. Not that I was trying to have an oppressive aura or anything.
"Perhaps a month oh great goddess..." he said.
"Good" I said happily. "Just have all the logs placed in area where my stuff is kept alright? Thanks."
With that I pulled my legs back and pushed myself up so I was standing again. This was all sure a load off my mind. With the raw materials for the wall secured now all I have to do is wait for them to show up and I can just stick them into the ground easy. Then enemies will at least have something to go around. I look to the sky and see there's still an hour or two of light left. I want to get some magic practice in today, and even if night comes I'll just be even more protected from prying eyes. I don't even feel sleepy yet so I'll stay out until I start feeling that, then rush back here.
"I'm going to head out of the village for a bit." I say down to Jenson. "It might be dark before I'm back so if anyone asks you where I went tell them not to worry."
With that I brush off my dress and turn to walk back up into the mountains. I'll tell Miya on the way out of the village and then I'll be be free to practice some magic. I'm so excited I can barely contain myself.
