Chapter 2: Goddess Ivy

---------A few years later---------

RUN!!!

*Huff*  *Huff*

I can’t let her catch me no matter what!

[Mom]  “Come on Ivy, come to Mama…”

Heck no, you just tried to give me another one of your love potions.  Not only are we both girls, but I am YOUR DAUGHTER!

I run around the corner and hide behind the couch.  I look at Dad and plead him with my eyes not to tell Mom.  His eyes gaze back at mine full of pity… it was my Mom who dominated the family.

[Mom]  “Hey Honey, do you know where our daughter is?”

[Dad]  “N-no”

*Thump*  *Crack*

[Dad]  “S-she’s right over there”

My eyes open wide at Dad’s betrayal.  Mom smiled and looked my way.  I swear even if the devil were to look in to her eyes he would shiver from fright.  She takes a few steps towards me and right as she was going to pick me up I kick the bottle out of her hand and it splatters all over the floor.

[Mom]  “Ahh~ Now Ivy, since your being disobedient I think punishment is in order~”

…Crud, maybe I shouldn't have just done that…

Mom picks me up and slings me over her shoulder.  Looking back at Dad one last time to plead for help, he just turns and looks the other way.  TRAITOR! Next thing I know I am in a sheep outfit and mom is cuddling me.

[Me]  “Mom *Huff* I’m sorry *Pant* I won’t do it again *Wheeze*”

[Mom]  “I forgive you~ You’re just so cute~ Yes you are~ My little sheep~”

[Me]  “Wolf”

[Mom]  “What was that?”

[Me]  “N-nothing at all”

A few more minutes of torture later I was able to escape to the downstairs.  Honestly, I am glad I got to go to this type of world because my wounds heal a lot faster.  If they didn’t then with all my running around I would look like a pincushion.  I am currently 4 and will be turning 5 tomorrow.  That makes today a super important day.  That’s right, today I will be visiting the local church, the Church of Zeus.  It seems as if the people here had a twisted version of the Greek Gods from my past life… Hmm~

In my pondering I ended up at the dining room.  I sat down at the table and waited for dinner to be served.  Mom came over and gave me my food, which consisted of portage and breed.  My dad was the one who started the dinner conversation.

[Dad]  “So, Ivy are you ready for your first visit to the church?  Or rather, your first visit outside in two years?”

[Me]  “Yep!”

I have been indoors all my life, with the exception of one day that happened two years back.  The first three years of my life Mom kept me indoors because she said ‘She is too cute and young to be through out to the wolves’.  When I just turned 3, I snuck out of the house to see the outdoors.  At first I was amazed and ran around like the child I am now.  I then meet a village boy, which led to another… which led to another.  Soon I was surrounded by literally every boy around my age surrounding me, not including the various adults surrounding me while saying things like wanting to pet me.  Then my mom appeared in the form of my night-in-shining armor and then she gingerly put me back into the house.  After the ordeal I smiled and said ‘Thank you’, and since then the love potions have been popping up… in front of a 3 year old child.

[Mom]  “Hurry up and eat so we can leave.”

[Me]  “Mom, why do we go to the church on the day before our 5th birthday when we don’t have access to our status before 5?”

[Mom]  “Well… it started when a farmer brought his son into the church before his child’s 5th birthday; since they couldn’t do it after and they hadn’t had the chance to do it before.  After that the child was blessed with a gift and went off to become a world-changer.  Then, after that another boy was brought in before his 5th birthday and also was blessed with a gift.  Although this boy’s gift was minor, he still went off and changed the world.  After that it just became habit to bring in your child right before their 5th birthday.”

Wow… a lot of information to process there.  Oh well, I hope Zeus will be happy that I’m visiting his church!

After eating mom takes my hand as we open the front door.  We take a step outside and sunlight hits my body, warming me.  I let a smile leak onto my face and I look around in wonder.  The birds are chirping their beautiful song and the wind starts playing with my hair as it is with the leaves of the tree.  Suddenly the birds stop chirping and I look over at them only to discover that they are staring at me.  I wonder if I scared them…

*Sigh*

I renew my resolve and walk with mom to the church.  As we enter I look up at the statue of Zeus they made… I can see a few mistakes, but that is probably only because I met him in person.  I closed my eyes and prayed as Mom instructed me, and then we went back home.  I seriously wonder why everything was so quite, but maybe that’s how it usually is… hmm… who knows?

----------Random Boy’s POV----------

Dinner has recently finished, and I rush out to join my friends in a game of tag.  The game slowly grew until everyone from ages 4-8 in the village had joined in.  Well, actually we are missing one person… she’s missing.  The missing girl being Ivy, who we only saw once a few years back.  We are not a small village, but we cannot be called large either.

Suddenly the entire area is void of sound.  I look around for the cause and see it… or perhaps I should say I see her.  Right in front of the house a little to the left of our position a girl looking about 5 is standing, hair flowing like silk in the wind.  Her smile is enough to break the heavens, and a pounding came from within my chest.  Her looks do not belong down here on Aredia… it belongs amongst the gods.  Everyone’s eyes followed her as she walked away, the direction of the church.  We just stayed like that for a while before she came back and entered her house once more.

[Boys]  “…”

[Girls]  “…”

[Me] “…”

[Adults]  “…”

The birds hesitantly began their song again, and slowly noise came back into existence.  Not one of us would forget that day as that image was burned forever within my heart.

----------Head Priest’s POV----------

I was praying to the god Zeus as usual when suddenly the church quieted down.  Thinking the people decided to pray I prayed it no mind.  After a little while the noise returns and then so does my prayer.  I open my eyes and look around.  I see nothing out of the usual, so I guess that they must have finished praying.

I look over at Priest Gabriel motions for me to follow him into a secluded corner.  I follow him and he looks at me very seriously.

[Priest Gabriel]  “Head Priest, did you see her?”

[Me]  “She who?”

Priest Gabriel took this as a no and began explaining what I missed.

[Priest Gabriel]  “Just now a Goddess has walked into the church and gave a short prayer.”

[Me]  “Goddess?  How could you be sure she was one?  Also, why would a Goddess need to pray to God Zeus?”

[Priest Gabriel]  “Her looks were that of a divine and her aura was mighty, though she looked only 5.  As for why she would pray, I do not know.”

[Me]  “5?  Do you know what you are saying?  How could a 5 year old be a goddess?!”

Just then my sleeve lightly brushed the wall, somehow catching fire.  HOW DOES SLEEVE + WALL = FIRE?!?!  Suddenly I understood and my eyes were opened to the truth.

[Me]  “T-this must be the goddess punishing me for doubting her!  F-from now on we will solely devote ourselves to that goddess understood?  No other god or goddess maters!  She is all, she is power, she is beauty, and she is our goddess!!!”

All the other priest’s eyes flashed in understanding.  We let the old church burn and once it was gone we began anew.  This time we will build the church for the true goddess!!!  Then, once we are done we will convert all!

…And thus the birth of the new religion for Goddess Ivy had begun.
