Chapter 11: Spread the Religion!

Chapter 11: Spread the Religion!

----------Ivy’s POV----------

Mom’s smirking… why is she smirking?!  Wha… Dad’s smirking too!  Why?!  What am I missing?!   James just has his usual clueless face on, so he is useless for this particular information.  Both sets of grandparents look nice enough.  Makes you wonder how my parents came to be…

[Grandmother 1]  “Carla, my daughter, how are you!”

[Mom]  “Just fine, Mother, how are you and Father?”

[Grandmother 1”  “Just fine.  Hey, you must be Ivy, and you must be James!”

Grandmother from Mom’s side of the family accnoledges us and give us a warm smile.

[Me]  “Hello, Grandmother, its nice to meet you.”

[Grandmother 1]  “You as well, and call me Martha”

[Me]  “Ehh?!  Isn’t that slightly disrespectful?”

[Martha]  “I’m your grandmother, no need to avoid my name!”

[Me]  O-okay…”

[Grandmother 2]  “Call me Katrina.”

[James]  ‘Pleasure to meet you Martha, Katrina, and… grandfathers.”

[Grandfather 1]  “Maerd.”

[Grandfather 2]  “I’m Knuks.”

Those are some interesting names.  I wonder if they mean anything…

[James]  “Cool names!”

[Martha]  “Why don’t you boys visit town and get to know one another”

[James]  “Huh?  Uhh… sure!”

James walked out the door followed by both grandfathers.  When they were out of the house Martha gave a pointed look towards Dad.

[Martha]  “I said ALL boys.”

[Dad]  “Wha… me too?”

[Martha]  “Are you a male?”

[Dad]  “I’m going…”

Once Dad left Martha shut the door and shared a cunning looking with Mom.  Is it possible that I overlooked Martha’s true personality?!  At least Katrina will help me!  I look over at Katrina, just to see her looking at me with an evil look in her eye.  Am I alone with these beasts?!  Why would they do this?!

[Katrina]  “Devil form.  Now.”

[Me]  “Huh?”

[Martha, Katrina, & Mom]  “NOW.”

No matter how strong a person is, they will never win over their mother or their grandmothers.  I released my devil form, and everyone bowed.  Upon giving them permission to stand, the torture began.

----------James’s POV----------

[Martha]  “Why don’t you boys visit town and get to know one another”

[Me]  “Huh?  Uhh… sure!”

I look over at Ivy, and notice that she seems slightly worried.  I wish I could stay with her and reassure her everything will be alright, however it seems as if fate is against me.  Wait.  Maybe… just maybe I am being called to a greater calling!  That must be it!  I will complete my calling!

[Dad]  “Son, are you alright?”

[Me]  “Huh?  Yeah, why?  Hold on, when did you get out here?”

[Dad]  “Martha sent me out.  When I got out I noticed a very…particular look on your face.”

[Me]  “Fufufu… I found my true calling at last!”

[Dad]  “Oh really?  What is it?”

[Me]  “To spread the teachings of Goddess Ivy!  I shall start with my grandfathers!”

[Dad]  “That’s my son!  I shall help you on your mission!!!”

---------Maerd’s POV----------

*Knock*  *Knock*  *Knock*

Katrina knocked upon the door.  When the door opened, we could see a spacious small home with four people waiting for us at the door.  The first person is my daughter-in-law who seems to have opened the door.  She smiled and her smile reminded everyone of flowers.

She was once considered the most beautiful of all devils, and her hand in marriage was often asked.  When her ceremony began it was found that she was just a common devil, and so no one wanted her anymore.  She stayed like that a while, but for some odd reason it never bothered her.  One day this boy appeared and they fell in love.  This boy happened to be my son, and, defying my wishes, he took Carla’s hand in marriage.

This story has been taken without authorization. Report any sightings.

My son was the second person I saw, and I noticed a strange gleam in his eye.  It may be pride at his success, but it seems to differ just a little from pride.  The next person I saw was his son, who I can tell is an upper class devil.  I turn some more and see the most beautiful and majestic being that I have ever seen.  She was still young and must be my son’s daughter.  She had the looks of a goddess.

As I was admiring my new granddaughter every male in the house was kicked out.  After my wife so ‘caringly’ kicked us out, James and his father began to have very frightening looks.  I pride myself in being a veteran in combat; however their looks were just short of pure evil.

[James]  “Hey Maerd, have you heard about the new church around here?”

[Me]  “No…”

As I replied Knuks curiously looked over.

[James]  “Around here we worship the Goddess of Misfortune.  Let me tell you about it…”

----------Head Priest’s POV----------

Oh joyful day!  Oh glorious day!  I have found a new pathway of unreached people who know not the glories of Goddess Ivy, the Goddess of Misfortune.  Today I have just finished talking to two new believers, both of which were shown the way by Brother James.  They ended up promising to share the religion with their wives and then the rest of the ‘organization’ they belong to.

[Me]  “Now, let us go over the Laws of Misfortune.”

[Church]  “Yes!”

[Me]  “One should always follow Goddess Ivy.  One should never betray our goddess. One should always share the good news.  One should never act rashly, unless in the name of misfortune.  One should…”

----------Oscar’s POV----------

Twigs and ferns tugged at our legs as our adventuring party headed to a nearby town.  Heavy panting in the back told me we should take a break.  I look over at our leader, Fred, and he nods, acknowledging the state of the group.  When we sat down, I took out my canteen of water and began to eagerly gulp down mouthfuls of water.

[Fred]  “Easy there, you wouldn’t want to choke, now would you?”

[Sara]  “Hey!  Not all of us have superior endurance like you!”

[Me]  “You got that right.”

Fred chuckles, and begins to focus on sharpening his broadsword.  After calming her rapid heart rate, Sarah turns to me and begins to talk.

[Sarah]  “Hey, have you heard of the Goddess of Misfortune?”

[Me]  “No, never in my life.”

[Sarah]  “She’s amazing, I heard her appearance could best even the Goddess of Beauty, and her kindness knows no bounds!”

[Me]  “Mmhmm.  I doubt that she even exists.  I mean, come on.  No one can beat Goddess Kat at her own game.”

[Sarah]  “Well Goddess Ivy can.”

[Me]  “Ivy?  That’s her name?”

[Sarah]  “Hey!  You need to add ‘goddess’ before that!”

[Me]  “I doubt that she is even a goddess.”

[Fred]  “I’d be careful if I were you, Oscar.  You wouldn’t want to offend a goddess would you?”

[Me]  “Stop with the rhetorical questions.  I said what I meant, nothing more… nothing less.

[Fred]  “Be careful…”

*Crack*

[Sarah]  “Please tell me that wasn’t just me.”

*Crack*

[Fred]  “Battle formations!”

*Crack*  *Crack*  *Snap!*

In front of us is this hideous beast that was completely dark.  Fred motioned for us to stay silent and to scan its abilities.

Name:  (N.A.)                    Race:  Being of Misfortune                     Level:  542

Titles:  Summoned One

Health:  5,000/5,000          Mana:  5,000/5,000          Stamina: 1,000/1,000

[Fred]  “Crud!  It’s a high level beast!  Fall back now!”

We all moved quickly and the being seemingly followed us with its eyes.  This will be the LAST time I doubt a Goddess… as long as I survive this, that is.
