Book Two: Chapter 27

The Helm of Darkness fell off Roger’s head as he rose to his feet, facing King Acrisius.

The demonic red man smiled with relief. "You are not Hades. How pathetic."

Roger pointed the bident at Acrisius. "Where is the Cerberus?"

Acrisius narrowed his eyes. "Why do you wish to know? Don't you want to fight me first?"

"If I can rescue them first, we can kick your ass together."

Acrisius chuckled. "If you insist." He raised two fingers and snapped them together.

On the right, a wooden door opened, revealing a tall, three-headed figure. Roger smiled until the Cerberus stepped out.

Their eyes burned red, like flames bursting from their skulls. They wore their black leather bikini with spiked armor plates and a skull on their belt buckle. Their hairstyles were all mohawks like Katina's, but more bladed and sharp. Roger couldn't tell them apart.

When they spotted Roger, they growled together, letting their saliva dripped from their muzzles.

Roger’s heart began to beat fast. "Cilla? Katina? Labda?"

The girls roared, blowing their terror toward Roger. It doesn't sound like them at all.

"What did you do to them?" The cop shouted.

King Acrisius laughed, stomping his hooves on the floor. "I turned them into my pet. All it took was three tastes of my blood."

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

While laughing again, he pointed his finger at Roger. "Kill him!"

The Cerberus nodded their heads and pulled out two one-handed axes from behind their backs.

Roger held out his hands, shaking them. "Katina! Cilla! Labda! It's me! Roger!"

The Cerberus only snarled as they marched closer and closer toward him. When they raised their axes up, Roger jumped back from their attack.

"Girls!" He shouted again, but they swung their axes.

He ducked. "It's me!"

Acrisius laughed. "Shout as long as you can! They will never hear you!"

Roger annoyed him as he held up the bident, blocking the axes. The Cerberus pushed him to the floor, but he kept one knee up, pushing back. "Come on, girls! It's me! Snap out of it!"

The girls only replied with growls vibrating through Roger’s spine. Sweat and frustration danced through Roger's skin.

He didn't want to believe Acrisius, but his logical mind told him otherwise. The Cerberus was truly under his control now, and Roger’s words couldn't free them. But he didn't want to hurt or kill the girls, although Acrisius ordered them to kill him. There has to be another way!

The Cerberus shot their right foot into his torso. He flew backward and slammed against a column. His back rattled as he fell to the floor, but luckily, his bones remained together.

He got up, just as the Cerberus charged toward him, raising their axes.

Roger groaned. “I’m sorry…..”

He raised his bident and slammed the two implements onto the floor. A shock wave roared through the floor, opening a wide crack toward the Cerberus.

The girls fell straight down through the crack, roaring in fury.

Roger hoped they didn’t fall too far, but he had no other choice. Sending them to the bottom floor should give him time to deal with Acrisius. As long as the demon man was active, the girls will never return to themselves.

King Acrisius must die!

Roger faced the mad king. “Just you and me now.”

Acrisius laughed and rose off the throne. “I never expected you to do that. But I am glad I get to tear your head off.”

Roger glared. “You can try.”
