Medusa and Lewis walked up the stairway toward the museum's main entrance. Back in her human disguise, nobody suspected a thing. Even nobody startled at Lewis's hideous appearance while he wore his black hood.
When they approached the double glass door, Medusa pulled on the metal handle. "Blasted! It is locked!"
"Allow me." Lewis stepped toward the door and swung his stone fist through it.
The door shattered and a loud siren blasted through Medusa's ears. She covered her ears. "What is that damn noise?"
"The alarm!" Lewis exclaimed. "We must hurry before the pigs arrive!"
Medusa nodded and marched forward. She could handle the guardsmen when they arrive, but moving fast would help her reach the Cetus's skull quickly. If an army arrives, it will be more frustrating than the alarm.
In the main hall, a fat man in a uniform ran toward them, pointing his gun. "Hold it right there!"
Medusa stepped in front of Lewis and blasted her stone glaze attack. The fat human dropped his gun as he turned into stone.
Medusa's skin shifted back into her green color and her snakes hissed on her head. Indeed, her special attack has a cost, but no one else would be around to see her authentic form.
In the middle of the hall, she looked around, staring at the multiple corridors and the front desk. "How can we find it? It'sss like the minotaur'sss labyrinth here."
Lewis approached the map on the left wall near the desk. "Look at this. It will show us the way."
Medusa stared at the map and smiled.
The map displayed all the rooms throughout the museum. Each room has the name of the exhibit. Paintings, sculptures, science, history, nature, and a diner next to the gift shop. But where could the Cetus be at?
"Thisss map doesssn't tell me where the ssskull isss located," said Medusa.
Lewis pointed his stone finger at the room toward the upper left corner on the map. "I think it is on display at the nature section."
"You been here before?"
"Once when I was a kid. Museums are boring."
Medusa giggled. "Lead the way."
She followed Lewis into the painting section where she spotted different paintings hanging across the white walls. None of the portraits originated from her old home in Greek. Each one has a unique art style from different time periods and counties.
If Medusa had time, she could explore the museum to learn more about the new world. But already the museum was on high alert.
From the sculpture chamber, two guards raced toward Medusa and Lewis. They stopped and aimed their guns at them.
"Stop right there!" one of them shouted.
Medusa blasted them into stone statues. With her power, nothing could stop her.

Behind her, she heard a gunshot, and then a sharp pain struck her left leg. "Arrrrh!"
She fell to the floor and found a bleeding hole in her leg. What incredible weapons the guards have!
Lewis roared and charged toward the guard who shot her. The guard fired more shots, but the bullets bounced off Lewis's icy stone skin.
The golem swung his fist into the guard's face, so hard, the guard's head exploded into gore as a water balloon popped.
He turned around and approached Medusa. "Are you alright, my mistress?"
Medusa pointed her staff at her wound. While glowing yellow, the staff shot a flash at her wound, and then the hole in her green flesh vanished. Even the bullet in her leg dissipated, too.
"I am fine," she whispered, raising up. "We mussst move quickly!"
They dashed into the sculpture chamber and took cover behind a naked marble statue of a man. Toward the end of the chamber, two guards aimed their guns while looking around. Both of them stood in Medusa’s path, but not for long. “Lewis, get them!”
Her golem nodded and charged.
She knew the bullets could harm her, but not Lewis. Using him as her shield was the best strategy for her.
As Lewis raced toward the guards, they shot at him. Still, the bullets deflected off Lewis's skin, echoing like blades scratching rock.
With a roar, Lewis leaped and knocked both the guards down as he landed between them. Before they got up, Lewis crushed their skulls.
Medusa strolled forward from her cover. "Well done, my minion. I will gladly reward you after thisss heissst."
Lewis smiled at her.
A loud bell rang over the archway to the nature chamber. Then a metal door slid down and blocked the path.
Medusa pointed her scepter at the door. "Open it!"
Lewis charged into the shutter door, but he fell back. He rose and punched the door. "It's too strong!"
Medusa stepped toward the shutter door and pushed him back. "Never mind. Protect me while I open it."
While Lewis watched her back, Medusa aimed her staff at the bottom of the door and shot a red beam at it. The red beam melted through the metal like a sunbeam burning through candle wax.
"We have company!" Lewis warned.
Three guards rushed toward the intruders and fired their guns. Lewis growled and charged.
Medusa kept her serpent eyes on the door while she heard beatings and cries behind her. Stupid humans should give up while they still have a chance.
After drawing a half circle through the door, the round section fell backward, revealing the nature chamber.
Medusa held up her staff and looked back. "It's open!"
Lewis approached her, covered in blood. Behind, the guards' broken bodies laid in puddles of blood. Smashed skulls and organs tangled from their torn stomachs. She made the best murder machine to serve her needs.
Inside the nature chamber, fossil bones hung from the ceiling, and glass boxes with stuffed animals inside stood against the white walls. At the center, a giant reptile skeleton stood on two legs. It reminded Medusa of a Dracone, but it was probably a different species.
Medusa walked past the malicious specimen until she approached the back and smiled.
The giant stone head of Cetus rested inside a giant glass case with a sign below it.
"Marvelousssss!" Medusa approached the case and placed her green hand on the glass. "Perssseusss usssed my head to ssslay thisss poor beassst after he killed me. But sssoon I ssshall undo what he done to thisss creature. And the world will bow down before usss."
Lewis stared at the glass display. "How will you carry that thing? It's big as hell."
Medusa turned to him. "I can perform a sssimple ritual to ssshrink it down to the neccesssary sssize. It will take time and you mussst watch my back."
"Whatever you say."
Medusa rubbed his chin. "Of courssse you will. You are my favorite."
Lewis smiled with red cheeks.
Medusa could tell he was falling for her, but that was good. The more he finds her attractive, the more she will trust him.
She couldn't wait to feel his brawny body against her vulnerable flesh in bed. But first, she needed to begin her work for the sake of her conquest.
