Book Four: Chapter 16

Roger slowly opened his eyes, wincing as his head throbbed with pain. He tried to sit up, but a sharp ache shot through his body. He looked around and realized he was on top of a building. Rubbing his eyes, he tried to remember what had happened. Then, it hit him. He recalled a flying creature attacking the Chinook and causing it to crash. But how did he end up here?

Suddenly, he heard the sound of wings flapping. Roger turned his head, and there it was. The creature that caused the crash. Without a second thought, Roger darted behind a nearby crate, hoping the creature wouldn't spot him.

As he crouched, he noticed something odd. His muscles felt different, almost like they were bulging with strength. It suddenly dawned on Roger that he still had his god-like strength!

"What the hell am I doing?" Roger muttered to himself. With newfound confidence, he leaped out from his hiding place and charged at the creature. The creature was taken aback by Roger's sudden burst of strength, but it wasn't going down without a fight.

Roger and the creature grappled, each trying to gain the upper hand. The creature snarled and snapped its sharp teeth, but Roger managed to gain control. With a swift punch, Roger knocked the creature out cold.

As Roger caught his breath, he noticed a walkie-talkie lying nearby. He picked it up and answered it.

"Roger, where are you?" a voice crackled through the device. It was Agent Rolf.

Roger looked around, trying to get his bearings. "I am not sure. What is your position?" he asked.

"We are outside the mall. Where are you?" Rolf asked, his voice tense.

Roger spotted a nearby restaurant with a cat statue eating a bowl of noodles.

"There's a restaurant near me. Let's meet there," he said.

"Copy that. We'll be there soon with the Cerberus women," Rolf replied.

Roger hoped they would arrive soon. He was in a strange place, surrounded by unknown dangers. But with his strength, he was ready for whatever came his way.

After Roger switched the walkie-talkie off, something grabbed his leg and pulled him into the air off the roof.

While hanging upside down, Roger saw the flying creature carrying him, using one of its long tentacles. He thought he had knocked the thing out cold. Perhaps it needed another beating.

From his vest, he pulled out a knife and sawed the tentacle. The creature screamed and dropped him.

Roger fell, screaming his lungs out. The air rushed into his face as the street flew toward him.

As he hit something soft and warm, he heard a voice behind him. "You okay?"

Roger groaned and looked down to see Agent Rolf standing next to the Cerberus women. The women held Roger in their big muscled arms.

"I've been better," Roger muttered, rubbing his aching head.

"That was a close one," Rolf said, looking up at the sky where the creature had disappeared.

"Yeah, maybe next time, don't cut off its tentacles," Labda quipped.

Roger chuckled weakly. "Noted."

He was relieved to be with his team again, knowing that they had his back.
