Chapter 49: The Spider
The spider was larger than any Scitus had ever seen, its large pincers hid its large fangs. And its six eyes stared into the goblins souls. Beside Scitus were forty-two goblins. they trembled in fear of the spider but twelve mighty goblins stood as solid pillars among them. the thirty spiders were the goblins lost in the carnivorous plant field, they had all survived being eaten alive. The plants were slowly eating them with a weak acid that tenderized them. one goblin was enough to keep those plants alive for a year.
Scitus managed to find them before any of them died but they were horribly disfigured and trembled at the sight of him but when they learned he was a god and saw the twelve goblins who stood beside him, they calmed and then cheered. They had been rescued from the jaws of death and they hoped then peace soon.
Robin easily calmed them with the help of one of the former elders who was lost.
The spider eyed Scitus and seemingly smiled behind his pincers and sharp fangs. “Oh I’ve waited for you for quite some time, awfully boring here you see, but when I saw you fall from the sky, I knew great things were coming.” His voice was eerie and oozed down the goblins spines and even Scitus couldn’t help but be alarmed. His manner of speech was formal and yet intimidating.
"you seem to imply that you're trapped here." The spider's grin grew larger, revealing dozens of sets of small teeth above his throat but Scitus did not waver.
"you are clever, far more clever than that Onias believes himself to be." He whispered and paused for a moment, as if deciding something, before continuing. "yes, I am trapped here, trapped here my by former master Onias." The spider walked closer to Scitus extending one of its sharp legs and placing it right next to Scitus's throat. "I had him by the throat, but he cursed me before I could finish… how disappointing." The spider lowered its leg and took a few steps back.

Scitus had hoped to make the spider his ally, but its nature was a problem. The spider clearly showed his scheming nature but the question was why it had revealed itself so obviously.
"why are you telling me this?" the spider, using its two front legs, peeled its mouth open revealing a human head and then arms, and finally a torso and legs. It was as if the monstrous creature had shed its skin and become a human. now, where there was once a horrendous and frightful spider was an eerie and handsome man in a thick black suit made of its old carcass but seemingly made of fabric.
“I’m bored, I’ve been trapped here for far too long. Only ever receiving information from my less evolved brothers and sisters.” The spider pointed to several little spiders that slowly began to crawl out of his suit.
“I ask you to free me and in return, I will serve you.” The handsome man smiled, chilling the hearts of every goblin present.
“You ask me to free a man who betrayed his former master.” Scitus was calm on the outside but within he could not help but feel somewhat startled. The vampire was frightening, but the spider was many times more terrifying.
“why of course, as I’ve said you are far more clever then my former master, I’m sure you will not fall for the same tricks.” Scitus watchedthe spiders movements making sure to guard his followers. “So you admit that you will betray me.”
The handsome laughed a menacing laugh that could frighten any ordinary human. “but of course I’ll betray you, it’s my nature. I told him the same thing too. I will betray you, but I promise I will not lie to you. That I swear on my life.” The man walked closer to Scitus, stepping on the muddy ground he moved his face mere inches from Scitus. “You see, it’s all a game to me and I’ve never lost, I bring about peoples own ruin, but I… only ever provide what is asked of me.”
“A deal with the devil is that it?” the man smiled, “Oh but I am far more devilish than they.”
"Onias escaped." Scitus said as he gestured his goblins to stand behind him. "oh did he? I am alive while he is still so frightened of even daring to speak of that place." There was a long silence as the two great beings stared at each other.
“I’ll consider freeing you, but I cannot make these decisions alone.” The man smiled as he slowly backed away from Scitus. “How fun, the more the merrier I say. The more lives I can ruin.”
“you will find, that those who have my respect are not so easily manipulated into self-ruin.”
“I’m counting on it, young god.”
