Chapter 27: No Longer The Weakest Part 2
The walls stood proud and tall but it was meeting its end, it wailed with creeks and cracks as the ogres pounded against them. The walls wanted to protect their creators for just a bit longer, but the damage was already too great, the walls crashed to the ground with a loud BOOM, dust rose of the earth temporarily blind the ogres and goblins, before the mighty fallen walls was their designer, Scitus. Beside him stood the 3 cores, The Shield knights, the Spartan knights, who would later be known as the Holy Knights, and the Moon Knights. Valentine was there too, beside his Juliet. Their job, to stall the ogres for the escape of their people. Or at least this is what Scitus had told them.
"RAGH!!!!!" The ogres screamed in a mad rage and charged forward. the ogres began to pound without any intellect or design, they only wildly flailed their ferocious strength. This allowed Rey to kick them one in the stomach with relative ease, knocking it down. William attacked the ogres' legs and Thomas defended, While the moon knights pulled Silver who injured his arm out of the battle. Their numbers were quickly dwindling, the injuries were growing, until all that was left was Thomas and William against 23 slightly weakened Ogres. The 18 goblins lasted only a minute before they began to be overwhelmed but even so, this Moment would forever be imprinted into the minds of the goblins who saw this battle. Because this day was the day that Goblins would no longer be called weak.
“RAH!!!!!” Screams from the south side resounded through the forest, SCitus didn’t look to check, he instinctively knew. It was 412 goblins, the ones that had been added to his population. They charged forth like a true horde with such immense courage that no one would believe that only a few days prior they were on the brink of losing all hope. But they saw it, the power of a god, he had given them a chance to stand against ogres, a monster feared by even the humans.
"Bring him back!!" Scitus ordered Juliet as William's arm broke under the weight of ogre, "Go!!" William begged Thomas to run, to run and take everyone with him but Thomas was not ready to run, he would not run. 6 ogres stood before him, their arms were already coming down and his shield was torn to pieces, his arms collapsed under the sheer weight of the punches, he fell to the ground. He thought his life was forfeit but before the ogres even attempted a second attack, they ran, they ran towards the forest, deeper and deeper still until no one could see them anymore.
“Master, the leader is escaping.” Robins words echoed in his head and he smiled as he heard Robin’s next words. “we will return to you now.” Robin was quickly learning how to make decisions in war, surely the war books within Thoth and Hera had not gone to waste.
The true leader had escaped before the assassin knights could deal with him, but he was seen and spied on by the knights, the leader hadn't noticed them return into the forest, he had been too focused on the battle. Robin wanted to attack but he knew that he didn't have enough information to assert the leader's strength. So instead he and his unit watched him, his every movement even when he shot arrows, this was how the shield bearers always knew when an arrow was coming, and they watched him cast magic on himself. In the end, Robin decided it would be best to allow for the leader to escape, they had a different job to do anyway.
"Shoot it" Scitus ordered Cecilia and her unit, who were hidden behind the boulder near the tree Scitus used for meditation, they were to be the final distraction once all the soldiers were out of the battle, this would allow for a quicker and safer escape, but they also had a different mission. "yes master"
Arrows flew through the air but they were not meant to kill or to injure. "RAGN!!" an Ogre yelped as he felt 6 hemp ropes trip him as he ran. Yes the arrows shot were attached to hemp once they reached their destination, twenty feet or so, the max range for this trap, a person on the other side of the ogre would pick the hemp up, in this case, the assassin knights, then the archer would pull the hemp tightly so that the ogre would trip, normally the ogre would just break through with ease taking the two goblins with her, but her legs were practically broken and even if her mind told her to ignore the damage her body couldn't so she collapsed. The other ogres, of course, ignored their comrade. They could not help her, they were mad and could only follow the orders given to them. The next thing the ogre saw was the assassin knights ran towards him, cutting his at his feet. He didn't understand why but he could move his feet anymore, then they cut his arms, it had the same effect he could no longer move a single limb, the goblins had cut his tendons to prevent any movement.
The battle was finally over, the Last ogre was considered a prisoner and therefore Scitus’s healing powers activated. A black aura began to spread around the wounds of the injured, in only a few moments, broken bones and internal bleeding disappeared without a trace.
The narrative has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the infringement.
"this is no fluke" Sia muttered under her breath as she carefully examined the healing aura. The goblins around her looked at the 5 units in absolute awe. Their minds were mesmerized, they wanted nothing more theb to go up to them and ask how they became so strong, but then they saw the Human who stood beside a large ogre. They had been so entranced by the Goblin fighters that they had not noticed him.
"Seresa you can come back now," Sciitus called to Seresa to come back, he needed her for something, she could hear it in his voice. It didn't take her and the goblin residents long to return, they had only made it several hundred feet into the forest.
The goblin tribes did not dare move a muscle, then a singular goblin moved forward, the quiet goblin from the outside tribes. "I know.." She said as she looked into Robin's eyes. His eyes widened when he realized who she was. It was the first girl he had ever loved. They hadn't seen each other in 5 years, a number he could now clearly identify, he understood how long it had truly been since he last her.
"I know." He answered back with a warm smile. This simple act gave one of the many elder's courage to speak. Seresa had already run ahead and stood by Scitus. Scitus spoke to her, the elder didn't understand the words. "Who?" he asked, pointing at scitus.
"That, god." Robin answered, he quickly began to feel uncomfortable speaking in the goblin tongue, it was difficult and had many useless movements. He smiled thinking back at how troubled Scitus must have been having to speak to them with such simple words when so many complicated ideas existed.
"he god!!" Murmurs were whispered throughout the tribes. They asked, why a human? Could he be trusted, some felt nervous and afraid, that is until,
"Not worry, Good god, good god." Seresa walked close to the elders, she had an eye for those kinds of goblins. The elders nearly gasped as they saw her holding Scitus's hand in hers. This was meant to prove that Scitus was not disgusted with goblins, he did not fear to touch them, though to Seresa she wished it had a different meaning.
"I not bad, I protect." Scitus released his grip Seresa and patted her on the head for finding the best way to convince the other goblins, that is what he had asked her to do. Further murmurs could be heard as Scitus revealed his ability to speak in the goblin tongue.
Even so, the goblins were not easily convinced, they were wary of humans, even more so then Maxwell's tribe since they faced many injustices at the hands of humans, though some did think back to the woman who had allowed them to escape from the godless.
Seresa smiled, coyly, she had an idea, an idea that would prove Scitus’s kind heart and quell her burning heart for a short period. Her intelligence had not robbed her of her mischievousness, she had only hidden it to lead the others well. “WHA!!” the goblins murmured louder than before, they hadn’t expected it, nor did William who felt slightly annoyed at his sister for acting inappropriately.
While Scitus tried speaking with the goblins, she jumped and kissed him on the check. Even Scitus was slightly taken aback before accepting it as Seresa's way of helping, however odd it was. He patted her on the head again, she smiled on the outside but on the inside, she was burning up with embarrassment and anger. Embarrassment from kissing him and anger from the fact that he had not understood her true intentions. Hera would later explain the Scitus was a man with little sexual appetite and a man with little social interaction, a man one who ignored most obvious advances of affection for a peculiar reason.
The planned worked as she had hoped, and the goblins quickly began to trust Scitus or at least they no longer feared him as much. his eyes were kind as he looked upon them and there was no sign of disgust when he was kissed. He didn’t mind it, he didn’t mind them.
"now… what are you doing here?" He looked at Sia with eyes that said that their business had been dealt with, though this was simply a ploy, he required her assistance this time. She smiles and smugly puts one arm around him. The two were about the same height at 5 foot 6 so it didn't look too strange in fact they looked like a couple of friends if you ignored Scitus's glare and Sia's smug face that said she wanted something. "oh, I've come to join your wonderful country of course." She said as she stretched her left arm and waved at the sky.
"I can tell whether you're a member or not." She smiles as scitus removes her arm from his shoulder. "haha, you are still so young, a trained person can easily pretend to be a member of your country." As she said this her status from neutral changed to a member. Within the game there were spies but he had not thought that spies could be counted as an actual part of the population when it became real. It made perfect sense, you can't spy on someone if the god can easily identify you.
“So don’t worry my dear little god.” She was being arrogant and he could hear her sense regality a lot more clearly. “I suggest you tread lightly because I am not a pushover, I simply didn’t want to cause unnecessary problems. ” His eyes pierced hers, he wasn’t afraid of her like others had been. She thought it was because the young god thought himself invincible but the longer their staring contest went on the more she understood that he didn’t care for his life to begin with.
"I'm not here to cause trouble" She broke their gaze, she decided to play it differently this time around. "I've taken an interest in you, Simply put, I'll help you with whatever you need as long as you answer my questions for you. " Her smile was not warm, it was cold and calculated, she had her agenda, Scitus understood that, but having a powerful ally was not something to squander in a time when his colony was still too weak to handle external threats.
"Very well." He extends his hands to meet hers. "are you also capable of making contracts?" Scitus smiled, "so she's already read that far in the book", he thought.
“Not yet, this is merely a custom from where I am from.”
The two shook hands, many if not all the goblins were surprised that the red witch had made an agreement, she had always been one to cause havoc or peace as she desired. Goblins like Seresa, and others who have learned English, had an extended thought. For how long will she remain cooperative? She was a double edge sword, something they didn’t know when they made the deal with her for the ingredients to summon a god.
"now that that's said and done with, I have a question." It was time for Scitus to satisfy her curiosity or face the consequences.
