Felix sat on Dawson's bed, leaning against the wall. He continued to caress Dawson's head, Felix then made a questioning noise, indicating that he was still waiting for Dawson's reply. Dawson then sat up, propping this head on Felix’s shoulder, “Don’t worry your pretty little head about it.”
Felix smiled, keeping small eye contact with Dawson.
“Um… do you have plastic..?” Felix asked, turning his head away.
Dawson laughed, now happy with what he did. Finding an empty water bottle, he handed it to Felix. Felix took it and spit up a glob, it smoked slightly and warmed his hands.
“Wow, that's small,” Dawson commented.
“Hm?”
Felix looked down at the glob in the bottle, it was barely filling the bottom of the container when it usually made it to the halfway point.
“There’s basically nothing in there?” Dawson questioned, looking closer.
“And I didn't really hurt this time, I kinda just felt like spitting,” Felix admitted.
“That's so odd,” Dawson said, “Hey, don't start running empty! We need those globs for our plan.”
“It's not as if I know how to, like… reload it!” Felix huffed.
As he said that, a memory then flashed in his mind, something Vongrax had told him. Something he had almost forgotten, or at least tried to.
“Sadness is the key to the globs, it bubbles up inside of you, and it will come out one way or another. Thanks to her, you have this power, creating the worst memories but the best globs. What is the opposite of sadness? Think about that, you worthless mortal. Beware of that strong emotion. Whoever makes you feel it the most, I believe you should stick with. The same goes with the ladder emotion. Stick with her, and you will be prosperous.”

The words bubbled over in Felix’s head like water boiling. He shivered with fear and intensity.
“Felix, stop ignoring me. It's making my headache worse.” Dawson demanded, frustrated.
Felix’s eyes flickered over to Dawson’s again, this time being greeted with upset ones. Dawson lifted his head off Felix’s shoulder and raised an eyebrow, “What?”
“I… can't be happy…”
“What?” Dawson asked again, shocked.
“I will lose the globs… if I'm not upset,” Felix uttered.
“You're confusing me, what do you mean? Being happy is the way the globs are made!” Dawson explained.
Felix blinked over and over again, “I… never told you… Vongrax said something to me. It explained how my power worked…”
“Oh… well…How does it work?” Dawson mumbled quietly, slightly feeling betrayed he was never told.
“Vongrax… told me, like, a riddle or something. Basically, how happiness and sadness were how the globs were made… It said my sadness creates the best globs.” Felix’s voice cracked.
“And…. You’re not sad here?” Dawson guessed, putting his thoughts together.
“It was her, she was the… fuel for my power.” Felix put his head down.
“Her?” Dawson questioned quietly, “You’re mom?”
Felix cringed at that word and his eyes began to get wet, “Without that godforsaken woman…. I’ll lose my power… without me being fucking depressed, I lose my power!” Felix croaked, tears falling down his cheeks.
Dawson quickly pulled him close and hugged him, Felix put his head in Dawson’s chest and cried. Dawson rocked him side to side but didn’t know what to say. How were you supposed to comfort someone who needed to stay sad to be useful?
“You… you can stay happy.” Dawson started.
“I can’t…” Felix whimpered.
“You can! I told you, I have plenty of spare globs saved up! You don’t even need to make more right now! You’re fine, I’m fine, the plan is fine. I mean, I doubt this plan even requires a full bottle!” Dawson looked down to see if his words were helping, “You’re worrying over nothing!”
Felix sniffed pathetically and nodded his head.
“I hope so.”
