Chapter 44

Dawson closed his eyes as he started the possession process. He thought about her arms, her legs, her twisted face, her long nails with the dirty polish. Dawson’s subconscious floated out of his own body as if it were being pulled out with a fishing wire. Just as that happened, the terrifying feeling of falling all the way back down came. He tapped his fingers together, making sure he was in a body, and not floating in the black pit of limbo. Opening his eyes, he sees he's sat on a bed. Dawson stood up and walked a bit to a mirror, to get a good look at the new body he invaded.

Vicky

Dawson looked at the mirror and the wretched woman stared back.

“I should do what I did with Ms. Ann,” Dawson thought, not wanting to hear Vicky’s voice.

Dawson almost smiled at that thought, but a vision of Felix’s face popped into his mind. When he did that to Ms. Ann, Felix wasn't impressed or swooned, he was disturbed and scared, scared of Dawson. Dawson swallowed, the taste of cigarettes hitting his mouth. He turned around and checked his surroundings. A small room with a bed and a few other amenities, a motel room.

“A motel!” Dawson thought again.

He looked at the clock mounted on the wall, noting he only had about 3 minutes left. He started to scramble around, tearing the room apart to find the name of the building. Finding nothing, he ripped open the door and ran down some stairs to find the main lobby. Dawson burst into the lobby, making the employees jump.

“What's the name!” He yelled, cringing at the hoarse voice of the women coming out of him.

“W-what name, ma'am?” One of the employees exclaimed back.

“Of the goddamn hotel!” Dawson roared, feeling an inkling of a headache move from his own body to the one he currently was residing in.

“The Grand Border Motel! Please calm down and stop cursing!”

“Finally. Thank fuck.” Dawson griped.

“I said stop cursing-”

Dawson closed his eyes and floated out of the body and fell back into his with a violent jerk.

“Jesus!” Felix jumped, “You scared me!”

“Grand Border… Grand Border…” Dawson muttered to himself standing up wobbly.

“Wow! Dawson, sit down! You shouldn't be standing!” Felix warned.

Dawson ignored his friend's words and searched for a sticky note and a pencil, while continuing to mumble under his breath, trying to remember the motel's name. He finally scribbled it down, backed his way up to his bed, and flopped on it. Finding his way to Felix’s thigh, to gently lay his head on it.

“Dawson, who did you possess? That was almost 5 minutes?” Felix whispered, patting Dawson's head.

Dawson chewed at his bottom lip, questioning if he should tell Felix about his mom.
