Felix’s brain was empty as he sat in the passenger seat of Dawson's truck. Felix wasn’t sure if Dawson knew about his mom, but he definitely didn’t want him to. The quiet ride to school came to a close as Dawson turned into the school’s student parking.
“Felix, will you be sitting at that lunch table I saw you at before?” Dawson asked, turning off the ignition.
“Where else would I sit?”
“Yeah, you're right. Ok, I’ll meet you there.” Dawson said, getting out of the truck.
He helped Felix out and they started walking up to the building, that was until Felix yelled, “Dawson! We don’t have our bags!”
Dawson stopped in his tracks and thought back to yesterday, realizing that their bags were both still on the floor of his room. Just then, the buzz of Dawson's phone went off. He looked at it, and it was a picture Octavia sent, of Wyatt sitting in between their bags.
“I’m dead meat,” Dawson muttered, rolling his head back, then texting her to bring them to school.
“You two!” A voice called out.
Felix’s and Dawson’s heads both swivel around to see the one lady they really weren’t ready for, Ms. Ann.
If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
“Are you both skipping? That is absolutely-”
Ding!
A metallic-sounding “ding” filled that air, and Ms. Ann’s eyes grew to an uncomfortably big size. Her big eyes looked the boys up and down, she looked at Dawson and then moved to Felix. The staring caused Felix to wrap his arms around himself for protection. Felix timed the staring in his head, “32 Mississippi… 33 Mississippi…34 Mississippi…”
“Both you boys have detention after school. Dawson, you already did, but now you too Felix.” Ms. Ann said after 35 Mississippi.
“Ok…” Felix answered, rubbing his arms.
“To class.”
Felix and Dawson walked down the hall, towards their shared class.
“What do you think that sound was?” Dawson asked quietly.
“I don't know,” Felix answered in a monotone voice.
“Are you ok? Did she scare you?” Dawson asked, concerned.
“No… well yes… But it’s not that. I have a detention. They’re going to tell my mom. She’s not going to be happy about it.” Felix answered as his voice wavered.
“Hey, look.” Dawson stood in front of Felix and made him look at him, “I won’t let her do anything to you, ok?”
Felix flinched slightly as a glob formed in his gut.
“You….. a glob…” Felix mumbled under his breath.
“Hm?”
“You gave me a glob…!” Felix admitted louder.
A cocky smirk came to Dawson’s lips, but it disappeared fast.
“Can you hold it?” Dawson asked.
“Yeah, for now.” Felix nodded his head while laying his hand on his stomach.
“Good. Now, let's get to class!” Dawson exclaimed, grabbing Felix’s hand and running down the hall.
