Chapter 32

Dawson was awoken by Octavia shaking him. He opened his eyes, glancing at his alarm clock, which read 11:34, Octavia didn't make him go to school.

“Hm…?” Dawson asked groggily.

“I gotta go out now, sleep with Wyatt while I'm gone,” Octavia responded, laying Wyatt down on top of Dawson.

“Mh hm…” Dawson said, wrapping his arm around the baby.

“I’ll be back in a few hours,” Octavia said, turning to leave the room. “And wake up soon… you loser.”

Dawson then closed his eyes again, enjoying the small, warm, comforting body lying on his chest.

Dawson appeared in a small white room that had nothing in it. He was only able to take 5 steps before he would hit the other wall. Then, a loud sound started playing, sounding like an obnoxious bass that had no rhythm. It was so loud, Dawson was forced to cover his ears, if he didn't his eardrums might have burst. As the noise seemed to have gotten louder, the monster fazed through the wall.

“Vangrax…” Dawson uttered, remembering the name from Ms. Ann.

“You!” The monster, Vangrax, boomed over the noise.

Dawson unintentionally cowered down, backing himself into the nearest corner.

“You have done something that will not go unpunished! You detestable pig!” Vangrax roared.

“N-no I-” Dawson tried to mutter.

“No?! You dare say that word to me?!” Vangrox snapped.

“I didn't do anything!” Dawson declared, finding his confidence to stand at his full height.

Vangrox’s eyes widened and it started walking towards Dawson, taking huge strides. Dawson gulped as he pushed himself farther into the corner, turning his head away from the beast. Vangrox bent its 9-foot stature down to Dawson's level. Its huge goat's head breathed heavily on Dawson's cheek, making it clammy and moist.

“You will not disrespect me.”

Dawson held back a gag as the smell of the monster's breath assaulted his nose. He knew being his normal “I'll bite you” self, will get him nowhere but a grave. He had to not resist, he had to just be quiet for once. Dawson gulped and turned his eyes to look at the beast, Its square goat eyes bored into his soul.

“What did I… do?” Dawson softened his voice to not provoke the alien anymore.

“What did you do?! You murdered….” Vangrox gritted its teeth, “You murdered her… Ann’athy…”

“Ann…? Ms. Ann-”

The alien quickly snatched Dawson's face, squeezing it in between its large 4-fingered hand.

“You do not have the right to utter her name, human. Such a revolting word. The human I chose…. turns out to be just as bad as the rest of them.” Vangrox said to itself.

It then stood at its full height, with Dawson's face still in its clutch. Dawson heard his heart in his ears as his feet left the floor.

“The human camp she worked at. I'll be destroying it now. After four moons leave the sky, it will be gone. It is tainted now… as well as useless. You, people, seem to love it so much, you go every day but two. You took away something I loved, now I shall do the same to you.” Vangrox brought Dawson close to its face.

“I'm… sorry.” Dawson trembled.

“Hm. I don't accept apologies.”

As the beast said its final words, it dropped Dawson down. But instead of crumbling to the ground, Dawson kept falling into the ground. Into a hole, which seemed to suddenly appear. The falling seemed to last an eternity, but finally, he landed on his bed. Dawson woke up with a jolt from the falling sensation, causing Wyatt to whine from the sudden movement.

“No… No… I’m sorry…” Dawson cooed at the baby.

He tapped rhythmically on Wyatt's back as he let out a loud sigh.

“We are in so much trouble…” Dawson groaned quietly.
