Chapter 35

Felix went rigid hearing what Dawson did and his dream.

“So… you killed her.”

“I… uh… did,” Dawson mumbled, now feeling like he shouldn’t have.

“Do you feel bad? Like… she died because of you…?” Felix shuttered.

“Well… yeah, of course I do.” Dawson lied.

“Then… Why did you do it?” Felix asked.

Dawson looked around Felix’s face for an excuse for his actions.

“Felix, stop asking dumb questions. We have to do something about the school!” Dawson exclaimed, changing the subject.

“Wha- why?” Felix asked, surprised.

“Huh?! We need to keep everyone from, you know, dying?” Dawson explained.

“Well, I’m not sure why. None of them like me, and I don’t like them. So, why would I risk my life to save theirs?” Felix retorted.

“We… don’t know when it’s gonna happen.” Dawson lied again, “We could be at school the day it happens.”

“Oh…” Felix realized.

Dawson hadn’t completely told Felix about the dream. He hadn’t told him it would be in 7 days, only that the monster would blow up the school.

“It said it would happen this week, but I don’t know what day. It could even be tomorrow!” Dawson fibbed again.

Felix let his head fall back, bumping the wall behind him slightly.

“God… of course… What are we going to do…? Like, should we tell people?” Felix sighed.

“Tell people, hm? Let’s think back to the first day we met… how well did that work out for you?” Dawson reminded him.

Felix thought back to that day, how when he told the police, they thought he was on drugs.

“Oh, m-maybe that’s not a good idea…?” Felix mumbled.

“Yeah, ya think?”

“Ok! You think of something!” Felix huffed with annoyance.

“Uh…” Dawson racked his empty mind for an idea, “We can do some research on it.”

“Research on how to stop a school from being blown up? And you say I’m crazy…” Felix rolled his eyes.

“God fuckin- We just need to get the whole school out for a week! So, let’s research that, hm?” Dawson hissed.

“Ok… hand me the computer.”

Dawson rubbed the touchpad to bring the computer back to life and then placed it on Felix’s lap. Felix lifted his dominant hand towards the keyboard and froze. His casted arm prevented him from any finger movement. Dawson and Felix both fell silent, the reality of their situation hitting them hard.

“I can't…” Felix’s voice cracked.

“Hey… it’s ok. I’ll type for you.” Dawson rubbed Felix’s thigh, taking the laptop again.

Felix slumped back with a quiet sigh and said, “I was going to look up disasters that made schools close… for inspiration, I guess.”

“That’s a really good idea!” Dawson praised Felix, trying to make him feel better, “I bet something helpful will come up.”

Felix felt his face warm as a slight smirk worked its way to his lips.

In a mumble, Felix whispered, “I like being praised.”

Pride and lust-filled, Dawson replied, “I know.”
