Felix stood in the lonely, black, empty void, eyes straining to see something, anything. Confused about how he got there and where ‘there’ was. Felix looked down at his hands and shivered when he realized his fingers were hazy, fading in and out of existence. He touched them together, and his hands felt tingly and empty.
“Felix…”
Felix’s ears pricked up as he heard his name, but he couldn't pinpoint where from.
“Felix…”
He looked around hesitantly.
“Answer me, you worthless mongrel!”
“Y-yes..!” Felix answered the voice that was coming out of the blackness around him.
Felix swallowed heavily, the voice he heard was deep and gravelly, it was absolutely terrifying.
“Of course, a weak and pitiful human is scared of me….’’ The voice said to itself arrogantly.
‘What…?” Felix questioned, looking around to see where the voice originated from.
A monster then stomped out of the darkness, large boots rumbling the ground as it walked close up to Felix. It had massive ram horns that curled up with a sharp point at the end and a face resembling a goat's but distorted. The beast had no ears, its eyes were bulging out of its sockets, and its mouth extended far beyond where a normal goat's should. But the body, surprisingly, resembled a human, but also, just, wrong. The monster stood unbelievably tall, around 9 feet, maybe taller. Its body was swollen and grotesque, with large muscles barely being contained by a black bodysuit. The monster had objects Felix couldn’t even name hanging off a holster-looking belt. The beast was objectively ‘sci-fi’ looking, and that scared Felix.
Felix let out a quiet, trembling laugh, feeling a bead of sweat run down his neck, that was until he felt a stinging pain on his cheek; he had been slapped.
“Human, I know your ignorant brain is struggling to comprehend what I'm saying. But you are going to listen to me; I shall eradicate or, as you mortals say, blow up this trash hole you call Earth.” The monster said emotionlessly.
“What!? Why!?’’ Felix exclaimed; he felt his heart pick up its pace.
“Because! It’s sickening and revolting; your world is filled to the brim with murder and corrupted politicians. It’s polluted and already on death's doorstep; blowing it up will change nothing, it was going to happen anyway. I wanted some fun, might as well destroy a dying planet.’’ The monster growled at Felix.
He cowered back and said, “Well… why tell me…?’’
He felt a cold breeze go past the back of his neck, even though there was no way the wind could be there.
“Because I like a challenge,” The monster smiled, and a flat laugh left its wide mouth.
Then, the beast backed up as the darkness consumed it. Immediately as it went, Felix started feeling dizzy, and then he blacked out.

Felix woke up in a cold sweat. Messy brown hair sticking to his forehead and tears rolling down the sides of his face. Then he heard his door open as his mom walked in, and she said, “God- are you crying? Again!? You fuckin’ crybaby; I am so damn tired of you… and you're late, get up now!’’
Suddenly, Felix didn’t have any motivation to get out of bed, he felt as if his mother had sucked up the little bit of energy he had, leaving him an empty husk. He forced his body out of bed, having an aching pain all over. Felix wished he was dreaming again because he didn’t have to deal with his life there. He then remembered his dream, so he quickly got dressed in his favorite loose-fitting, purple sweatshirt, and ran downstairs to tell his mom, “A monster was going to blow up the world!’’
“...What?’’
Felix thought to himself, “Why did I tell her that? Why did I just willingly talk to her? It was like someone was controlling me…” Felix had to continue, “It...it told me itself…”
“When?”
“J-just now. In my d-dream!’’ Felix piped with as much confidence as he could muster.
“You’re a goddamn idiot, you can’t do anything about a dream, get to school,’’ Felix’s mom said without looking up from her phone.
“But mom-’’ Felix tried to say.
“School! Now!’’ His mom yelled as her pale face got red.
Felix flinched and sighed, then walked out of his house and made his way to school. Felix thought of someone else he could tell, not knowing why. He just felt an unbelievable urge to tell someone about his dream. When he saw the old payphone down the street, he thought about calling the one number he knew, the police. Then he started to think about it, “Were the authorities necessary? Of course, they were! Who else was going to help him? Wait… he doesn’t need the police; it was just a dream! But what if that was him predicting the future? Will it be his fault the world blows up?” He rustled the change in his pants pocket; he decided what to do.
“9-1-1, what’s your emergency?” Asked the operator.
“Um… someone is going to b-blow up the Earth,’’ Felix said with not as much confidence as before.
“A terrorist group? Where? Who?’’ The operator asked.
Felix hesitated for a second, he felt as if he had made a mistake.
“Sir-’’
“A monster..! Alien thing... but, d-don’t think I’m crazy! I just… it told me itself… And I don’t know… maybe I could be predicting the future…?’ Felix said quickly, feeling his throat close up.
“...Ok, when did it tell you…?’’
“I-in a d-dream.….” Felix mumbled, knowing he sounded like a maniac. He felt sweat beading up on his forehead.
“Well… we can’t do anything about a dream. But, Sir, have you been taking any pills- ” The operator huffed.
“Ok! Bye!” Felix hung up immediately and ran to school, mumbling to himself about the monster. When he got in front of the school, the other students were staring at him. Felix wanted to die, disappear, and crawl into a hole as everyone stared. Then he heard, “Dave, look at him! He is crazy, talking about dreams and hearing voices!”
“He hears voices? Gross, he should not be around us!”
“He is always doing weird things. Uhh, freak!”
Students all around him were making even more rumors about Felix being weird. Felix started scratching at his wrist, feeling tears fill his downturned, gray eyes, making his resting sad face look even worse.
“Why does bad stuff always happen to me?” Felix whispered to himself, digging at his wrist, causing his skin to peel apart and tear. He realized this and quickly covered his wrist; he didn’t want the teachers to call his mom again. He could only think about negative thoughts, but he didn’t want that; he wanted to be happy. He ultimately failed, he thought of the worst things he could have. Felix unconsciously started picking at his skin again, causing it to bleed even more. His chest tightened as he felt a pair of eyes on him; he turned around and saw one of the popular kids, Dawson, staring at him. Felix assumed he just gained another adversary, so decided to ignore it and go into class.
