Walking up to the display at the entrance of the academy, Nebel takes puts his left arm into the scanner and once more it greets him with the same special screen as the last time.

He swiftly scrolls down the list, seeing various classes he desperately needs, he also sees the professors available for each and notices a certain trend.
While beginner classes were mostly left up to younger professors like Rosa, from advanced onwards only a hand full of names were show and a few classes were even grayed out due to a lack of teachers… how odd.
Selecting beginner Nebel takes earth magic and air magic… he couldn’t keep relying on Bö she wasn’t always around… and anyway it’s the elder sibling’s job to help out not the other way around! As for air magic he was sure to need it and more knowledge never hurt.
Continuing to make selections, Nebel selects two intermediate classes as well… a five hour training course with a muscle head he had previously met and a lesson called intermediate magical studies.
Apparently learning any magic already encompassed the beginner level so he didn’t need to take it…
For his advance class he took the only one he could and selected advanced vectors. There was only one teacher on the list, he was going to have to deal with the grumpy old guy again but that was ok, he could deal with that.
Having finished selecting all of his free classes, the display returns to the regular screen and Nebel continues to select classes… even if it pains him to do so.

Selecting beginner Nebel searches the list and finds another class that had caught his eye, elemental mixing was quickly chosen and set to be one of his classes. Another lesson he decided to take was water magic and ice magic along with electrical magic since he wanted to cover the basic elements.
Even though he already had the title of arch mage in permanent spells. Nebel actually had very little information on them, were there weaknesses other than time and effort? He didn’t know so he decided to select both the intermediate and the advanced class.
…after paying with his card Nebel looks at the balance, it had been reduced all the way down to just one thousand, eight hundred and eighty three… he might need some of that later so deciding not to chose any more, Nebel closes the window and walks into the grounds.
The same old paths lay before him. The same old trees and bushes too. “Man I’m actually here quite a bit!” Nebel says out loud while heading to his first class.
The class unlike the previous ones he had taken was set to take place out side, it was also a ground lesson instead of a solo one. Arriving at the spot with a few minutes to spare, Nebel was standing only a few dozen meters from the libraries entrance, around him the ground had been cleared of all plant life and there wasn’t even any soil, just hard packed earth and rocks.
A few guys were standing around also apparently waiting for the teacher, there was also a girl sitting on a bench that was beside this patch but she was reading so Nebel decided not to bother her.
“Hey, what’s up? Who’s the teacher?” Nebel asks them since he hadn’t met this teacher yet.
“None of us!” one of the small guys says to him…Nebel pays a bit better attention to them…
Other than him and the girl sitting on the bench, there were just about twenty people waiting in this space. Of the twenty only three of them had any muscle mass to speak of, only one of them had a weapon and nearly all of them were overly slim or desperately fat…
“Oh my god…” Nebel thinks to himself “This is so the mage stereotype…”
Even the girl was bespectacled and had a robe on… Nebel himself had a fairly good physique, messy hair and his spear rising above his shoulder… he was definitely the black sheep here…
“Morning class!” a voice shouts out quite erroneously since it was the afternoon… real time close to morning… did he somehow know this..? “I’m your professor for earth magic, call me Mole!”
Everyone looks around and finally they notice a man that had large glasses and hairy hands, rising out of the ground in between them all. The man was actually a mole man, the first peaceful demi human Nebel had met.
“Don’t worry it’s not racist… well actually it kind of is… but I’m not some sissy so go ahead.” Their professor says finishing his introduction. “Now let’s see what kind of classes you all have.”
Mole looks at them all with a strange expression before continuing “Magus, Sorcerer, Sorcerer…. Druid… Doll mage… ” he says while pointing at different students, slowly he goes through the rest and finally notices Nebel and the only girl since they were the two furthest away from him “Librarian ohh congrats that’s a pretty good one young lady!”
He turns to Nebel and points “oh another Hero! You’re my third one!” he says “I taught bo do you know her?”
“She’s my sister.” Nebel says to Mole
“Oh my! What’s the chance… 1 in 153000…” he exclaims “well that’s how many heroes there are anyway… though that’s subject to change…”
“What’s that?” Nebel says confused by Mole’s murmur
“Oh you didn’t know?” Mole says eyes widening “The classes are pretty much just a measurement of your mental ability but some people follow orders to well or have blocked their full creativity… something about fixing themselves… I forget…”
Nebel signs at the mole man’s memory and drops the subject; he had an ability to learn!!!
The mole man turns away from Nebel and addresses the class “Earth mage consists of using your mind to move the earth, speak your command and the earth shall obey!”
Most of the students look like they could see something and swipped at empty air before thanking Mole and leaving, with only five people left, Mole motions them to come closer and starts to speak once more.
“Well now that the mages and sorcerers are gone, I’m going to teach the rest of you about the true nature of earth magic.”
Coming from various parts of the cleared area the students gather in front of Mole, even the girl who had been sitting on the bench the whole time. “Earth magic is actually the art of controlling dense material, the proper term for this is earth manipulation. By freeing the arrays of particles joined together, using their mind, any true wizard is able to make the material take on a nearly liquid state.”
This book was originally published on Royal Road. Check it out there for the real experience.
He points at the ground and says “Disconnect!” the rock he was pointing at becomes just like a liquid and since the rock originally stuck out of the ground, it was now slowly spreading out. “Once in this state the wizard is free to manipulate it and then return it to a solid form however they’d like.”
Once more pointing at what was a rock he says “Spike” and then “Connect” right afterwards, the rock instantly gathers back together, turns into a small spike, before returning to its original solid form.
“Now I would like everyone to practice, other than connect, disconnect and spike, there is also flat, round, pole, wall and room. All of these are basic so I want everyone to manage them as soon as possible.”
Nebel looks at a boulder set to one side of the cleared area and imagines it liquidizing turning into a pole and forming part of a roof along with three other boulders that were on the edges of the area.
The four boulders turn into their mud or cornstarch like form and slowly gather upwards piling on top of its self, before spreading out and forming a roof above everyone’s heads.
The students look amazed at the little show but Mole just looks at it as a matter of fact.
“Yes, yes!” Mole says “Heroes don’t need vocal commands or set skills but the rest of do so get to it.”
The rest of the students go back to their work and mole walks over to Nebel. “Try this one out.” he says and takes a piece of metal out of his pocket.
Nebel imagines it forming into a helm like shape…. Nothing happens…
Mole smiles before pointing at the piece of metal and turning it into shovel blade. “The denser a material is, the hard it is to manipulate. I just thought to give you that tip.”
Nebel and Mole walk back to the rest Nebel waits patiently to see if he would teach them anything else, but he doesn’t and Nebel leaves the spot along with the other four, two of them, the girl and one of the guys had managed to already do it but the other two were practicing on pebbles since they had only managed to make a few of the spells work so far.
They silently walk along the path and Nebel leaves them to head to the library for some self study before logging off for the day. He had only a few more hours to sleep before he would have to go to university and he meant to get them.
Later that day in his university, Nebel was in the line up for food when a slim hand landed on his shoulder.
“Hey Nebel” a cute voice says. “Can I use your whip again?”
Nebel turns around to see two of Mitchell’s friends, the short one and the pigtailed one, who was the one that had just talked.
“Oh hey you’re Mitchell’s friends right?” he scratched his chin “Sorry I don’t know your names.”
“Oh I’m Stephanie and the slug enthusiast here is Andréa.” The pigtailed one says to him.
“Yo!” the short one says when her name is mentioned.
“Oh ok…” Nebel says remembering when he saw them last. He gets to the front of the line and buys his food and after they buy theirs he asks “How are you both?”
“Oh pretty goo…” Stephanie starts to say before Andrea says “HORNY!” out loud.
Nebel puts his face in his palm as he feels the looks of most of the cafeteria turn towards them, before taking Stephanie’s hand in his and leading both of them out of the cafeteria.
Once they reach a quiet area Stephanie turns on Andrea who she had been dragging. “What the hell was that!?”
Andrea shrugs “You mentioned slugs…”
Nebel and Stephanie sigh together “I’m not sure I even want to know what she means…” Nebel says
“Oh don’t mind her.” Stephanie tells him as off to one side Andrea keeps on talking but too quietly for either of them to make out what she’s saying. “We called her our innocent little legal lolli and now she goes to gret lengths to show us she isn’t… except the lolli part… she actually embraces that as you can see.”
Nebel looks over at Andrea dressed in clothes he would normally see on Bö, a white one piece dress that covered her small body and a cute bunny hair pin in her long blond hair.
Stephanie sighs “Well like I was saying… Pretty good, I hope you’re good as well.” She puts on a stern look “I meant to ask you: what do you think of Mitchell?”
Nebel frowns “well she’s a good older sister for bo and she’s pretty helpful unlike two girls standing in front of me…”
Stephanie sighs and Andrea gapes “Really! No, she’s cute, funny and nice!?” Andrea says “Dude she wants you! Jump her and slam it right into h…”
Stephanie covers her andreas mouth with both hands “Really?” Nebel asks them “I haven’t gotten that feeling.”
Stephanie gets Andrea to calm down “And you really don’t feel that way to her?” she asks him
“Nah, not really that, she’s pretty cute… it’s just I haven’t noticed her being in to me.”
Andrea breaks loose from Stephanie once more “O. M. G.” she yells “How dense can you be!”
“Well I’m kind of thinking you two are just pulling my leg but I can tell you one thing…”
Both of the girls lean forwards “What?”
“I’m kind of into you two trouble makers.” He says and pulls them off of their feet bringing them against his chest, obviously shocking both.
He lowers his head a bit a puts it between theirs and whispers “How about we have a little bit of fun, just the three of us?” holding them up by gripping onto one thigh each.
Stephanie blushes a bit and grabs onto his shirt at the word “fun” and Andrea starts to grab at his belt buckle immediately.
He steps back and outs them back down “But not right now I have class.” He says and winks at them before walking away.
“Dammmnnn” Andrea says one hand on her chest above her heart with the other pumped up in the air “He punked us good! I’m so into him now!”
Stephanie recovers from holding her thigh under her shorts where Nebel had been holding and turns to her “What about Mitchell?”
“Well what about her?” Andrea says “She can become the fourth person.”
Stephanie rolls her eyes “Come on be serious, Mitchell has dibbs, that’s her heart throb.”
“I am being serious Mitchell needs a push and we can be there to give it to her!” Andrea declares as she points towards the sky, well actually the bottom of the city’s dome. “And don’t tell me you’re not into him, you so love being man handled!”
Stephanie blushes and doesn’t reply.
“Argg am I going to have to coach two of my girlfriends while trying to sleep with the same guy!? Give me a break!” Andrea grabs her friend’s shoulder and pulls her closer “Now here’s what were going to do…”
