Nebel’s first class was the beginner one, he went past the receptionist, down the hall, pushed open the door with the vectors plate on it and walked into the anti gravity field. He had picked the same instructor he had for vectors because he already saw proof that the Instructor knew this ability very well.
Nebel kicks off the ground and uses his vectors to maneuver himself around the library, apparently the reason the old man didn’t greet him at the door like before, was because he was in the bathroom… “Hey, professor it’s Nebel, I’ll be waiting by the table.” Nebel said though the door from which ungodly sounds were coming.
Nebel floated about thirty feet away and sat down at the table to wait. After ten minutes the old man came out of the bathroom and floated over to the table. “Hey boy, why did you pick me for this class?”
“I thought that was obvious!” Nebel replies looking around them at the weightless room. “You clearing know how to make a permanent spell.”
The old man looks around at the room and then scratches his cheek. “Oh yes, that one, I float were ever I go so I forgot about it. Well let’s start the class.” The old man looks at Nebel. “I’m sure you’ve noticed that the words don’t actually do much, if you don’t imagine the effect nothing happens. Also if you have a good amount of practice using spells of a type, then you no longer need to vocalize at all to activate the spell.”
The old man floats a book over to himself without a word. “The words are only said to help focus the minds desire. Now, permanent spells are a little different from normal spells, instead of imagining an action occurring, you must imagine that the area, object etcetera already produces the action by itself. This process takes much longer than simply performing the spell yourself but if you “enchant” an object multiple times the effect grows in power but the time needed grows exponentially so it’s not recommended during battle or with little time to prepare.”
The old guy stares at the book for a moment before letting go of it, the book starts spinning very slowly on the spot, all by itself. “See how it’s only moving with the strength of one forth of a regular un concentrated spell and when you do it again.” He grabs the book once more before letting it go again. The speed of the book doubles. “It adds together with the previous enchantment. Now spells need concentration to activate and keep them activated. But permanent spells need energy sources instead, otherwise they will only last for a little bit.” The old man claps his hands and the lights go out. From the windows enough light permeates the room to just barely see the book, which is already visible slowing down. He claps his hands again. The lights turn back on but the book doesn’t speed up again. “More power just stops the degradation of the spell but doesn’t repair it. Now there are ways to keep a spell powered by light to never degrade even in the night but if you want to learn them from me you’ll have to pay for the intermediate class.”
The old man tosses the spinning book towards a bookshelf; the book reaches the shelf which appears to pull the book perfectly onto the top shelf, right between two other books. “Now onto the other class, Intermediate vectors… well intermediate level is the ability to say any direction at all to activated any vector type now you might have already learned this but I’m supposed to test you. Now this doesn’t mean pushing a certain position on an object with that vector to get it to move in that direction it means making any vector that way. The problem with testing this is fairly obvious, vectors are invisible. So do them on one of the books and I’ll just take your word on it that you didn’t cheat.”
Nebel grabs one of the books and imagines it moving away from himself. “Up!” the book twitches towards him but then moves up. He tries once more “Up!” the book comes towards him with half the normal strength but angles upwards. He concentrates on the book, it coming towards him and the fact that words have no meaning. “UP!” the book floats towards him and settles on his out stretched hand.
“Great! Done! Excellent! Now get out I’m too busy to give lengthy classes, practice on your own time.” The old guy says with a shooing motion of his hand and a snap of his fingers. “I’ve set it so that when you’ve practiced enough to call those abilities yours you will be informed, since I don’t want you sticking around waiting for grading and all that nonsense.”
Nebel feels a vector force him first backwards away from the table, up out of his chair, backwards over the banister and then straight down towards the left and out the door. Nebel gets up off the floor where the old man’s vector dropped him. “Does he always do that?” Nebel asks the air before walking back down the hall. At the entrance way the receptionist waves him over.
“Hey alien, how did the class go?” the receptionist asks him in a half laughing way.
“Pretty good, he’s a pretty good teacher, even if he’s a bit gruff.”
The girl looks at Nebel surprised “Wait… but you just had two classes with Malcolm!” she double checks a display on her desk after saying wait. “He’s currently the only teacher available for vectors; did he actually give you a class personally?”
“Ya he did, does he normally send everyone to someone else?”
“No, nothing like that, it’s just instead of personally teaching people he gives them an obnoxious book that he wrote, tells them to study it and then just tests them to see if they understood.” She says while holding her forehead. “He’s the monster from the nightmares of the whole customer services department.”
“Well the first time he did give me that book but this time I was having intermediate Vectors and beginner permanent spells.” Nebel looks at the entrance way because he heard a noise and sees a young boy walk out the front door. “Hmm, I didn’t know that people that young were allowed to play this game.”
She pats Nebel’s hand on the counter so ge turns back and sees her smiling at him while pushing back her hair, her shirt seemed to have a few more buttons undone and her skirt had been folded up several inches.
“You must be pretty special, it’s the only possibility. He has hundreds of those books, there’s one on everything from rocket science to breathing. He only personally teaches the students he deems perfect, one in a billon talents only, the rest get the books.” She opens a menu on her display, goes down the list and selects one of the options.
Stolen novel; please report.
Verification Required Do you wish to establish a private communication channel with refugee city resident Rosa?YesNo
Nebel selects yes and the window disappears. “Oh your name is Rosa? My name is Nebel, nice to meet you.”
She smiles and says “Nice to meet you too, Nebel. How about we…”
Nebel starts to turn away and says “I have to go now, Rosa. Let’s talk again next time! See ya.”
Rosa with her mouth slightly open stares at him for a moment. “Call me!” she yells out as the door closes behind him.
On his way back along the pathways nothing much of interest occurs so Nebel makes his way back out of the training center and over to a train station connected to the city. The ride was fairly uneventful also just like the walk out of the training facility he was only surrounded by players. They all seemed to have finally either waited the three whole hours in total or finally done something either in anger or curiosity, then again there is a fairly good chance that there are other ways of leaving the waiting room that Nebel was just unaware of. Nebel thought to himself it might actually be a good idea to open the forums for this one.
Normally Nebel kept away from game faqs, cheats and discussions like the plague, it wasn’t that they weren’t useful, it was just that they ruin the experience. If it’s possible for you to find it by yourself then you not only get to see or obtain whatever it is but you also get to experience the feeling of discovery.
It was essentially connected to Nebel’s beef against dark gamers. Don’t ruin it for yourself. Hell most people don’t even realize that some Easter eggs are omitted from the faqs, Nebel still remembered when he found that secret in peach’s room in Mario rpg, the one at the fireplace. Nebel had been looking for invisible chests which were one of the gimmicks of the game when he pressed “A” at the fireplace and well Nebel doesn’t want to spoil it even in his thoughts but it was pretty funny and even progressive.(during the game the joke was slightly changed depending on the situation) But when he tried to add it to the secrets page on the ancient depository for gaming knowledge ****faqs.com they never accepted it so Nebel took it as a sign.
The players who don’t play without using faqs are wrong, play the game first, fail, win, whatever, leave it to your own skill, only after one play though should anyone use a faq, unless like a vrmmo you can’t repeat events ever and you wish to know what you missed then it’s fine or if you’re playing some terrible game that never explains anything and leaves you hanging that’s ok too. Nebel felt like this time he fulfilled his own criteria so he planned to do it just before making sure Bö went to sleep.
He noticed something that he hadn’t before, except for armor, which was now made of cloth, all of the newbies and yes him included were wearing the clothes they had had on when they started playing for the first time there were even some very embarrassed looking people in their underwear …they had robes with the training centers name on but Nebel imagined that was what occurred… But how was that possible the vr gear didn’t have any body scans, yes it made you pat yourself down quite thoroughly which gave it your exact dimensions but how could it see you clothes?
Another thing that goes on the list I guess…
After arriving at the city nebel buys a hatchet, a spool of thin rope and a shield before trying to leave. Nebel felt someone holding onto his shoulder and turned to look, he went visibly white and started squirming to get away, but it was no use she already had him in her grasp and she wasn’t going to let go just yet.
“Hey Nebel trying to go somewhere? But I was just thinking about taking you and your two cousins here to get something to eat.” His ex girlfriend Maya was standing there smiling while holding his shoulder with a cute slim hand powered by martial arts training and sapping his strength with precise pressure point crushing action… behind her lying on the ground were Mitchell and Lucas both completely tied up with only their heads not covered in rope.
He had left Maya shortly after finding out about Bö’s past, she had apparently seen him stalking her and had gotten jealous of his own sister! When he asked her if she was on her way to his house she had just clammed up and refused to talk so he decide to put one of Bö’s trackers on her and guess what? When she wasn’t with him, at university or at practice, she was following him around! It was a little too much for him so he dumped her hoping she would stop… of course that didn’t work…
“I found your sweet little cousins (Mitchell 19 and Lucas 17) and kindly asked them to help me find you, of course they agreed once they put on their cute little costumes and the three of us roamed the country side to find you, won’t you please join us, honey?” she was holding onto two ropes that ran to the two cousins in her other hand.
Lucas yelled at Nebel “Oh heir to glory run for your live before this bat shit insane vixen sinks her claws into you!” “Uuum fo iiirm.” Mitchell seemed to be gagged on top of her rope suit.
Nebel used a Vector to try and push her away before dashing away….and it worked!
That is until he ran straight into Maya’s sister and fell to the ground…

Not sure if my story sucks so far or if the name is scaring people away, i would love some more input though i do see that some people do seem to like it. I'm going to try to make the chapters 2000 words long at least instead of the 1500 minimum i had set myself but i'm not sure if i'll have the time. thank you to anyone that likes my story so far, i hope i can keep getting better a story writing.
