"Doctor! We have an emergency here." An announcement echoed inside the room via the small speaker on the ceiling.
"You have dangerous low blood pressure. Don’t go anywhere. I will come here again." Doctor said and rushed out.
Roderick was relieved to see the doctor leaving the room. But he could not ignore what he had said. He needed to find a way to hide his weakness.
Roderick picked up scissor and bandage and began to dress his wound on his abdomen all by himself. He did it pretty well. He took a long breath after cutting the final bit of bandage.
Someone was peeking in from the open door. Roderick knew he was not the same doctor, but he was also wearing a lab coat.
"Doctor had sent me in here. I am his assistant." He said.
"Good." Roderick tied the bandage by a safety pin.
"I am not sick." Roderick said and went out of the room.
Assistant didn’t look convinced either by the severity of his injury.
From there on he did not want to meet anyone who was wearing a lab coat or held a stethoscope. It is why he went to the open ground to have a look at everything around him.
The place looked like a barracks with infirmary service. He did not know how skilled those doctors were. But he knew the soldiers were skillful when he saw them shooting at a target blind folded.
Fascinated by their skills, Roderick watched them through safety fence till their cartridges empties. His fascination came to an abrupt end after recalling why he was here for.
He began searching for the place where zombies were kept captive.
Everywhere he went he saw busy people minding their own business. Even after one hour of walk around the camp he struggled to see anything other than tents, fences and big infirmary houses.
Roderick needed some assistance but it was not wise to reveal his intentions. Till now he had only one friend in there, and he was Raphael.
I will trick Raphael to reveal where the prisoners are kept. He reckoned then asked for people where Raphael's cabin was. People were also kind enough to tell him about it. It could have been easy because it was a casual question. Raphael was head of the camp, after all.
He went to his quarter to ask a military man about his whereabouts.
"He is out right now. You can wait for him." Military man said.
Roderick did not leave his quarter and began wandering in the passage.
A phone near him rang. Finding nobody to receive it around him, Roderick took the matter in his own hands.
"Tell me why you are calling me." There came a voice. And there was another voice to answer him.
It was the doctor's voice.
"I think something is wrong with this new guy called Roderick." Doctor said, not knowing Roderick was hearing them.
