Head Over Kills 8

Injured King had just drunk herbs juice for the pain which was exploding from the cuts on his chest and legs. The sword had cut him deep in the war. It had not healed for days and pain was not looking to reduce.

He had seen smoke rise from a hill very far from his palace. King had not failed to notice that it had started to rain as soon as the fire was put out.

King wondered what kind of prayer those people were doing in the village to make it rain. He could not doubt its effectiveness by looking at the consequence.

"Draught is now over." He smiled as he saw the evening sky taken over than clouds darker than night sky.

He called Lord Commander to his room. Lord Commander came within a minute. Water was all over his armor. He was also in the rain.

"Were you enjoying the rain?" King asked.

"No, your majesty. I was beheading servants who were looking to steal from jewels. I have put their heads in sacks."

"Add it to my collection of heads. And make sure that the first thing servants see after coming here to work will be the gallery of heads." King said.

"Aye, your highness."

"Lord Commander," King said, "As soon as the fire in that village went off, it rained. I doubt which prayer they are doing. Go and find it out."

"Aye, my Lord." Lord Commander bowed and rode towards the village on the hill with some of his army.

Roderick had no sense of time because of the clouds he had brought. He knew he had messed up timing when people lit torches in their houses.

All executioners in the village had lined up to look at the body. Nobody knew whose body it was, and none of them knew where his head could be.

"Most of the time, we throw heads in the crater." Everyone had the same answer.

Roderick's heart was sinking in disappointment.

From a distance, they heard armors clatter and horse neighing. Those soldiers came with fire torches in the village and stopped in front of Roderick and villagers.

"What prayer did you do, villagers? Tell me and I will make King reward you with land and jewels. King is happy." Lord Commander said through his helmet. There were some small sacks tied to saddle.

"He made it rain on his will." One villager pointed towards Roderick.

"Did you?" Lord Commander asked.

"Yes, I did." Roderick answered.

"Who are you?"

"I am super-strong, intelligent, water controller…."

"Wizard?" Lord Commander asked.

"Wizard? Yes, a wizard."

"Well –"

"Sorry to interrupt you." Roderick said and pulled Headless at him, "Do you know who decapitated him or where his head is?"

Horses got scared and neighed in panic. Soldiers gasped and clutched their swords. "It's him!" they panicked.

Archers coiled their bows at Headless' direction.

"I did this. I hacked his head off." Lord Commander said, "Loose!"

"NO!" people screamed and came forward to take the arrow on their chests. They could not afford to lose only way they could see rain again.

"We don’t want to harm innocents!" Lord Commander roared, "Step out of the way or we will have to."

"If you kill him, it won't rain again for years." People screamed and threw stones at him.

"Loose!" Lord Commander yelled.
