The forest was pitch black at night. Only thing guiding him was dim moonlight above him but it also disappeared when he reached in a region of forest where trees were dense. He walked for a long time, unaware of how much time had passed.

He took a breath of delight when he saw a devil trying to light a fire outside his den. The devil stroked the stones but couldn’t turn sparkles into fire.

“Maybe I can help you.” Roderick said to the devil.

The devil rose and dropped the stones.

"It's okay. I can read sign language." Roderick gave it a second thought, "Sort of."

“HUMAN.” Devil stood up, “THEY TASTE GOOD WHEN EATEN RAW.”

“I know you killed the judge.” Roderick said, “I have written a letter saying I had seen you going to his room. Adding to it, everyone knows you hold a grudge against him. If I don’t make it to the court within half an hour, then the receptionist will open the letter and you will be finished.”

Devil’s expressions changed. He joined his hands and signed, “PLEASE DON’T REVEAL IT.”

“I need something in return.”

“WHAT, HUMAN?”

“Court validates witness the most. Come to court with me and say you doubt Isolda killed the judge. I will say I had seen Isolda near his cabin before he was murdered.”

“DO YOU THINK OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM IS THIS FOOLISH?”

“Your system is worse than I had imagined. Everything is rushed in there. Why do cases even need to be resolved in a single day?”

“ASK THEM. NOT ME.”

“Should I tell them too?”

“TELL WHAT?”

“That you killed the jud-”

“FINE. I AM GOING WITH YOU.” Devil moved his fingers.
