5. White Knight

"He is strong." Morgana said to me and then she looked at the man that was fighting with the thugs.

Yeah, he was strong. Really strong.

He was fighting with 5 men but it looked more like he was dancing than fighting. He hardly ever used his sword and a lot of his fighting was done with his hands. That's why there wasn't really any blood.

When 3 of thugs were beaten unconscious the other 2 ran away.

"Cowards!" he shouted and hid his sword.

The he started to approach us. When he was walking I could take a better look at him. His white armour was hardly even scratched after this fight and he didn't looked tired at all.

When he was near us he brushed his dark hair with one of his hands and then he knelt. It was really weird. Why would he do that?

When I looked into his eyes I could see some kind of excitement in them, like he was expecting something from me.

"G-Good work?" I said and he smilled awkwardly, then he stood up.

"It's n-nothing. Are you alright?" he said and then started to stare at me. I don't know what he was thinking about but after some time it was starting to feel really awkward.

"Do you need something?" Morgana asked him. When he heard her he just blushed and quickly went away.

After that we made sure that no one else was watching us. When we made sure that this was the case Morgana breathed a sigh of relief and I leaned against the wall of the inn.

"Do you think he suspects something? You know, about this spell." I asked.

"Who? This knight?"

"Yeah."

"You really are stupid."

If you stumble upon this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.

"Wait! What!?" I said but she just walked into the inn and after some time I followed her.

We slowly went to our room because we were really tired. When we got there I just layed down on the bed and wanted to sleep.

"We just came back. You were sleeping like 5 hours ago." Morgana said but I didn't listened to her. I was too tired to think about it. Finding out that Aaron is nowhere to be found and then meeting those thugs made me really sleepy. After some time I felled asleep.

When I was sleeping I had a weird dream. In it I was still my old 70 years old self. I was living in a tower and doing my research. It was a weird dream but it reminded me of my old days.

I remembered how sometimes I felt envious of other mages. They lived an adventure. Most of the time they spent outdoors, fighting with their comrades. I've never done that. All I had was my reserach. I lived for it.

What would I do if the spell wouldn't worked? Would I still live in this tower trying to make it work? How long would it be anyway? I wasn't young.

When I was thinking about it I was woken up.

"Something is happening downstairs." Morgana said while shaking me.

"Hmm... W-What?" I said half asleep.

"Don't "Hmm" me. Come!" she said and pulled me with her.

When we went downstairs we saw what was happenening. Three guards were leading one man out of the building. He looked like a normal citizen but it was propably this man that told those thugs that we were living there.

You hear a lot about guys like this. One of them looks for a victim and when he finds someone who looks rich or like he has something valuable with him he will tell others about it.

"Look, someone we know." Morgana said and pointed at a guy that was standing with the guards.

He was wearing white armour and when he saw that I was looking at him he smilled and nodded at me.

After they all left we went to one table and ordered something to eat.

"So what do you wanna do now?" Morgana asked me as we were waiting.

I took me some time to respond. We could wait here in Jerven for Aaron to come back. I don't really liked him but I think he could help me. He was well known for his magic and knowledge. We could also look for someone else. Jerven wasn't that big of a city. If we went somwhere else we could find bigger guild. One with many mages.

As I was thinking the food that we ordered was brought to us. Some kind of soup and a loaf of bread. Morgana didn't wait any longer and started eating.

"I want to go to other cities. I want to look for someone who can help me." I said and she just looked at me from the plate.

"It means you want to go on an adventure?"

I thinked about it. Was it really this? Was it what I wanted?

I don't think adventures are bad. It's just I've never was on one.

"So? What is it?" Morgana asked impatiently.

"Yeah, I want to go on an adventure."

"Hmm, really?" she just said and continued eating.
