"Isn't it ironic?" I was asked by Rosie.
We were now in some tavern and I was reading her book. 101 unsolved problems in magic and more precisely one very interesting chapter of it.
"Don't speak for a moment." I just said and her eyes lit up.
Well you have pretty eyes I must say. Those colors are really rare. One of them orange and the other one green, but it was you who wanted to read this book. Don't make problems now.
"Ehh, just give it back after you read it. Where is our food anyway?" she said and looked at the owner of this tavern.
He was an old man, now cleaning some tables. This place was small and there were no other people beside us. It made talking easier but I don't know why do we need to wait so much for our food.
"Don't worry miss. It will be ready in a moment." he said and continued cleaning.
After watching this scene I looked again at book in my hands. There, printed with big letters was a problem that really picked my interest.
How to make a spell of eternal youth. I don't care about magic but there was something about this problem. that made me really curious.
"In the history of mankind there were many instances of people wanting to become immortal or young again. A lot of those people will practice dark magic. In their chase for immortality they might even become liches, an undead beings that don't have much in common with living." I read the beginning of this chapter.
"Ohh, interesting." Rosie only replied and looked at me.
"Despite the efforts of many great minds, no one has ever found a way to retain an eternal youth, however many experiments were carried out with different effects. One of the most promising attempts was carried out by team of known magicians, that tried casting a spell of great power on a guinea pig. This attempt was successful, but only for a short time, and after that, the animal aged really quickly. It was concluded that spell that could make someone young again and keep him that way would need a lot of huge amounts of energy, which can't be done with the known means."

Hmm, this is really interesting. I should read this whole chapter some time. There are many dates of experiments that were done before. Really interesting stuff.
"Aren't you curious?" I asked her, but then I saw how she was stuffing her face with food that arrived while I was reading.
"You could tell me that our food was ready." I said.
"Well, you looked really serious reading this book. Didn't wanted to disturb you." she replied as she was eating some kind of sausage.
You shouldn't talk with your mouth full. Especially if you are a sixteen years old girl.
After thinking about that I didn't wasted much time and started eating. There was a lot of expensive food, but I didn't mind. It was some kind of reward for us, for passing our test and becoming mages.
I stuffed my face with different kinds of meats and soups. They were all really tasty but also really heavy. After eating another sausage I could promise that I was going to have a really bad time.
"I don't think I can eat anymore." I said and she looked at me surprised.
Oh, don't worry. You can eat as much as you want.
"Glutton." I said quietly, making sure that she doesn't hear me.
After that I just looked at her for some time. She looked really happy, but it was just how she was. I can't eat so much. It makes me feel heavy.
As I was thinking about that I saw few men walking inside this tavern. They all were wearing mage's robes and when they saw us they aprroached us.
There were three of them, and one of them looked at me angrily.
"Barely passed the exam, and now you are partying? You should be studying!" he said proudly.
He was a young, short, black haired boy with small brown eyes. Known for being from poweful and rich family of mages. Aaron, my sworn enemy.
"Why are bullying William?! You meanie!" Rosie said as she stopped eating.
I really appreciate the gesture, but don't make things even worse. They will just say few mean words and go away. As always.
"I d-didn't mean to... I mean; why are you even sitting with him?! He is an idiot! Someone like you should be..." he tried to say something but was interrupted by Rosie's glare. She looked like she was going to do something really bad, and he knew that he needed to stop right now.
"J-Just don't think that you won! Celebrate in this small and dirty tavern all you want! H-Hahahah!" he laughed awkwardly, and when he saw that the owner of this "small and dirty tavern" was looking at him he ran to the door.
"Don't worry about him. He is an idiot!" Rosie said and looked at me.
There was no reason to tell me this. I knew that he was an idiot. It was just that everything he told about me was true. I barely passed the exam. I can't say that I'm smart or anything. I don't find magic interesting at all.
Well, I didn't. Now I found this spell.
"I know, I know..." I said as I looked at the book.
Wouldn't it be fun, if I was the one that made this spell work? If someone who barely passed the exam would make a spell of eternal youth?
As I thought about that I felt pain in my stomach.
