"You really think that was a good idea?" I was asked by Rosie. She was standing near a pile of books. They were everywhere, on shelfs, desk, floor, bed. Its my room, but now it looked more like library.
"It's not my fault I'm good at poker." I said and turned the page of a book in my hands. It was a book about research and experiments done on eternal youth spell.
All those books were bought by me. All of them bought for money that I won in poker.
"We are mages, not gamblers!" Rosie said and looked at me worried with her beautiful eyes.
"It's my talent. It would be bad not to use it." I replied jokingly.
Well, it's not like I have done something wrong. I just needed some money, and they gave it to me.
"Don't joke about it! If someone from the guild will get to know, that you are only gambling in your free time, they might throw you out!"
"Only gambling? Look around. I'm learning."
"Yeah, you are learning. Learning things that were proved to be impossible." she said and took the book from my hands. She seemed to care really much, and I don't understand why.
I mean we were friends, good friends, but I thought that she would follow her dreams once she become a mage. But she just spends most of her time with me, doing stupid things.
Why would she do that?
"You don't have any friends?" I asked and she looked at me angrily.
If you encounter this story on Amazon, note that it's taken without permission from the author. Report it.
"Do what you want idiot!" she shouted and threw the book in my head. After that she went out, and I grabbed my forehead because of a pain that was left there after the book hit me.
I really don't understand her.
Next few days were really similiar to one another. I would just stay in my room and read those books, ignoring everything else. Rosie didn't came after that, so I could spend all my time reading without thinking about anything else.
Of course I knew that it will not last forever. Mages are supposed to spend their free time doing research, but it should be something important. Trying to make a spell of eternal youth was considered stupid and impossible.
That's why, after few days I was summoned by a master mage. It's the most important person in the guild, and if he wants to speak to me, it could only mean that he was dissatisfied with me.
He was an old man, maybe in his sixties, wearing white, long robes. He had short beard and smart, green eyes. His hair was white because of his age and he wanted only one thing from me.
"Stop doing stupid things." he said after looking at me.
I had two options. Listen to him, become a true mage and live a good life or be kicked out, and try to do something impossible.
It was an easy question.
"I won't." I replied and he sighed.
The rest is history. Boring history. I was thrown out from the guild and had to live on the streets. I thought about visiting Rosie, but I didn't wanted to worry her, and it would be just sad to show her what I was doing. I left the capital city because I didn't wanted to stay there and I went to Jerven. After some self-learning I was able to summon few demons to build me a tower in the middle of nowhere. I picked this place because I needed peace, and because I was ashamed of what I was doing. It was stupid, and I knew it.
Even after trying to go to distant place, I was ridiculed by people. I found out that Aaron was send to Jerven to open new guild, and he started some rumors about me. Well, they were true so I couldn't do anything about them.
Somewhere at that time a young witch started living in the nearby forest. I met her few times and she was really kind, unlike other people.
Then, just like that, my spell worked. Well, almost.
This all took almost fifty years of my life.
