I was eating breakfast after I had finished discussing with the party what we were going to do. We had decided that we were going to meet back at the inn at 3:00 pm and then head to the dungeon to delve in and maybe clear the first few floors. Before then was simply free time so I ate some food. I was inwardly cursing Lisa for biting my neck and turning me into a vampire. Who want's to change into a monster even if it comes with cool bonuses! I don't know if theres some unknown side effect that this world has for vampires that the game didn't. The world had already proven to not be a 100% accurate recreation of the game so I was concerned about that and several other things.
I had decided to simply walk around and look at things in the city to see what there was,. I didn't have much spending money but I was going to earn more later today so it wouldn't hurt to check out what I wanted to buy with my money I guess. I walked past several stores that sold food and general goods that I didn't bother to look at, we were good on those. I kept walking and saw some armour shops and several blacksmiths with weapons on display, ooh theres even an enchanters shop!
~~~
I kept browsing the wares of the shops and bought an item from an enchanters shop. It was a clarity ring. Its purpose was to help people think straight even when in stressful situations, such as in the middle of a fight or when you are in extreme pain from an injury. I figured it would be useful so I bought it for 1 silver and continued on my way, browsing more goods.
I was still looking at shops when I got a notification. I opened up the notification and read it. What it said surprised me quite a bit.
Curse Absorption Passive failure! Curse absorption passive has only partially absorbed the Origin vampire bite! The curse was too powerful and thus overpowered the passive. Estimated time until passive completely absorbs curse: 7 months 14 days
I sat there scratching my head wondering what passive when I remembered. "Oh shit I forgot! Both of my classes have a passive ability! There was just so much crap going on that I completely forgot about them and didn't check them to see if they changed."
I saw another notification and opened it up as well, reading through it.
Total boosts from partially absorbing curse: Health has increased to 7,000; Mana increased to 12,000; Health regeneration increased to 200 per minute
My eyes were wide open at the boosts. "My curse absorption didn't increase my stats before, the hell? So my passive's changed. I wonder what my other class passive changed to. I flipped through my menu and quickly found my second passive. I expanded the menu to get more information and read the notification.
Mana Being: A being that is heavily tied to mana and extremely knowledgable with its use. Mana works with them not for them. Upon reaching 0 health, any damage dealt is drained from mana until the mana runs out. Once both health and mana run out the being will perish.
WARNING! Upon reaching 0 health, all stats will be cut in half until the being regenerates 25% of their maximum health.
Ok, so my passive had changed just a little bit. Ok it changed completely. "My Grand Archmage passive changed into something far better than before. That stat reduction does blow but hey, its a fair price to pay for not dying." I kept looking at the passive and went over its changes. The passive had previously been a very simple one where my spells did 60% more damage than regular mages and I regenerated mana 2x as fast. I lost the damage and regeneration but gained a far better passive in my opinion. I went through the rest of my menu to check for any changes and saw that there was nothing new apart from the passives and the new title I recently gained.
I was really glad with the changes that I got with my passive. I now wondered what would happen when I completely absorbed my vampire curse. "Would I turn back into a human? Or would I stay as a vampire but with really boosted stats? Both of my passives became so much better than the game versions, thats an unexpected buff I didn't know I had."
I was wondering what other abilities changed in this world. Maybe certain treasures had different affects. I kept brainstorming various things until I arrived in front of this cities adventurer's guild. I had finished wandering the town and was curious as to what we would find in the dungeon.
The building was very much similar to the other one in the other town, with the golems on duty guarding it and the same hustle and bustle of people rushing through. I went in and checked for any quests on the quest board. I decided that since I was here I would check quickly before leaving.
I saw that most of the quests were not quests I could do or quests that were hella boring. Who would want to look for a missing cat? I looked around for a bit and stumbled on a quest that had a decently high payout but no one took it, even though it was a quest literally anyone could take.
The quest was labeled as a hunting quest for a named monster. The monster had appeared in the dungeon and was causing a lot of trouble. The monster was suspected of several murders of people but wasn' that powerful, apparently, which confused me. I was about to take the quest when someone said "Oi, put that quest back. That quest isn't worth the money. Anyone who took the quest had their lives taken. You'd be better off taking a different hunting quest if you really want to kill monsters. My friend took the quest and lost all of his gear to that damn named monster."
I looked at the man and then back at the quest. I was very curious as to what this monster was and wanted to take it but needed to ask the rest of the part so I put it back and left to head off and ask the others. I was really curious about that named monster but didn't want to tackle it on my own. "Well, whatever. Let's see what Ronia and the others think about that quest."
