The 4 of us had made it out of that field and were now in some forest on our way to a village. The 4 of them had properly introduced themselves while we walked. "I am Ronia, an elf. I mainly use a bow but I'm a mage as well, although I'm not the greatest of mages" Ronia scratched the back of her head while saying the last sentence, looking slightly embarrassed. Elves are usually amazing at magic so she was probably embarrassed at not being a good mage, considering her race.
Herald introduced himself and the spearguy after Ronia finished, "My name is Herald and this is Raymond. I primarily use a shield and sword, and am the parties tank, while Ray uses his spear to deal damage". It was a rather short introduction but I didn't care and introduced myself with "Yo I'm Zane Northwood, your residential Grand Archmage. Let's get along and not attempt to murder each other when someone pulls out a snack" I said the last line while sending an accusing stare at Herald, who scratched his head and looked embarrassed.
A small wooden wall appeared in our line of sight while we were fooling around. "Seems like we arrived at Horan Village far sooner than I thought we would. Time sure does fly while your distracted huh" was what I said mostly to myself, but the other 3 agreed with me nonetheless.
When we got to the entrance to the village the guard on duty waved at the 3 next to me and greeted them saying " Hey, if it isn't Ronia! How was the monster hunting, any good loot? Also who's the extra, a new party member of yours?" He pointed at me with a curious look.
"This is Zane, we met him while hunting monsters and helped him get here since he got lost" said Ronia as she walked past the guard. "Sorry we can't stay to chat, we got business to attend to." With that, she left the guard with the 3 of us in tow. We finally made it to what looked like your run of the mill inn. We walked in and sat down at a table, and the 3 ordered a meal and some water. I on the other hand had no money so I just pulled out my own food and drink and started chowing down. The others stared at me in surprise, so with a mouthful of jerky I asked, "what?" Ray regained his composure first and answered my question. "Spacial magic is rather rare you know. It's a hard magic to master, so to see you casually use it just caught us off guard, ya know?"
I just continued to stuff my face with food while shrugging and replying with a distracted 'oh really?' They got over their shock when their food arrived, and started to eat as well. Their food looked much better than mine, with cooked chicken and hard bread with soup but I didn't let my jealousy show, or rather tried really hard for it to not show. I wasn't really sure how successful I was at hiding my emotions but stopped caring soon afterwards when Ronia started talking. "So how do you know about the Twitty forest massacre, and why was a grand archmage in a dungeon put in the wilderness? Also, why are your levels reset? That shouldn't even be possible to happen."
I swallowed the rest of my bread and cleared my throat before answering the question I knew would come eventually. "To be honest I got into a situation I would rather not discuss, or rather I can't and won't talk about. That bastard stole all my legendary equipment, weapons, items and even my freaking levels. When I get my hands on that two-faced conman I'm going to annihilate him!" I noticed I was practically yelling by the end and was standing, so I sat back down with an embarrassed look on my face.
The party of 3 that heard my outburst were quiet while the other people eating in the inn went back to conversing like nothing happened. Ronia was the first to stop eating in silence as she said "Just who would be powerful enough to be able to fight with a grand archmage and win. Just the thought of someone that powerful being out there makes me shocked." The others nodded while eating their meals.

It seemed that these 3 had thought I fought with someone powerful and lost the fight, and ended up in my current predicament due to the results of the battle. It was a shoddy reasoning at best, and was filled with holes. Why didn't they finish me off, instead of chucking me somewhere to die, because that just sounded dumb. Or why am I so young looking for a grand archmage. Things like that were a few of the reasons that I thought their reasoning was bad but I didn't point that out and rolled with it. Why bother creating more trouble for myself?
It was as we were eating in silence that 3 people burst into the inn, 1 of them looking like he was going to die at any moment. One of the less injured started babbling to the people that got up and asked what was wrong. He then proceeded to yell "BANDITS ARE COMING! BANDITS! I need a doctor for my friend, he's dying!" This bit of news made everyone stop eating and stare at the 3 in the doorway. Someone then asked what happened to them, and where the said bandits are. The same guy who yelled responded to the question while he was still catching his breath. "They are still in the forest about 5 minutes away probably. The three of us went hunting for some boar and managed to walk across the procession of bandits heading for the village. They attacked us after seeing us, but we managed to escape. More importantly, my friend needs help! He got stabbed by a sword and doesn't look so good!"
The man looked like he was going to cry as he held his friend while pouring a lesser healing potion on the wound. I remembered at that moment that I had some daily necessities in my starter pack, and mid-grade healing potions were one of the said necessities. I got up and pulled out the potion and handed the man the potion saying, "Quick, make your friend drink this. It's a mid-grade healing potion, it should do the trick." He had a momentary look of shock before quickly grabbing the potion and practically shoving the potion into his injured friend's mouth.
The man was visibly recovering and no longer looked like he would die at any moment, but still looked very weak. It dawned on me while I was watching the tear filled man that this wasn't some game, but was real life. I wasn't in Liberty of Immortals anymore, where I could respawn upon death. I was now in a real world that was similar to the game I knew and loved. The severity of my reincarnation and what it all meant was now swirling in my mind, making me more confused the more I thought about it. Why was I exactly here, and how did I get here. Obviously some game NPC didn't have the abilities to affect the real world any more than the programmers allowed, so what was it that reincarnated me. Did this mean that some entity powerful enough to literally reincarnate people existed?
As these thoughts went through my head and I was on the verge of falling into an abyss of confusion and questions, I felt a hand on my shoulders. I turned around and saw that it was Ronia who was looking at me with a worried expression. "You ok? You look so confused and worried." She then smiled as she got an idea, "How about we go help fortify the village and prepare better defences for the bandit raid. I promise that all of us will protect the people as best as we can."
I was stunned for a second before realizing what she said and smiled slightly. It seemed that she mistook my worry over the situation I was in regarding reincarnation as me worrying over the lives of the villagers, so she offered a solution to help me out. It may have been the wrong reason, but she certainly helped me clear my head a bit and get back on track somewhat.
I shook my head and decided to put off the thoughts of my reincarnation and the problems that came with it for later, and focus on the immediate danger in front of me. Since this wasn't a game, it meant these were real people with only one life, so I decided to help try and save these lives. I couldn't leave people to die horrible deaths at the hands of bandits and escape, partly because of my morals and partly because of the fact that I didn't have the power to escape without a high risk of death. Even if I did have the choice I probably wouldn't abandon them unless I had my reasons. I wasn't a saint that would go around saving literally everyone I saw, but I would try to prevent things like the slaughter of a village if it was reasonably possible.
I smiled and put away everything into my inventory before standing and saying "Let's go kick some bandit ass."
