Chapter 42

Though they had only been married for two years, Hendrix had known Noelle for several years before that.

In his memory, Noelle was always calm and steady. The only time he had ever seen her cry was when she had a miscarriage.

When he arrived, the surgery had been performed. It was late, and both families had already gone home. The nurse had fallen asleep by her side, while Noelle quietly sat on the bed.

She didn't break down in tears-not even a quiet sob. She simply turned her head to look out the window, letting the tears fall one by one.

And what had Hendrix done at that moment?

He had already forgotten.

Even the life that had lasted less than three months-his mind barely held any memories or emotions about it.

However, the image of Noelle crying suddenly flooded back into his mind now, clear as day. That was one of the few times he had seen her so emotionally overwhelmed, apart from... those other special moments.

But just now, she had cried in front of Maxwell. She was even trembling

"Mr. Freeman?"

The voice from across the court snapped Hendrix back to reality.

He stopped thinking about it. He hummed in acknowledgment and served the ball again.

An hour later, Hendrix changed out of his clothes and left the VIP room.

When he returned to the first-floor court, Noelle and the others were gone. But on a chair nearby, a green hair tie was left behind.

Hendrix recognized it immediately-it was Noelle's.

However, he didn't approach it. He simply glanced at it before turning and walking away.

Levi had received the message in advance. When he saw Hendrix come out, he immediately opened the car door

for him.

"Back to the company, Mr. Freeman?"

"Yes."

Hendrix got into the car and immediately opened his tablet. On it were emails waiting for his attention. But as soon as Levi pulled out of the parking lot, Hendrix suddenly said, "Turn around."

"What?"

Levi was taken aback. He even wondered for a moment if he had misheard.

"Turn around," Hendrix repeated.

Levi quickly flicked on the signal to turn. As he drove the car back toward the gym, Levi asked, "Did you forget something? I can go inside and grab it for you?"

"No need."

As he spoke, Hendrix was already getting out of the car.

But when he returned, he found that the hair tie was gone. The seat was now occupied by a young

couple. The young woman was holding her phone and smiling brightly as she took pictures.

Noticing Hendrix's gaze, the girl looked up at him. When she saw his face, her eyes lit up.

However, Hendrix didn't stop for a moment. He simply turned and walked away.

Levi was still waiting outside.

When he noticed Hendrix's hands were empty, he paused for a second, then suggested, "Mr. Freeman, did you lose something? Should I contact the gym and have them help..."

"No need."

Hendrix got into the car with a blank expression. "Just some trash."

Trash?

If it was just trash, then why did he go out of his way to retrieve it?

Levi found it odd but didn't dare ask further. He silently closed the door for Hendrix.noveldrama

Meanwhile, Noelle had returned, washed up, and collapsed onto her bed. She had worked up a sweat, so she fell into a deep sleep.

When she woke up, it was already dark outside.

Her phone, which had been on silent, had several new messages.

Two of them were from Maxwell.
