Chapter 233

Then, Noelle looked at Hendrix.

"What do you want to say?" Hendrix asked.

This question caused Noelle's lips to press even tighter together. She set down her cutlery and wiped the corners of her mouth. "With this evidence, I can call the police," she said.

"Oh? Call the police to arrest me?" Hendrix smiled faintly.

Looking at his smile, Noelle's brows furrowed even more. What are you laughing at?"

"Oh? Should I not be laughing?"noveldrama

As if granting her wish, Hendrix quickly dropped his smile and asked again, "Since you plan to call the police, shouldn't you be at the station now? Why are you sitting here having a meal with me instead?" Noelle fell silent.

"Are you trying to use this to threaten me?" Hendrix continued, sliding on a pair of gloves as he began peeling shrimp with meticulous care.

His actions were elegant, and his expression was composed as though the two of them were merely on an ordinary dinner date.

Then, he asked casually, "So, is this about getting me to hand over the Continental Reach project rights to your company? Who came up with this idea? Your boyfriend?

"And why didn't he come with you today? Is he not worried that I, the prime suspect, might do something to you again? Or do you both think meeting in a restaurant lobby makes you safe?"

He fired off one question after another.

That seemingly calm tone carried a distinct undercurrent of pressure, and the sharp look in Hendrix's eyes reminded Noelle of the man she had seen at the negotiating table. It was the version of him that was utterly unshakable.

His air of confidence, bordering on arrogance, made her hands clench involuntarily. Her lips parted slightly, but she couldn't say anything.

Hendrix held her gaze for a moment longer before he let out a soft sigh.

The hint of helplessness in that sigh only deepened the furrow in Noelle's brows.

Then, almost as if deciding against something, Hendrix removed his gloves. He wanted to say more, but seeing her like this, he swallowed the words.

He thought, "Forget it. It's better not to scare her anymore

She had gone through a lot from last night until now, after all.

Hendrix placed the bowl of peeled shrimp in front of her and said, "I agree to your conditions."

"W-What?"

"Aren't you trying to threaten me? If I don't agree, you will report it to the police, right?" Hendrix asked. "I don't want you to do that, so I'm agreeing to work with you.

This was what Noelle wanted. But for some reason, she felt helpless. Chapter 233

She looked at the man in front of her. She felt like he knew what she wanted, and whatever he said now was just to go with her.

Noelle looked at the shrimp and gritted her teeth.

"How's your wound?" Hendrix suddenly asked.

Noelle looked up at him.

"Is it still painful?" he asked.

"Hendrix, do you think it's appropriate for you to ask me this, considering our current relationship?" He slowly looked down.

Noelle wanted to say something, but she suddenly found it pointless. "Since you've agreed to it, then I shall take my leave."

She then turned to leave.

Hendrix didn't stop her. Instead, he just looked at the untouched bowl of shrimp. Then, he saw the man waiting for her at the entrance of the restaurant.

Hendrix narrowed his eyes. He had seen this man before was Noelle's new boyfriend.
