After finishing the call, Hendrix hung up.

He tapped his fingers on the desk a few times before dialing another number.noveldrama

"It's me, Hendrix. That so-called brother of yours... Is he making a comeback again?"

For the past few days, Noelle had barely left the bed. Her days consisted of nothing but sleeping and eating, to the point where she had lost all sense of time. She had no idea how long she had been in this

room.

Lately, Hendrix had been leaving early and coming home late. Some days, she wouldn't see him at all. Or maybe... he simply knew she didn't want to see him, so he had stopped showing up in front of her altogether.

Noelle had assumed he had completely forgotten about her prenatal checkup. But one morning, when she woke up, she found Hendrix undoing her tie.

"You're up? Perfect timing. I have time today. I'll take you for your checkup," he said with a bright smile. Noelle felt dazed.

Hendrix didn't say anything else. He simply finished untying the knot and carried her downstairs.

She finally snapped out of it and instinctively resisted his touch. But then, as if something crossed her mind, she forced herself to lower her hands.

Hendrix noticed her reaction. But since she didn't actually do anything, he pretended not to see it.

He had already decided-even a weak, clumsy act wouldn't matter. As long as she was willing to play along-even if she was lying to him-he would accept it without question.

Hendrix had arranged for Noelle's checkup at a private hospital owned by Amity Group.

The doctors were handpicked by him, so as soon as they arrived, Noelle was sent straight to the ultrasound room.

Hendrix stood by her side.

"The baby is developing well," the doctor said, looking at the screen. "See here? This is your baby. Can you see it?"

Noelle turned her head and saw what looked like a tiny sprout. If she didn't look carefully, she wouldn't have even

noticed it.

But she knew the little one would soon grow bigger. Inside her, it would thrive.

She averted her gaze and slowly closed her eyes.

Hendrix seemed satisfied. Once the examination was done, he reached out to carry her again.

This time, Noelle pushed him away. "I can walk on my own!"

Hendrix didn't insist. As he stepped back, a knock sounded on the door.

"Mr. Freeman, are you there? Dr. Lambert is waiting for you in the office."

Hendrix raised an eyebrow but quickly seemed to realize something. He turned to Noelle and said, "Wait here for me. I'll be back soon.".

"Okay."

As soon as she answered, Hendrix walked out.

But even with him gone, there was no escaping. His bodyguards and driver were still outside.

Noelle had no intention of running. After thinking for a moment, she turned to the ultrasound doctor. "Who is Dr. Lambert?"

"Oh, he's one of the department heads here. But that's strange... What would he need to see Mr. Freeman for?"

"What department is he in?"

"Psychiatry."

Noelle froze.

Then, she suddenly understood-Hendrix was a lunatic! It made perfect sense for him to see a psychiatrist.

What surprised her, though, was that he actually had the self-awareness to seek help.

But what she never expected was that the psychiatric evaluation report Hendrix had arranged... wasn't for himself. It was for someone else.
