Felix's guess had been correct. Where did the pill recorded in the medical book that Gerald gave him come from? It was the most basic antidote pill. Yet, it was enough to counteract the Blightbane Poison that had everyone at their wit's end. It was unbelievable.
"Can you come over, Mr. Hoffman? We can hold out for 24 hours," Felix asked just in case. It would make things easier if Gerald could come.
"You damn brat! Are you sure you're my student? First of all, I can't make it back in 24 hours. Secondly, even if I could, why should I? Whether those people live or die has nothing to do with me. Goodbye!"
Felix smiled bitterly. He had forgotten how Gerald had long since been disillusioned by humanity's greed. To him, saving lives and healing the wounded was nothing but drivel.
As soon as he stepped outside, he noticed that all eyes were on him. It was plain to see that he remained everyone's greatest hope.
"It should work, but I can't guarantee it. I'll just have to do my best."
The crowd's expressions varied. Regardless of their sentiments, Felix's words still offered them a sliver of hope.noveldrama
A few minutes later, Yasmin arrived with several helicopters. Given the lives at stake and the number of people involved, it was only natural that the headquarters provided assistance.
"Are these medicinal herbs enough, Dr. Zeller?"
Felix nodded. "They're enough."
The quantity was sufficient enough to produce a hundred pills, but would things be that easy? They were racing against time. Once Felix went to refine the pills, only Lemuel would be left to suppress the poison. Even if Silas and the others assisted them, they'd only be able to hold on for 14 hours.
"Don't allow anyone to disturb me!" Felix said before shutting himself into a room.
Hector and Cairo stationed themselves on either side of the door, personally guarding the last line of defense to ensure no problems arose.
"You have to succeed, Felix," Xena prayed silently. Her mind was consumed with worry for Felix's safety. She realized that she had never forgotten him but had always avoided confronting her feelings.
That was when she saw Nala enter.
"How dare you? Didn't I say no one is allowed to enter?" Xena scolded Nala.
How could an outsider casually stroll in during such dire circumstances?
Alistair, who led Nala in, hurriedly explained, "Milady, she's personally authorized by Lord Lionel to enter." Nala's eyes, visible above her veil, were filled with a sense of urgency.
"Where's Felix?"
Right now she was in no mood to argue with Xena. She hurried over the moment she received the news. Who would've thought that
attending a banquet would turn into a fight for survival?
"He's working on the antidote inside. No one is allowed to disturb him. That includes you."
If Felix was working on the antidote, did that mean they were all pinning their hopes on him? That sounded like a joke. Felix himself was poisoned, wasn't he?
With two Warlords standing guard at the door, Nala wasn't going to impulsively approach them to give them a piece of her mind. Instead, she approached Ronan and Jack.
"Nala."
"What are you doing here?"
They both exclaimed in surprise. Nala didn't say a word and merely nodded slightly. It was as if she was reassuring them that there was nothing to worry about now that she was here. en
That was indeed the case. She had brought three pills with her.
Although she didn't know the exact poison they were dealing with, she was confident they could counteract its effects.
