"Ms. Lemira, get a doctor, quick! The boss must've passed out from something serious."
Lemira coughed, "No need for a doctor."
"Ms. Lemira, this is no time for jokes."
"I'm not joking. I knocked him out myself."noveldrama
Lemira looked a bit uneasy, "He took my phone and wouldn't let me leave."
Hogan finally breathed a sigh of relief, "The boss didn't want to keep you here against your will, he just wanted you to stay a bit longer."
"But they never cared about what I wanted. Did they ever ask if I wanted to stay with them?"
Hogan gave a wry smile, "I know, I tried to tell the boss before, but he wouldn't listen. Regret doesn't help now."
Knowing she couldn't leave, Lemira felt increasingly frustrated.
Soon, Lucian came to, and upon seeing Lemira sitting on the couch, his face lit up with surprise, "Lemmy, you're still here?"
Lemira replied coolly, "I'm going back to rest."
"Sure, have something to eat first. I'll have Hogan drive you back."
"I've lost my appetite sitting with you. I just want to go back now."
Lemira was out of patience.
Lucian felt saddened; he knew it was Lemira who had struck him.
Hogan quickly tried to mediate, "Boss, Mrs. Caspian Langston's people are guarding outside. You should let Ms. Lemira go back herself. Forcing her to stay will only backfire." There's no forcing kindness.
Eventually, Lucian agreed, "Alright, Lemmy, I'll personally take you back."
"No need."
"If I don't, you won't be able to leave. You know how Caspian can be."
Lemira reluctantly agreed.
But she felt terribly uncomfortable about it.
Walking out of the hospital with Lucian, indeed, none of the bodyguards dared to stop her.
Hogan drove her back himself. Since Caspian knew where she lived, there was no point in hiding it anymore.
Throughout the drive, Lucian tried to find an opportunity to talk to her.
But Lemira just stared out of the window, silent.
Lucian sighed; he remembered how talkative Lemira used to be.
Whenever he was tired from work, Lemira would buzz around him, sharing recent amusing stories to cheer him up.
He couldn't understand how things had come to this point between them.
As they reached her apartment complex, Lucian cautiously said, "Lemmy, I'll make sure Evelina stays away from you, she won't hurt you again."
"Is Evelina the only one who hurt me?"
Lemira's scornful glance at Lucian was her only reply before she got out and walked away.
But then she saw a familiar figure, "Orion?"
When Orion turned and saw Lemira, he immediately put away his phone and rushed over.
His tone full of concern, "Why didn't you answer your phone or reply to my messages?"
"I just ran into an unexpected situation."
Lemira hadn't expected her return would involve being forcibly taken to the hospital by Caspian. Orion gave Lemira a long, penetrating look, sensing she wasn't telling the whole truth.
When Lucian saw Orion, he quickly got out of the car and followed.
The two men exchanged glances, each marked with hostility.
Lemira coldly told Lucian, "You can leave now."
"Lemmy, I know, I was blind before, blinded by my own foolishness, and I made mistakes."
Orion's
dripped with
"Empords show sincerity?' comfortably?" Content living
foster daughter, isn't she still.
"You all know that the surveillance footage was destroyed. Asher won't believe anything I say."
Lucian looked troubled, "Lemmy, I
can't just kick Evelina out. After all her father died trying to save our
parents, and he saved your life too."

Orion replied icily, "Are you so sure it was that driver who saved Lemira that day?"
