Chapter 621 Doubts In Heart

*Zander*

I knew the moment she averted her eyes that she had made up her mind to reject me. The thought of losing her was terrifying, a fear I couldn't even put into words. My heart pounded in my chest, each beat louder than the last.

But when our lips finally met, I felt the resistance she had been holding onto dissolve. The mate bond between us surged to life, undeniable and overwhelming. Lyon growled in my head, so overcome with love for our mate that he wanted to take over, to mark her, to make her ours forever.

Goddess, the moment I saw her in that silvery bridal gown, I had wanted to do this. She looked so breathtaking, so irresistibly stunning, I couldn't think of anything else. I wanted to forget about the trial and take her to the wedding hall, marry her, make her my wife, mate with her, impregnate her, and make her

have my pup.

Catching her lower lip between my teeth, I tugged harder, unable to get enough of her. She moaned softly, and I deepened the kiss, our lips overlapping, entangled, and entwined with an insatiable hunger. The sensation was almost too much to bear, and Selena felt the same. Her eyes fluttered shut as she wrapped her arms around my neck, pulling me closer. Her body pressed against mine, and every brush of her softness against my hard body ignited something primal within me.noveldrama

My body was on fire. I wanted to forget we were in a vacant room in the council building. I wanted to claim her, to make her mine in every sense of the word.

"Mate," I whispered against her lips, my voice raw with need. She opened her eyes, and for a moment, I thought I might lose control.

Goddess, this was it my endgame. Her hazel eyes, glistening with love, locked onto mine as if I were her entire world. That look undid me completely, driving me to the edge of reason. I wanted her. I needed her. I craved to possess her in every possible way.

I grabbed her thighs and lifted her, her legs wrapping around my waist instinctively as I slammed her against the wall. She gasped, and my tongue barged into her mouth. Fuck, she tasted like heaven. She tasted... mine. And... it felt like I had kissed her before-so many times, in fact.

My eyes closed on their own as the intensity overwhelmed me, and suddenly, I was lost in a vision. I saw myself kissing Selena in my room. She smiled lovingly at me, her arms stretching toward me, and her sweet, melodious laughter echoed through the walls.

My eyes snapped open in shock, and I found Selena staring at me with surprise.

"Wh...what's wrong?" she mumbled nervously, her innocent eyes wide with confusion.

I realized I had stopped kissing her, my grip on her waist tightening almost painfully.

"Nothing," I said quickly, loosening my grip on her. She untangled her legs from around my waist, sliding down slowly until she stood on her feet. Her expression was a mix of shock, embarrassment, and uncertainty.

But I was just as shocked as she was. She had said I forgot her, and the vision I saw felt so real. What was this puzzle? Who was she, and why couldn't I remember her at all? If we had been together, then what would have happened? Why had she left me? Why was she living in the Lunar Realm and had moved on to marry some god? What had happened in between? There were so many secrets I needed to unravel. I definitely needed answers, and until I got them, I couldn't let the mate bond weaken me.

Selena's questioning gaze remained fixed on me as she straightened her dress. I licked my lips, the words hovering on the tip of my tongue, but I couldn't bring myself to speak. I cleared my throat, trying to swallow the things I wanted to say, but the sudden doubt that crept in stopped me.

"I think we should go back," Selena broke the awkward silence. "The trial will be starting soon."

As she turned to leave, something deep inside me told me I shouldn't let her go, not with all the confusion and misunderstanding still hanging between us. I grabbed her elbow, stopping her before she could leave the room.

She spun to look at me, and I cursed under my breath at the hurt I saw in her eyes. I was such a fool for upsetting my mate. Things were going to be complicated, but she was the most important part of my life. I couldn't doubt that, no matter how complex the situation had become or how many questions lingered in my mind.

'Now you got the answer,' Lyon taunted in my head, and I couldn't disagree with him.

"Mate," I started in my remorseful and apologetic tone. "When we kissed, something happened that caught me off guard," I admitted honestly But one thing is for sure no matter what, I want you in my life. Please make your decision with our future and present in mind. I can't change our past, but I promise that whatever happened, whatever I forgot, I will make it up to you for the rest of my life."

She exhaled a heavy breath as if she'd been holding it for so long. A sense of relief appeared on her beautiful face, but the next moment she averted her eyes from mine. However, I caught the glint of tears in them. I wanted to cup her face, kiss those tears away, take her in my arms, and comfort her. Before I could do that, she turned abruptly toward the door and opened it.

"Let's go. Everyone will be waiting for us," she said.

I bit my lip, still unsure if she had forgiven me for my stupid, rude behavior or if I would have to pay for it

heavily.
