Chapter 441

Seth searched for a bag in the office and handed it over to Maurice. "Mr. Maurice, you should put that book into the bag and leave first. I'll handle it if the junk collector comes back to kick up a fuss again." Maurice then pulled out the worn-out medical literature. Its edges were frayed, and the corners were rounded out, and on it was written "Scholarly Tradition" in cursive.

Maurice stared at the book with much admiration. "I have to say, your history is truly remarkable. It's impressive for someone to have produced such timeless work.noveldrama

"If these books were collected in Estoria, Willoris medicine would surely thrive and reach its pinnacle."

As he spoke, Maurice flipped through the pages instinctively.

Seth smiled and thought that Maurice was behaving quite absurdly. Traditional medicine had long been out of the game, so why were the Eastorians treating it as if it were a treasure?

He wanted to ask when he would be able to move to Eastoria, but seeing how concentrated Maurice was as he browsed through the Scholarly Tradition, he didn't dare disturb him and waited patiently. Maurice read a few pages of it and kept exclaiming words of wonder. "Bloodletting treatment... Truly revolutionary! Shockingly groundbreaking! A stroke of genius in medical science!"

When Seth noticed how excited Maurice was, he couldn't resist asking, "Mr. Maurice, is this book truly that incredible?"

Maurice then sighed in wonder and replied, "It's incredible beyond words."

His response only made Seth even more puzzled. "Truth be told, we have frequently seen reports and articles that question the authenticity of traditional medicine either in the news or newspapers. "Some say that traditional medicine is just a feudal superstition, while others say that traditional medicine is pseudoscience. Some even say that traditional medicine is just a scam.

"Even I don't believe in traditional medicine anymore, so why do you put traditional medicine on such a high pedestal? Could there be some sort of misunderstanding?"

Upon hearing what he said, Maurice suddenly let out a smile. "I'm glad that's what you think. It seems like all of the money we spent on nurturing our talents and shaping public opinion was effective.

"After all, the anti-traditional medicine association, major accusations of traditional medicine, and the saying that traditional medicine is a stumbling block to all medical progress are all the fruits of our campaigning." Seth was stunned by his words. He had never thought that the content he once read through was all just funded propaganda.

Suddenly, Seth came to a realization and pointed at the comic books that were to be released. He said, "Then do all these comic books bring about the same effect?"

Upon hearing that, Maurice gave him a thumbs up. "Buddy, you're smart for thinking beyond the obvious. After you've moved to Eastoria, your job is to control and shape public opinion.

"It's not illegal for me to inform you about this."

Seth was incredibly astonished. It was as if he had stepped out into the world for the first time and had traveled from the countryside into the city and saw the tall buildings, cars, and airplanes for the very first time. It was a life-changing impact that could never be rivaled!

"Aren't you blowing things out of proportion? Is it really necessary to go to such lengths just to get a hold of traditional medicine?"

Maurice shook his head slightly. "You... are quite short-sighted.

"How can our country become stronger when the Azura Clan continues to face barren lands and scarce resources, while our people remain to lack concern for impending troubles?

"By! Seizing! Opportunities! Only by taking everything and leaving no stone unturned can we gain more and become an even stronger country."

The more Seth listened to him, the more he found himself getting dumbfounded. He initially thought he could live well after he became an Eastorian by receiving a green card.

Now that he heard the stories pouring from Maurice's lips, he felt that Eastoria wasn't that great of a place anymore. Even the land was filled with harsh and barren conditions.

As such, the disappointment began to somewhat settle within Seth's heart. He seemed to have chosen the wrong place to move to. Not only that, but Seth also felt that Maurice's statements were problematic.

"You can steal an Eclipse Pearl and

say that it's yours afterward. But

Vernet

how can you steal or seize traditional medicine and make your own? Though traditional medicine has fallen from the ranks,

its legacy remains."

However, Maurice shook his head in disagreement, "What you said might be the truth. I believe that if there's a will, then there'll be a way.

"If the Azura Clan wishes to learn traditional medicine, it's quite a simple feat to achieve. All we have to do is to send 3,000 students to learn it.

"However... having learned traditional medicine didn't mean that it belonged to the Azura Clan. The only way to make traditional medicine ours is to make it completely disappear from this country.

"After promoting traditional medicine in a negative light non-stop for decades, everyone finally came to believe that traditional medicine equals stupidity.

"Those tales included the saying that traditional medicine was feudal superstition, involved doing abhorrent crimes, and goes against the nature of science.

"As a result, people of this country no longer believe in traditional medicine. Eventually, traditional medicine will vanish from this country.

"Soon after, we will become the successors of traditional medicine and carry it forward. That will be when traditional medicine solely belongs to the Azura Clan. This is what we truly mean by acquiring traditional medicine."

Having heard Maurice's explanation, Seth's eyes widened in disbelief. This plan of theirs... was extraordinarily ambitious.

It was a long-term plan spanning decades and even involved unprecedented scopes and duration.

But as he thought about it in detail,

he'd consider their plan successful, because even he had believed that traditional medicine went against the nature of science. Their traditional medicine had long been stolen away.

What Seth had thought was mere superstition held so much value that Maurice and his clan had invested so much into acquiring it.

The traditional medicine he had dismissed as worthless was, in fact, what the Eastorians had schemed so meticulously to steal over the decades.
