The Other Me

The Other Me

what just happened?

I opened my eyes, found myself in the middle of a valley with a large building in front.

The building is made of a large white stone which is carved into a giant altar with two white rings floating still above it. On the left and right, there are high mountains, mountains that somehow feel so lonely, silent without life.

Suddenly I realized that my body had just been stabbed with a sword.

I immediately touched the chest where the sword should have been, but found nothing. Even when I looked inside the clothes, there was absolutely no scar which made me wonder.

Am I already in heaven? Then, why is it so quiet?

Shouldn't there be a lot of people, considering that everyone who has rested should be here.

Is it possible that everyone's heaven is different?

Out of curiosity, I stepped closer to the building which I realized more and more, that in fact the building was very large, the same height as the mountains that almost took up the entire valley. There were nor windows or air ventilation in this building, it was smooth without any damage, it looked as grand as it had just been built.

There's no way a living being could make something like this, right?

At this size, it would take years and not necessarily be formed neatly without any defects as I see now.

This building before my eyes, seemed to emit a mystical aura, an aura that could not be possessed by ordinary living things, but something beyond common sense. For some reason, I continue to have the intention to pay a tribute that I myself do not know who to give.

A few minutes later, when I looked at the sky, I realized that the clouds weren't moving at all, but were as still as a painting.

I had this weird feeling from the start and was trying to figure out what might be causing it.

But couldn't find anything so I took a moment, watching the clouds hidden behind the mountain peaks, waiting for them to come out on their own.

But nothing, nothing happened, still in place.

Could it be that the time in this world has stopped turning?

If so, why?

Funny thing is, even though these strange things were happening, I didn't feel the least bit alert. Instead, I feel calm, as if I were where I should be, a place that has been missing for a long time, a place I might call home.

However, if something that freezes everything in a place like this is a house, what am I?

An ordinary human could not stay long in a place like this without losing his mind.

Too quiet, too empty, vacant and has no purpose.

Meanwhile, humans and even all living things must have a purpose in their lives as fuel to keep moving forward. Living things without a purpose are like inanimate objects waiting to be thrown away.

That's right, there's no way this is my house.

I'm always looking for a purpose in life, trying to reach my dreams and live an ordinary life like other humans, it's impossible to live here.

This is not a house, but a prison, a prison that was deliberately created to confine something that cannot be confined with ordinary reason.

Something beyond the comprehension of living beings.

"That's right"

I gasped in surprise, looked back trying to find the origin of the foreign voice but found no one. Left or right, above and below, I found no one, only myself, alone.

"That's because I am you"

"Enough with the jokes. Reveal yourself. I don't want any games" I said while clenching my fists, getting ready to defend if something came crashing.

From the side, a voice that was difficult to describe was heard and from the origin of that sound, a man formed from a mass of transparent blue cubes.

He has the exact same form as me, like a clone, so perfect without any differences.

The figure stepped forward, tilted its head with a confused face seeing my position that was ready to attack "What do you want to do? Attack yourself? You know you're going to get hurt, right?"

"I won't believe that easily, especially not with a creature created from a collection of transparent cubes" I replied curtly, taking two steps away, not wanting to be near him, not with that suspicious face.

"You do realize you just insulted yourself right?"

"You can hear me?" I asked with widened eyes.

He sighed, shook his head disappointedly then looked back at me with the look of a parent who has just seen their child's test scores "It's fascinating how we're the same.

But, you know, I can't blame you for being sealed for so long to have amnesia and create another persona in your own head.

Just call me Z, I don't want to confuse your pea-sized brain because of the same name." He ordered, turning his head to pay attention to the large building in front that seemed so tall.

"I never thought the time would come for us to talk like this. I don't know how long I waited. Seconds after seconds, minutes after minutes, hours after hours, day after day until finally it became year after year.

Maybe I should say 'welcome home', but that doesn't feel right considering this is a prison that has locked us up. At least you can feel the outside world, while I can only be here, waiting for you to come back" He explained slowly.

"If you really are another part of me, shouldn't you be able to feel what I feel? It's according to what you said earlier. I hit you and we both felt the pain" I replied, still hard to believe.

I can't just trust someone, especially if you've just been transported to another world.

Who knew that this being in front of me actually wanted my body to say things like this to confuse me-

"I can still hear you you know"

Shit, I totally forgot about that.

He sighed once again "It's up to you to believe it or not, the point is I have answered your curiosity. And yes, I can feel what you feel too.

However, because before that you were still unaware of this seal, I only vaguely sensed what you felt. It's fine, I'm happy to feel it. Compared to feeling nothing in a world that is a small part of a big world.

You really have to control that heart of yours, you always let it control you. It's not bad, but you could put both of our lives in danger."

"Okay, okay, fine. Let's just say I already believed you, there must be a reason why I suddenly found this world or this seal again, right? And you haven't told me why you waited for me" I said, difficult to process the unfolding events.

"Oh relax. I'm waiting for you because it's time for us to bzzzt"

"What?"

"I said, it's time for us to bzzzt"

I shook my head slowly and he understood right away, as if we truly were the same person, one mind and one soul.

He let out a disappointed sigh, looking up, beneath the stillness of the vast sky "Apparently, whatever sealed us, gave everything so that we couldn't return to carrying out the mission, a plan that completely failed because it turned out that you were summoned to Alterra too-

The world you were transported to, that's Alterra" He added quickly when he saw my blank stare "I still don't understand why we are the same person"

And of course, he again sighed heavily as if he had just seen the biggest failure in life.
