Before The War

Before The War

"As planned, we will strike them and the Varren group will rescue the prisoners. Remember, this is the most crucial part of the Elecya's revival plan. Elecya is just a meaningless name without all of you.

As the Crown Prince, someone who will ascend to the throne and lead you all, I promise victory for all of us! We will reclaim Elecya! We will show the pirates that we are not a race to be trampled upon! We are the elven race! Make them understand! They are nothing in front of us! FOR ELECYA!!

FOR ELECYA!!

FOR ELECYA!!

FOR ELECYA!!

Their cheers gave me a spirit that sent shivers down my spine with each person's unwavering determination. The roar, like a raging wave, echoed loudly in this underground space, filling it with the fiery passion of souls eagerly awaiting a resurrection.

This feeling reminds me of the time when we infiltrated the palace, something that has now become a memory and brings a smile to my face as I continue to move forward.

Wait, Zhao, Wei, just wait. I won't disappoint both of you.

Just like the plan, we separated into four groups. Three attack groups and one rescue group. The three attack groups moved not through the underground path, but took the main route, moving in a large and long formation with fiery gazes. They were the groups tasked with grabbing the attention of the pirates and, if possible, breaking them apart. The group I am currently in.

The rescue group will only come out when the number of pirates in the stronghold has significantly decreased, then they will free the prisoners through several underground paths because it's impossible for all of them to pass through just one narrow underground path. The number of prisoners is too large for such a narrow passage.

Therefore, as the attack group, we have to make a big impact to divert the entire attention of the pirates towards us. That's why I am now taking a different path to quickly take Glory in the bar.

I know I might look suspicious, suddenly running into a narrow alleyway just to disappear into the darkness. But they will be grateful that I took that transparent cube. We can't possibly face pirates with a number three times larger than ours without a great power assistance. Moreover, the Captain gave me a disturbing feeling ever since I first saw him.

He may not be as strong as that crazy guy, but he is not far behind Zhao and Wei, which makes me wonder. Do the pirates have some special abilities like magic or something?

It's unlikely that they win just by using flying ships, cannons, and flintlocks, right?

There is a missing puzzle piece here. The final piece that could either lead us to victory or be the beginning of our downfall.

Whatever it is, I prefer to know the reason behind it rather than diving into the battlefield without any information. And I feel like all of this is connected to Glory.

I quicken my pace, trying to run as fast as possible before the war begins, or I'll be late to help. The bar is only a few hundred meters away, just need to pass a few blocks, and then I'll be there.

However, as I'm about to turn on the last block, I quickly hide behind a wall, observing several pirates standing in front of the bar, searching for something. Are they looking for the bar?

But why?

I decided to approach, using a narrow alley that could bring me closer to the pirates, and then I stood there, trying to listen to their conversation.

"Arrr, be ye certain the lassie scurried to this very spot?" one of them asked.

"Avast! Be ye claimin' I be as blind as a bilge rat, Clint? I be tellin' ye, me own eyes witnessed the sight. She be takin' off in this direction, and then vanished into thin air, all thanks to that cursed sorcery. Them slippery and craven creatures, aye, a shameful bunch, I tell ye!" he sneered, then spat on the ground.

"Arr, what be our course now, matey? We can't be returnin' to the Captain without the cure, for if we do, he'll send us to Davy Jones' locker, that he will!" said the third pirate with a voice that sounded like a heavy smoker.

"Blast it all! I should've known better than to place me trust in that elven wench. She be temptin' me with her charm, aye, too hard to resist" the fourth one replied, sounding frustrated.

What actually happened between them and the two elves inside the bar? It can't be what I'm thinking, right?

Seeing them getting closer to the bar, I looked around, searching for something I could throw to get their attention. Then I found a palm-sized stone.

I picked it up, throwing the stone while searching for where I should lure them, and I spotted a crumbling building debris, just waiting to collapse with a slight touch.

I threw the stone towards it, hitting the debris. The pirates immediately turned around, communicating through expressions and slowly walking towards the spot with wide grins adorning their faces, thinking they had found it.

As they all entered the crumbling building, I, who had been following them from behind, quickly ran and stood in front of the pirates, who now realized they had walked into a trap.

Fear was evident on each of their faces, pleading silently through their gazes. They were afraid that even a single word uttered might trigger me to push the wooden structure holding the ceiling.

As my hand drew closer, one of them shouted, asking me not to do it in exchange for information.

Of course, I stopped. Because who wouldn't be interested? "Fine, speak. If the information is even slightly worthless, I'll push this wood. Do you understand?"

They nodded, exchanged glances, waiting to see who would step forward to speak.

Finally, one of the pirates took a step forward, stopping a few paces in front and said,We meant no harm to the elves, mateys. Orders came from a mysterious bloke, but hold yer horses! WAIT! he shouted as my hand approached the wood again. "Our Cap'n uses-"

"Black!"

"Blast it all! We be left with no bleedin' choice, ye scurvy dogs! Ye don't be wishin' to meet a gruesome end, do ye?!" he snapped.

My index finger touched the wooden beam, causing their eyes to widen with a visible sense of fear. "Last chance," I said.

"Our Cap'n wields a see-through cube that bestows upon us an unholy might, enhancin' our physical prowess beyond that of mere mortals!"

Oh? Interesting.

"Hmm, I admit the information is intriguing, but is that all? You know your lives are now in my hands. Just a little pressure and..."

"Avast, hold yer tongue! Hold yer tongue! We got another piece o' information to share, though 'tis but a whisper on the wind. Our Cap'n, ye see, has his sights set on collectin' all them cubes, aimin' to claim a grand prize from that enigmatic soul. But mark me words, me hearties, 'tis a mere rumor circulatin' amongst us scurvy pirates that our Cap'n plans to double-cross the bloke!"

"Do you know the name of that man?"

"Ezreal."

"Thank you for the information." I pressed the wood next to me and turned away, leaving the pirates buried in the rubble. If they indeed had that additional power, they should still be able to survive even if severely injured.

Inside the bar, Euna stood by the window, smiling happily at me and suddenly started running, jumping to give me a warm hug. Her embrace was so tight that it was hard for me to breathe. Only after I tapped her back a few times did she realize that I was almost suffocating. "Sorry, I was so excited that I forgot you're just an ordinary human."

I'm certain that suffocating hug doesn't only apply to ordinary humans.

"You came here to retrieve Glory, right? I will get it for you, and I also have good news," she shouted enthusiastically. "Zhao Feng and Wei will join the battle soon.

They are currently recovering their bodies, purging the remnants of toxins through meditation. So, you don't need to worry. We will definitely win this war," she then rushed upstairs, a bit too hastily, and slipped on the stairs.

I not only tried to hold back laughter at the sight, but also restrained myself from running upstairs to meet them and check if it was true. I realized it wasn't the time for that now.

I must return to help immediately, especially after spending so much time gathering information from the pirates. The information was crucial, worthy of the time spent.

I think I might be able to provide the elves with significant assistance that can tilt the victory in our favor. What kind of assistance? We'll see later.

One thing is certain, I can't wait to do it.

"Stop acting so mysteriously, it doesn't suit you."

Oh, come on!
