The journey to the outskirts of the city took longer than I anticipated. The sun was heading towards the west, probably around 3 o'clock in the afternoon.
During the journey, I witnessed various horrifying things that had been hidden from television.
The brutality of warfare.
Humans, just like me, people who had recently been teleported to this world, had started their resistance, a resistance that felt more like a massacre.
Modern weapons were capable of injuring creatures from this world, but unfortunately, they didn't inflict serious wounds unless using RPGs and other high-explosive weapons.
Some people like me also began to emerge, individuals who had acquired new abilities within their bodies, akin to gaining superpowers. Perhaps because of that, they became brave enough to fight back, even though it often ended up in shredded flesh.
The conclusion that can be drawn at the moment is that, we, who have received these new abilities, can continue to use them without worrying about mana, unlike those who use magic.
They cannot use it continuously without taking breaks, especially when using other types of magic as it would consume much more mana. However, in exchange, they receive a much stronger power than us.
In theory, we could win the battle.
Unfortunately, humans on our side have no experience in this field, and the military members who have also received these additional abilities are only a few in number, outnumbered by those from this world. They also still don't fully understand how to use them to their maximum potential, resulting in some deaths due to mistakes in their usage.
But, in my opinion, that is already good.
At least, we weren't transferred to another world without any means to survive. Otherwise, we would have surely perished within a matter of days.
I continued to trace the narrow path after glancing back at the city where I used to live. I never thought I would actually leave the city that had been my home for over 10 years.
It made me a little scared, but the overwhelming sense of excitement overcame it. If it weren't for the fear of being attacked, I might have already run off to explore this world, experiencing a new adventure that I could never have felt in the previous world.
It's not long ago that I accidentally saw a flying ship.
Do you believe it? A flying ship!
Not an airplane, hot air balloon, zeppelin, or anything like that, but an actual ship! A ship that can truly soar through the air!
I know some people might say, "What's so great about a flying ship?" And I understand, it's hard to beat something that has made us feel comfortable, especially when we have been accustomed to seeing it since childhood.
However, as a fan of the fantasy genre, a flying ship is a dream come true. It's something I hoped could actually exist in the previous world, even though, in terms of functionality, it would have many shortcomings compared to an airplane.
Stolen story; please report.
I'm eager to try it out as soon as possible.
Hopefully, in the city mentioned by the redhead, there is a flying ship. I just need to find the means to afford it, and it'll be done. I believe in that city, I can find some jobs similar to the way quests work in games or comics.
I don't know why, but I have a strong belief in it. Perhaps you could say it's a special ability of a fantasy lover.
During the journey, as far as my eyes could see, there stretched vast grasslands, accompanied by a gentle breeze that felt so refreshing.
Now, I understand why in every story or game, adventurers prefer to travel on foot rather than using transportation. What I'm experiencing now, you would never find it in the previous world. There's something about this place that resonates with the words "natural and magical" at the same time.
It's difficult to explain, but I'll try to describe it.
Imagine yourself on a vast expanse of grass, feeling the pleasure of a gentle breeze that is neither cold nor hot, perfectly in the middle, providing a sense of comfort that you would never experience even with air conditioning. At the same time, there's a tingling sensation as delicate as honey, which I suppose is the magic.
Yes, I know it's confusing, but that's what I feel.
Like a dream.
That's the perfect phrase to describe it.
To be honest, if the air in the previous world was like this, I would prefer to stay outside, wandering wherever just to enjoy life. The smile that has been on my face since I set foot on the grassland continues to linger.
Is this what life is supposed to be like?
Calm, peaceful.
I love it.
It will be one of the most beautiful memories I have.
Soon, the sight of the forest started to appear in the distance, resembling a translucent black shadow.
As I approached, the enormity of the trees became more apparent, with lush greenish-yellow leaves and sturdy trunks thicker than an elephant's leg. The roots spread far, intertwining with the roots of other trees before disappearing into the ground.
Around them, beautiful and colorful mushrooms could be seen, which I guessed would glow as the day grew dark, with fireflies fluttering about, adorning the wide gaps between one tree and another.
I can't wait to see it, to experience something that I've only been able to see in comics, games, and movies. It's one of the dreams on my list if I were in a fantasy world.
Why wasn't I born in this world?
I would definitely choose this world over my previous one.
Honestly, it doesn't matter if there's no internet as long as I can experience the unparalleled beauty of nature that awaits me in the future. Not to mention meeting different races, not just humans. Learning to use magic, embarking on adventures to new areas full of challenges!
Zent, Zent, calm yourself.
Take a deep breath, exhale.
Okay, okay. I might have gotten a little carried away with my excitement. Please forgive me.
After taking another deep breath and preparing myself, I stepped inside, observing the forest from left to right, trying to store everything in my memory so that my experience in this world wouldn't only consist of bad memories.
I also needed to clear my head after witnessing various horrifying things in the city. I hope they can escape and find a much better hiding place. There's no hope left in that city; it's time for us to step into the new world.
Will I miss things from the previous world?
Definitely.
Who wouldn't miss games, comics, movies, ice cream, chocolate— I hope there's chocolate in this world. If not, I'll rediscover it and create a new type of chocolate after trying every plant in this world.
Indeed, that's how life is, isn't it?
Sometimes you have to keep moving forward, accepting the circumstances even if they are completely contrary to what you desire. Use the new opportunities you receive to pursue your dreams, so that you don't forget your initial goals and yourself.
Many people lose themselves because they forget this important aspect, and never give up or choose a path that they will later regret. By doing so, you will truly enjoy life.
It's a wise saying from someone who always forgets to follow it.
How ironic.
Well, Zent, just enjoy your own life for now instead of lecturing others. Your own life is still a mess, and who knows what dangers you'll face in a few seconds ahead.
And not even five seconds later, a faint sound of someone crying could be heard.
Great! You just got yourself into trouble!
Bravo, Zent! Bravo!
Ughh.. Damn it.
