Truth or Dare

"Truth or dare? You're up to something; I don’t trust you," Seong said

Amelie replied, “Come on, what's the worst that could happen? If you're that scared, we'll make it a vote between all four of us. If a request is unreasonable, the person can choose not to do it.”

“Yeah, stop being a scaredy cat,” Eun-Jeoung teased.

Seong replied, “I am not scared, I will only play if Minjun plays,” secretly hoping that Minjun would decline to play.

“I'll play,” Minjun said, crushing Seong's hope of saving himself.

Amelie asked, “Who's going first?”

“Let's spin a bottle, and whoever the top points at will go first,” Eun-Jeoung suggested.

Amelie agreed, “Okay.”

Eun-Jeoung brought out a bottle, gave it a spin, and it landed on Minjun. “Truth or Dare?” Amelie asked in a deep voice.

Minjun answered, “Truth.”

“Who do you think is more beautiful, me or Eun-Jeoung?” Amelie asked.

Seong knew these questions would be asked, so he didn't want to play. But now Minjun has dug himself a hole. “What is the punishment for not answering?” Minjun asked.

Eun-Jeoung explained, “Usually, you would have to drink, but we are still underage. So, in replacement, we shall eat this spicy chip, but no milk.”

“Pass me the chip,” Minjun said.

He took the chip and ate it. His mouth started burning, and even tears formed in his eyelids. This terrified Seong. He was decently good with spicy food but knew that chip was well above his spice level.

Amelie said, “You should have answered the question.”

“It's not that bad,” Minjun insisted, wiping away the tears that had formed on his eyelids.

Amelie pointed out, “You’re literally crying.”

“Okay, maybe it's a bit spicy. Let's just move on to the next person,” Minjun suggested.

The next person was Eun-Jeoung. “Truth or dare?” Seong asked.

“Truth,” Eun-Jeoung said.

“Do you want to date anyone in the group?” Seong asked.

Eun-Jeoung answered, “Yes.”

Seong thought, ‘It's probably one of those good-looking guys like Alejandro or Minjun.’ Amelie said, “Truth or dare?”

“Truth,” Seong replied.

Eun-Jeoung asked, “What's the worst thing you've ever done.”

Seong, hesitatingly, said, “Pass me a chip.” He took the chip and ate it; his mouth burned, and his body begged for milk, but he couldn't do anything, and tears started to form on his eyelids.

“You must have done something really bad to eat that chip,” Amelie observed.

Seong, with his mouth on fire, said, “It's your turn, truth or dare?”

“Truth,” Amelie said.

“Who would you date, me or Seong?” Minjun asked.

“Pass me that chip, you devil,” Amelie said. She took the chip, and she experienced the most pain because she had the lowest spice tolerance among the three. Her mouth felt like it was on fire, and tears streamed uncontrollably.

“I just shed a few tears, but it seems like you’re going to shed an entire ocean,” Seong remarked.

Amelie retorted, “Shut up.”

Eun-Jeoung asked, “Do you want to do another round?”

“Sure,” Minjun agreed.

Seong declined, saying, “No, thanks.”

Amelie, seeking revenge on Minjun, chimed in, “Yeah, let’s do another round.”

“Truth or dare, Minjun?” Eun-Jeoung asked.

“Dare,” Minjun replied.

Amelie smirked, “Make a fake proposal.”

“Okay,” Minjun agreed. He stood up, approached Seong, and theatrically asked, “Will you marry me?” The four of them burst into laughter.

Eun-Jeoung said, “Out of all the things I thought you would do, I did not expect that. Smart.”

“Truth or dare,” Seong asked Eun-Jeoung.

Eun-Jeoung chose “truth.”

Seong thought of a question that she couldn’t easily dodge, wanting to have her experience the spice of the chip like the rest of them. He asked, “Who do you like more, Ara or Yun-Hee?” Seong asked this question, knowing either answer could potentially cause her problems since they were classmates for the next two years.

“Yun-Hee,” Eun-Jeoung replied without hesitating.

Seong was quite shocked by this response but didn’t ask any further questions. “Your turn, Seong, truth or dare,” Amelie said with wide eyes, as if she anticipated something intense.

“Yeah, I know, truth,” Seong said.

Amelie asked, “Would you date anyone that came to the dinner?”

Just as Seong was about to respond, a notification sound echoed from everyone's phone. “The grades are out,” Minjun said.

“Let's open them at the same time,” Eun-Jeoung suggested.

Seong agreed, saying, “Okay.”

Amelie initiated the countdown, “Three, two, one.”

Seong opened the text, and it read, ‘The grades for Seong-Min in the first assignment are 10/10, granting you 200 ranking points. I hope you are satisfied with your grade. If not, strive to improve in the next assignment. If you have received an E, you have been expelled, and you must vacate your dorm by the end of the week. Those who have attained 9 and above are invited to a special meeting with the principal tomorrow at noon.’

“What did you get?” asked Eun-Jeoung.

Seong replied, “You first,” with a smile on his face.

“I got 7 out of 10,” Eun-Jeoung said.

Minjun shared, “I also got 7 out of 10.”

“I received 9 out of 10,” Amelie announced.

Seong smiled and said, “I got a perfect 10 out of 10.”

“As expected, you alone won us the assignment,” Amelie said.

Seong replied, “It was a group effort; everyone contributed.”

“Whatever you say,” Amelie teased.

Then Seong received two messages simultaneously. One was from Ara, who wrote, ‘I got 7 out of 10, what about you?’ He replied and then moved on to the next message from Alejandro, ‘I got 8 out of 10.’ He replied back.

“Alejandro got 8 out of 10 while Ara only got 7 out of 10,” Seong shared.

Amelie said, “7 is well above the average. I think you're undervaluing it.”

“Maybe I am,” Seong said, considering Amelie's perspective. “Where are you supposed to go for the meeting?”

Amelie replied, “I would tell you, but since I am going to, I'll just take you with me.”

“Okay, don’t forget me,” Seong said.

Amelie reassured him, “I won’t, but you should wear something nice, not casual clothes. It will look disrespectful.”

“Let me see what I have,” Seong said. Opening his closet, Seong realized he didn't have many casual clothes but did find three suits that belonged to his father and fit him well.

“You think a suit is overkill?” Seong asked.

Amelie responded, “That's perfect. Let me see how they look.”

Amelie observed, “They seem very old but are in really good shape and quality. Whoever knows clothes, I would say not to wear basic colors because it may seem quite generic. So, I would suggest you wear a white shirt and then a dark blue blazer and dark blue pants. It will look unique.”

“I agree with Amelie's fashion sense. It will make you stand out,” Eun-Jeoung added.

Seong replied, “Okay, I will trust you.”

“I’ll be at your dorm at 11:30. Don’t make me wait,” Amelie said with a serious look in her eyes. “We’ll also be leaving now.”

Seong said, “Bye.”

After a few hours, Seong got a message from Yun-Hee, ‘I got eight out of ten. What about you?

‘I got ten out of ten,’ Seong replied.

Yun-Hee congratulated him, saying, ‘Congrats.’

Nothing else eventful happened on that day.

The next day, Seong got up and decided to head to the indoor gym to get a bit of a workout since he didn’t have his study session that day. He headed out of the dorm and went to the second floor.

The gym was completely empty except for one boy with a buff build who seemed to have been going to the gym for quite a while. He said, “Hey, I am Hwan.”

“I am Seong,” Seong replied.

Hwan asked, “Is it your first time in the gym?” as he observed Seong’s slim body shape.

“Yeah,” Seong admitted.

Hwan offered, “Do you want me to show you a workout that you can do?”

“Sure, if it doesn’t bother you,” Seong replied.

Hwan proceeded to demonstrate a workout for shoulders and chest, which included lateral raises, shoulder press with dumbbells, decline dumbbell bench press, and machine fly. “You don’t need that many exercises, just a few per body part, and you should do them for a few sets with consistency,” Hwan advised.

Seong expressed, “Thank you for your advice; I will make sure to incorporate it into my workout routine.”

Hwan replied, “No problem. Have a good workout,” and then left the gym. After he departed, Seong followed the workout he had been shown, completing 20 reps for 3 sets before leaving.

As he entered the dorm, Eun-Jeoung asked, “Where have you been?”

Seong replied, “At the gym.”

“You could have told me,” Eun-Jeoung complained.

“You were in deep sleep so I didn’t want to disturb you. I'm going to freshen up,” Seong explained.

“Okay,” Eun-Jeoung said. After Seong freshened up, he decided to get ready early.
