Seong, Amelie, and Ara continued their search for plants, and amidst their exploration, Amelie took the opportunity to inquire about Ara's relationship with Seong. Amelie asked, "What is your relationship with Seong?"
Ara replied, "Just friends," but added a quiet mumble, "For now" which Amelie couldn't hear.
Amelie, sensing something more, responded skeptically, "Hmm, it doesn't seem that way, but okay."
Undeterred, the trio continued the search, scouring the area for the specific plants. Two hours later, their efforts paid off as they stumbled upon a patch of water lilies. Ara excitedly exclaimed, "They are water lilies here!".
Seong and Amelie headed Ara's way and then plucked 12 water lilies, more than enough, and continued their search to find the other plants. After another hour and a half, they decided to head to the scientist.
When they arrived, there was already a bunch of students from their group. Amelie went towards a student and asked, "Did you get the plant that we needed?"
"I got a passionflower," a student yelled out.
Another student said, "I got the water lilies."
Everyone continued, one after another which made it hubbub so Seong yelled out, "Could you place all plants on the floor? Instead of yelling out it would be much easier please".
All the students followed his order, keeping the plants on the floor and backing away. Amelie and Seong took a look at what they had brought, while Ara stayed behind.
"We have everything," Seong said.
Seong gathered the necessary materials and headed to the pharmaceutical scientist. The scientist, after looking at Seong's face, remarked, "Aren't you the boy from the day before yesterday?"
"I was," Seong replied.
The pharmaceutical scientist said, "What do you have for me today?"
Seong took out two Epiphytes, one passionflower, and three Amazon water lilies. The scientist looked at the plants and gave him an injection.
"Thank you," Seong said and left for the go-to robot with Amelie while the rest of the group stayed back.
After Seong and Amelie reached the robot and kept the injection in the robot, it lit up like last time and showed a loading bar that said fifty percent. "As expected," Seong said and took out his notebook, starting to cross off diseases.
"How many diseases are left?" Amelie asked.
Seong answered, "Thirty."
"Are you sure you're going to get it in four days?" asked Amelie.
Seong replied, "In the morning, I had a bit of fear, but after this result, I am sure I will get it."
"Okay, let's head back and tell them the result," said Amelie.
A case of theft: this story is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.
After returning to the rest of the group, Amelie suggested, "Let's move to the exit; I'll share the results there. There might be someone listening here."
They all proceeded to the back exit, and once they gathered, Amelie declared, "The cure was fifty percent."
A student expressed frustration, saying, "All that effort, and we made no progress."
Amelie retorted, "I mentioned it would take four days. Are you questioning my judgment?"
The students fell silent after Amelie's comment, and then everyone received a message on their phones: 'Section 1 has been solved by Mr. Williams's group, and grades will be given after the assignment.' This further dampened the students' morale, given the lack of progress over the past three days and the lag behind Mr. Williams's group.
Seong stepped forward and declared, "This section will go to our group. None of you have to worry; I guarantee I will solve it in the next three days." While it didn't completely restore morale, it did provide a glimmer of hope.
Amelie whispered in Seong's ear, "Thank you."
After Seong's speech everyone started to leave, on the bus back Seong asked Ara, "Where are you planning to take me?"
"It's a surprise," Ara replied.
After they got off the bus, Ara walked over to Min-Soo and said something, but it wasn't audible for Seong, so he had to wait until they got there. Min-Soo went and brought the black car with RR on it; it seemed very old. Seong and Ara were in the back seat while Min-Soo got in the front seat, and they exited campus. Then Seong asked, "Aren't we not allowed to leave campus?"
"We are not allowed to unless we have special permission," said Ara.
Seong said, "I don't have special permission."
"It's fine; I won't tell them you left, nor will Min-Soo, right Min-Soo?" Ara said.
Min-Soo replied, "My lips are sealed, milady."
Seong wondered 'why she was called milady' by Min-Soo but decided not to pry into family information. After a few minutes, they reached their destination – a cemetery. Seong pondered what they were doing at a grave site.
"We're here," Min-Soo announced.
Ara said, "Shall we go?"
"We made it all this way, so we shall," said Seong.
Ara and Seong left the car and headed to the grave. The gravestone was made of a greyish stone, and engraved on it was a name – Sarah Evergreen. Ara spoke softly, "That's my mother's grave. She died when I was four. Today is the day she passed away, so I thought I should visit her grave."
Seong expressed what others usually said when he shared about his parent's death, "I am sorry for your loss." This was the first time Seong had been to a gravesite since he buried his parents. He refrained from visiting their gravesites earlier to avoid dwelling on the memories they shared, which tended to make him feel depressed.
Seong asked, "Doesn't it hurt every time you come back to your mother's grave?"
"Of course, it hurts not having a mother since I was young, but I still have a few memories of her, so I cherish those here," Ara replied.
Seong thought, 'She is the complete opposite of me. Unlike me, she cherishes her memories of her mother, while I get depressed because I didn't get to have more of the experience. I am so worthless son.'
After a few minutes of silence, Ara said, "Let's go head to the academy so we don't get late for our lecture."
Both of them headed back and went to their lecture. Seong didn't speak much at all during the time. After the lecture, Ara said, "If it would make you this depressed, I would have not brought you with me."
"It's not that. Today made me realize the mistakes I made," Seong said.
Ara didn't fully grasp the depth of Seong's feelings, assuming it was related to his parents. Nonetheless, she tried to offer comfort by saying, "You'll see them in three more months; I'm sure can fix your mistakes then I am sure they will forgive you."
"They died," Seong replied in a gloomy tone and added, "and I haven't visited their grave since they passed away. I feel like I am such an ungrateful child."
Ara was shocked; she didn't know what to say. Just then, Ha-rin, who was passing out homework sheets, overheard their conversation and said, "You cannot change the past, so there is no point in dewilling on it. Just focus on the present and see what you can do for them now."
Seong understood what Ha-rin was trying to convey and said, "Thank you for your wisdom, madam."
After Ha-rin left, he turned to Ara and said, "Thank you for taking me today; you showed me that you can make negative thoughts positive in the way you perceive them."
Ara didn't say anything but understood what Seong was telling her. Seong headed to his dorm, checked when the term would end, and decided he would visit the grave then.
