Seong dressed in a crisp white shirt paired with dark blue pants, opting to leave the blazer for later. Exiting the bathroom, Eun-Jeoung greeted him, "You look good."
"Thank you," Seong replied with a grateful smile.
Eun-Jeoung then handed him a sandwich, cautioning, "I made this for you. Just be careful not to let anything spill on that shirt."
"I won't," Seong assured her, savoring the sandwich.
An hour later, the doorbell rang. Eun-Jeoung eagerly opened it and warmly greeted, "Hi Amelie."
"Hi Eun-Jeoung, is Seong ready?" Amelie inquired.
"Yeah," Eun-Jeoung replied.
Seong emerged, now adorned in his blazer. "Let's get going," he suggested.
Exiting the dorm, Seong noticed Amelie wearing a dark blue dress. "Why are you matching me?" he asked, a playful grin on his face.
Amelie said, "I wasn't trying to; it just happened."
"Are you sure?" Seong inquired.
Amelie shrugged. "If you've got that big of a problem, your dorm's right there. Why don't you just go and change into something else?"
Seong chuckled. "No thanks, too much work. Let's head to the meeting."
They exited the building, strolled towards the central white skyscraper, and ascended to the 13th floor. Upon arrival, they found four other people—two boys and two girls. Seong recognized one of them, Jin Ae, dressed in a striking black dress.
"Hello, I'm Tae," one of the boys stepped forward and introduced himself.
Seong responded, "I'm Seong," while Amelie remained silent, her expression serious.
"What group are you in?" Tae inquired.
"Why ask a question when you already know the answer?" Amelie replied with a hint of assertiveness.
Tae grinned. "Seems like you can talk."
Seong sensed the tension, realizing there was unresolved conflict. "This is a meeting; could you keep your mouth shut?" Amelie advised pointedly.
Tae retorted, "Seems like you still haven't fixed your bad mouth."
Before the situation could escalate further, the door swung open, and Camila said. "Come in, students."
All of them entered the room. It was adorned with a large desk holding a lamp and scattered papers. Mrs. Camila occupied the seat behind the table. The focal point of the room was the exquisite chandelier hanging above, adding an air of elegance to the space.
Camila greeted them, saying, "Hello, students."
"Hello, Mrs. Camila," they all responded in unison.
"I've gathered you here to personally congratulate each of you for achieving exceptionally high grades on the first assignment. However, don't let this praise make you complacent," Camila emphasized.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
"Yes, Mrs. Camila," they echoed once more in unison, acknowledging the reminder.
Camila announced, "That is all I have to say for now. You may all leave, except Seong and Jin Ae."
After the others departed, she continued, "You two are the only students who received a perfect score of 10 on this assignment. Typically, such accomplishment merits a reward. However, due to the loss by the Jin Ae group, the reward won't be granted. Nevertheless, I believe you should at least be informed about what the reward would have been," Camila explained.
"I understand," Jin Ae responded.
Seong voiced his concern, "I don't think that's fair."
Camila inquired, "What do you find unfair?"
Seong expressed his perspective, "She solved the assignment first. If the rest of her group failed, how is it her fault?"
Camila responded with a thoughtful sigh, "Seong, the entire world is not fair. Someone born into an influential family has more power and resources to ensure their child's success compared to someone born into an average family. Or consider a talented child versus a less talented one – both are just children, but one is born from a human but has more natural ability. So, how is that fair? Nothing in this world is inherently fair."
Seong asserted, "I understand, but those external factors might be beyond our control. However, the choices we make are within our hands."
Camila countered, "These things, Seong, are not in your hands; they are in mine. I determine how they play out."
"I understand, Mrs. Camila," Seong replied, acknowledging her authority.
Camila announced, "Your reward is the opportunity to select a member from Mr. William's group."
Seong sought clarification, "And we don't have to give anybody to Mr. William's group?"
Camila explained, "A person with an equal grade will be exchanged with the chosen person."
"So, if I choose Jin Ae, will I switch with her? She's the only other person in our group with a grade of 10," Seong inquired.
Camila clarified, "No, because you are the one making the choice. If there's no one with that grade, then it will be the next grade below."
Seong sought further information, "Do I get to decide who gets switched?"
Camila replied, "It's entirely your choice. We can either randomly pick from the list or let you pick."
Seong expressed his preference, "I would like to choose Jin Ae to join my group. As for the switch, I'm open to anyone except Amelie."
Camila inquired, "Have you developed a liking for that girl?"
Seong responded, "I wouldn't call it a liking, but she played a significant role in helping me achieve this grade. So, I'd like her to still be in Miss Hwa Young's group."
"Alright," Camila acknowledged, "Jin Ae, start packing your things. You'll be switched to Mrs. Hwa Young's group."
"Yes, Mrs. Camila," Jin Ae acknowledged, preparing to make the switch.
Camila dismissed them, saying, "You may both leave."
After they left, Camila mused to herself, " Daeshim he's just like you, so righteous."
Seong, sensing a potential concern, said to Jin Ae as they rode the elevator, "I hope you're not upset about me making you switch groups."
Jin Ae reassured him, "I would have done the same thing. There's no point in being mad when I have no affection for anyone in that group."
Seong added with a smile, "Let's hope you find some in this one."
As they stepped out of the elevator, Seong noticed Amelie sitting down. "Amelie, say hello to our new classmate," he suggested.
Amelie looked puzzled, "How is she our classmate?"
Seong proceeded to explain everything that transpired in the meeting after Amelie had left.
"Hello, I hope we crush that group," Amelie declared.
Jin Ae responded confidently, "Yes, we will."
"Seems like you two are getting along," Seong observed.
Amelie quipped, "When two people have the same enemy, they become best friends."
"That's true. I have a lecture in 30 minutes. See you later," Jin Ae informed as she left.
"I'll talk to you at tonight's party," Amelie said to Seong.
Perplexed, Seong inquired, "We have a party tonight?"
"Yeah, Miss Hwa Young is hosting it because we won the first assignment," Amelie shared.
Seong nodded, "That's good. I'll meet you there."
"Okay, bye," Amelie said.
"Bye," Seong replied.
Upon reaching the dorm, Seong announced, “I’m back."
Eun-Jeoung inquired, "What happened?"
Seong explained the reward he received and the new member joining their group. "Now they will have no chance of beating us," Eun-Jeoung remarked.
Seong added, "We didn't just exchange a scrub for a diamond; we gave them a 9 in return."
"true" Eun-Jeoung replied.
Seong said "i gonna to be phone till the party starts"
"Are you not going to change?" Eun-Jeoung questioned.
Seong responded, "We have a party tonight. Why would I do extra work?"
"Okay," Eun-Jeoung acknowledged.
