Chapter 44 - Unique Element: Void Spark

Chapter 44 - Unique Element: Void Spark

The death of Duke Alvarez ended the war of Storm Haven, the vampires took a heavy hit, losing both a baron and a duke, nearly 700 thousand of their ghouls were killed. But casualties weren’t light, thousands of players died, a majority of them were casual players that agreed to defend the walls.

A group of high-levelled vampires broke through gates, slaughtering hundreds of players before the elites could stop them. Kinuko had to work double time, healing hundreds upon hundreds of people, Ash Blade and the others managed to live through another day despite their terrible injuries.

But Silent Death turned into a vampire after Duke Alvarez sank his teeth into her neck. Despite her being a vampire, Narukami refrained her from taking her life. “I don’t care if you’re a vampire, as long as you’re Jironian, you’ll follow my orders and serve me!”

It took a few days for Storm Haven to go back to normal, Narukami and the others immediately underwent intense training, all moving to random parts of the realm to train as much as they could. Gentle Sun continued under the tutelage of Sojobo, Narukami and Lightning Prince trained with Zenkibo, sounds of fighting always sounded from the room they were in.

Han Ling himself had to test out his abilities, hence he stood on the mountains, dark clouds forming above him, arcs of purple lightning slamming down randomly. He unfurled his wings, sensing the powerful mana inside them.

He checked his abilities on Void Spark.

Han Ling gaped openly, “T-T-This is basically cheating at this point…”

Even then it wasn’t unheard of for others to create elements, the pope of the Holy Empire was the first to create the element of holiness decree, a basic powerhouse against undead creatures. Despite that, Void Spark was a cheat element, the silence affects would be devastating to mages and magic wielding players. Still… the one factor that Han Ling would find troublesome was the magic attack.

Despite wielding powerful magic skills, Han Ling never really focused on his magic damage, that was an issue…

Still, it wasn’t an impossible one, Han Ling knew of a set of armour that would greatly increase his magic damage, as well as his attack. But getting that armour was trouble on its own, and problem for another day. Han Ling proceeded to dump all his basic points into magic attack, raising it all the way to 310.

A bit of testing would never hurt…

With that Han Ling closed his eyes raised both hands. A buzz sounded and a low hum filled the air, he breathed in… more than a dozen glowing purple orbs appeared around him, spinning around him like planets orbiting the sun, then he breathed out…

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM!

Han Ling pointed towards the mountain, and it exploded into a cloud of rubble, purple lighted the world, the thunderous roars of explosions sounded throughout the mountain range. He opened his eyes, and saw the carnage he had caused, where a tall stone mountain once stood, was now replaced with charred, blackened bits and pieces of tumbling boulders.

This… its just a simple attack and yet it could reduce an entire mountain to rubble…

Han Ling felt a trickle of sweat run down his back, even he felt afraid of his own power. With the new wings, he felt the sense of mana much better than before. It’s like he gained a new set of eyes, ears and nose. But the most prominent one was the sense of mana, allowing him to feel the presence behind him before he even spoke.

“That’s quite the power…” Han Ling turned to find the white-robed man with a white fan in his right hand. “Head Chief Sojobo. Thank you for sending the goblins back, it would have been impossible to survive with both the goblins and vampires invading Storm Haven.”

Sojobo waved the fan, “It is my duty to help my allies, think nothing of it.” He glanced at those black wings, “What wonderful wings… they are much better than my own. Then again, I am not the chosen of the Void.” That last phrase spoke with a hint of sadness, caused Han Ling to widen his eyes.

“Head Chief, what do you know of the void?” Sojobo walked towards the edge of the mountain, “All I know is it’s a power capable of crushing gods, an element that would be forbidden to anyone save the chosen.” He stared at Han Ling, “Know the void is a lonely place, a quiet place, but loneliness and silence go hand in hand.” He waved his fan gently, voice full of wistfulness, “When you became strong enough, I will tell you as much as I know of the void, it is too early for you to know about it…”

Han Ling quietly listened, trying to piece the puzzles from his previous life’s knowledge. One question kept coming up, “Why did a unique elemental book turn into a forbidden one? Was that luck? Or was I chosen?” Sojobo’s laugh interrupted his train of thought. “Do not try to guess the heavens, it will only cause confusion to deepen.” He patted Han Ling’s shoulder, “In the meantime, don’t you have to send us to meet our goddess?”

The teen gasped, “I’m terribly sorry, I have forgotten of my mission…” Sojobo laughed heartily, “It is not a problem, you have been stuck in that trance for a month, it’s understandable.” Then his expression turned serious, “What will you do now?” Han Ling stared back at the Tengu, “We would need to prepare a navy capable of sinking hundreds of ships.”

Sojobo’s eyebrows rose, “And why is that?” “I have a gift with foresight, when I woke, I saw the approaching enemy numbering in hundreds of millions, powerful and dangerous. They will appear along with a small island, and they would bring their warships into this world. We would need warships of the same strength to keep them in check…”

The Head Chief listened, “If what you say is true… all life will cease to exist with that kind of army.” Han Ling inwardly let out a cold laugh, counting the numbers of calamities that sprung on the world, he gave up after 12, despair washing over him. “It might… Head Chief.”

The wind always tasted sweet on Sojobo’s tongue, but he found a bitter taste on the wind he tasted on that day, and the sweet taste would never exist again…

“I have one more thing to tell you before we go…”

Han Ling stared at the Tengu expectantly.

“The Kyofu No Kakashi has started moving…”

Han Ling instinctively flinched, “The Fearcrow?!” his eyes were wide, his hands shaking slightly as cold sweat burst throughout his body. “H-He’s awake? Will he attack Jiron?”

Sojobo looked at him strangely, “You seem to know it, yet you don’t understand it… how did you obtain the Eyes of Kuebiko?” He proceeded to explain the system rewards and Sojobo had his eyebrows raised, a hint of understanding in his eyes, “Ahhh I see… well its not a bad think,” Han Ling nearly spat out blood.

“The Fearcrow isn’t a bad thing?” His tone was incredulous, but there was a reason for Han Ling’s drastic reaction. The Scarecrow was Kuebiko’s symbol of knowledge, even with his perfect knowledge of the universe, he would be unable to spread it as he is forced to take the form of a scarecrow. But when he leaves the realm of mortals, his scarecrow runs rampant, creating havoc all over the realm of monster.

That monster was supposed to wake a year from now, destroying numerous cities in its path, including the mighty Prehistoric Knights. In fact, the Tengu themselves suffered a crushing defeat from the Fearcrow, losing the battle and nearly losing the lives of dozens of their brethren.

Sojobo should know this, as one of the Realm of Monster’s ‘Old Monsters’ he would be hard pressed to even hold that bastard off, yet he doesn’t think it’s a bad thing? What bullshit is that?!

The Head Chief gave the teen an incredulous look, “You really don’t know a thing about Kyofu No Kakashi, do you?” Han Ling only shook his head. “He is looking for it’s master, the one who possesses the Eyes of his master…” It was as if a truck hit his head, “It’s looking for me? The Fearcrow??” Sojobo gave the teen an exasperated sigh, “Yes! You are the only one who has the Eye of Kuebiko, and with those eyes, you gain control of Kuebiko’s sacred scarecrow. The Kyofu No Kakashi.”

Han Ling felt dizzy, happiness, relief, adrenaline all pumped into his head, concocting a drink of disbelief. Yet he managed to ask a clear question, “How do you know this?”

“There was a prophecy the Kyofu No Kakashi predicted himself…

Eyes of gold shall return to power.

Then I, Kyofu No Kakashi shall return.

Enemies shall cower.

For nations I shall overturn.

Han Ling couldn’t help but shudder slightly, “For nations I shall overturn… he definitely did that when he woke…” Yet, he felt a undisguised sense of relief, “He had to find the Fearcrow, to tame it and make it an ally in the upcoming wars…”
