Chapter 22 - Goblin General

Chapter 22 - Goblin General

“Tanks gather in front! Range players hit it with everything you’ve got!” Xue Er barked out her orders and the organized Chinese team got into place. 4 tanks stood at the front, glowing shields appearing in front of them. The archers and mages all attacked, arrows and energy bullets littered the air, aiming straight for a horde of Goblins. Goblin after Goblin fell from the rain of projectiles, those small critters screaming and squealing like pigs.

“Close range fighters, charge forwards! Range players cover support!” Xue Er leaped towards the goblins and held her a large Dao twice her size, even then she effortlessly swung the blade in a cone area. A flash of sword energy burst forward, turning goblins into strings of flesh. Han Ling only took one look to know it was a Serene Silver weapon, fitting for one of the top hunters of China.

Soon, a total of 12 close range fighters leaped into the fight, spears slicing the air, fists breaking bones, swords cutting flesh. 29 players entered this one dungeon, as China was quite understaffed, they had to rely on lower levelled players to help. The B-rank dungeon Goblin Den was a field type dungeon hence at least 25 players were needed.

The Japanese players shined in the battle, with Kinuko healing the injured almost immediately after their health dropped. Shiki fired energyl orbs again and again, supporting the close range players efficiently. Karin however followed Atsushi, covering his back while he rampaged on the poor goblins.

But Han Ling only watched the fight, occasionally slicing a goblin that approached in half. He observed the fights with a hint of respect and admiration in his eyes. Even in the future, China would be a powerful force, even surpassing the US when it came to dungeon diving. Their discipline and teamwork were crucial to their battles and Xue Er was a great leader.

GUOHHH!

“Ah…finally.” Han Ling looked past the horde of goblins and saw a much bigger, muscular goblin in armour approaching the humans. It was twice the size of a human, towering over the goblins like adults to children. A dozen armoured goblins at human height followed the giant goblin, like knights guarding a king. Xue Er noticed the large goblin and took a ready stance, raising her Dao with both hands.

When the Goblin got close enough its stats were shown to everyone.

[LVL 43 Goblin General]

Xue Er paled slightly at the level but still held her ground. She stomped one foot into the ground, creating a web of cracks on the earth. She spun with that one leg and her Dao spun around her. With a loud battle cry she slammed her blade down, a powerful blade energy slashed the ground travelling straight at the Goblin general.

The goblin’s face twitched, and it casually stomped the ground, creating a shockwave that cancelled out Xue Er’s sword wave. Xue Er’s face became even whiter, her mind reeling with disbelief. The Goblin general stared at the woman before his mouth spread into a terrible grin, his lust reaching Xue Er almost immediately.

A terrible chill crawled down Xue Er’s spine, yet she still held her Dao tightly, bringing it up to face the general. The latter saw this, and the grin widened. Cracking the ground, the Goblin General dashed towards the swordswoman, grabbing a sword as large as Xue Er’s Dao from his back. The general swung his blade down and Xue Er reacted with a upwards slash.

Both swords collided and sparks flew off their blades, but Xue Er was pushed back, her hand numb from the impact. The general made a strange sound, as if it was laughing at the woman. Anger welled up and Xue Er spun on the spot, her Dao slicing towards the goblin’s neck.

But the Goblin Lord easily stepped back, forcing Xue Er to lose balance, staggering slightly before falling on all fours. Despair filled her heart, she was incapable of defeating this general. As she waited for the Goblin General to grab her a sudden silence befell on the battle.

Xue Er’s first thought was that all the players were already dead, but when she looked up. A man was standing in front of her, a beautiful white blade in his hand. She looked further up, and realized it was the masked man from the Japanese players. But what was he doing? And then she realized the Goblin General was stepping away from the human, sweat running down his face, face as pale as a green could get.

Han Ling’s eyes were furiously cold under the mask, an enormous amount of killing intent permeated the air. It wasn’t even a skill, yet he had scared all the goblins for a few seconds. The goblin general composed himself before swinging his blade at the human with a roar.

With a flick of a finger, a red shield appeared in front of him, and the general flew back the moment his sword clashed with the shield. At the sight of a human able to send a monster of that level flying, Xue Er gaped openly, disbelief washed over her face.

Han Ling then spoke in perfect Chinese, “I’ll take the goblin general, deal with the others.” With that he walked straight to the body of the general.

The general shook his head, trying to shake the dizziness off, when he saw the human walking towards him. For the first time, he felt threatened and raised his sword again. A greenish glow coated the Goblin General and Han Ling raised an eyebrow. As expected of a level 43 boss, he knows a few skills.

Too bad it’ll be useless…

[Blood Dance]

[Six Blood Forms: 1st form. Red Burst]

Nine red sabres sprouted from the ruby and hovered around the swordsman. Both sides stared at one another before rushing forward. Their swords clashed and shock appeared on the general’s face, for the first time, something actually blocked his full powered strike. Normally, the enemy would have been sliced in half, or at least their weapon was destroyed, but no, Han Ling’s sword held firm.

The general sensed danger and leaped back just in time to dodge the red sabres slashing down. But even while retreating the general swung his sword decisively, parrying the approaching red sabres. But with every few sabres he parried, the human was pounce on him, pushing him back with every strike.

Both sides battled, but the goblin general was obviously losing, every time Han Ling attacked, the blood sabres will land a few hits on the General. The general couldn’t fight back as the red sabres would always keep him occupied. It was one of the reasons why Bloody Baron’s Blade was a cheat weapon for 1 v 1s, the enemy wasn’t just fighting the player, but also the nine blood sabres…

It didn’t take long for the Goblin General to fall on its knees, head lowered and breathing ragged. Han Ling has his sword pointed at the Goblin General’s neck, ready to stab at any time. He scanned the battlefield, satisfied that the humans were pushing the goblins back with no casualties.

Han Ling didn’t hesitate and sliced off the general’s head.

The goblins all scattered, having no will to continue the fight. While the humans cheered at the victory, Han Ling wordlessly waited, collecting his contribution rewards before walking up to Xue Er. As he approached the woman’s relieved face turned solemn, as Han Ling stood in front of her, he then spoke in perfect Chinese, “As I have shown my abilities, may I ask for a favour?”

Xue Er was slightly startled at the perfect Chinese but recomposed herself almost instantly, “As you have saved all of us, it is only right for me to repay you with a favour as long as its reasonable.” Xue Er bowed slightly and replied in a very courteous manner. Han Ling silently stared at her for a while. “Do you considered what I’m about to say next as reasonable? I would like to…”
