SS: One lost, Another on the way

That was a day i shall forever remember. I had gone out to the fields to begin the day's work trying to keep myself busy. Moms announcement last night had been met with mixed reactions. Don’t get me wrong i’m overjoyed at the thought of getting a new baby brother or sister but our aunt coming! Even Fraxia wasn’t thrilled about it and it’s Fraxia were talking about. The little monster could jump off a cliff and come out of it smiling like it was her birthday.

The day after that Fraxia shows up with some guy claiming to be our long lost uncle. Mom was OK with him so i thought about giving him the benefit of the doubt, mom can’t be wrong about this guy right? He made a bunch of mistakes in the beginning but i promised myself i would give him the benefit of the doubt. But that day i wish i hadn’t.

I had gotten back from working in the fields that afternoon and found our uncle sitting around on the couch sleeping with Fraxia nowhere in sight.

“Hey wake up.” i shook him.

“Ugh. 5 more minutes.” he said drowsily.

“Come on, wake up. Where's my sister?”

“Hmmm? Oh her. Yeah she ditched me again. Dunno where she went though. Eh she probably will be back later.” he said turning over to go back to sleep.

That didn’t make any sense. Fraxia always comes back from the forest before sunset because she doesn’t like getting caught in the forest at night. She should have been  back over an hour ago. Maybe she’s going over time because she got a late start this morning due to ditcher our uncle?

I waited a few hours but then i started getting worried. Our parents had come back and found that one of their girls was missing. Father scrambled the guards and pulled jack along to search. I told them what i knew but fibbed and told them she went to the forest to play instead of hunt and practice her magic and fighting skills. Our parents don’t need to know their youngest daughter goes to the forest to fight magic beasts and screw around with fireballs and who knows what else.

After 2 days of searching we were forced to give up. Many of the magic Beasts in the forest had

gotten oddly violent and territorial resulting in the deaths of several guardsman. I thought maybe she was lost in the woods somewhere and i wish i was right. My father had hired some adventurers to go and search the forest for any trace of Fraxia but what they came back with… It was a canvas bag like one you would go hunting with and written inside was Fraxia’s name. They said they had found it in the forest surrounded by Boar prints, most likely from a stampede. They say her chances of surviving in the exceedingly violent forest were slim to none and it was accepted that she had died and been eaten by a Magic beast.

Father told everyone in the village personally to keep quiet about it from mother and me since she was in her 2nd month of pregnancy. He told her that they couldn’t find her but what most likely happened was that she was lured into the forest by pixies somewhere in the area, and that they would put out posters of her in the adventurer guilds to keep a look out. Wouldn't be the first time that a pixie lured a child into the forest, but sometimes the pixies guided them back out of the forest so they could have fun with them again. But i knew she was dead. She always had a reckless attitude and i just knew that it had finally cost her. The kicker was, the man i had given the benefit of the doubt was responsible for losing my sister. And for that I hate him.
