In the beginning there was nothing. Most would portray this as a dark abyss but without light there is no darkness so there was no darkness. But it would not stay like this for long. There was no concept of time nor space but in that moment a crack appeared splashing light across the void and thus the untamed light and darkness, elements  from another universe, descended into the void. From the crack in the void a pair of phantasmal scales appeared with two beings wearing decorative masks on either side.

They raised arms in unison and clapped sending forth a wave of chaos that engulfed the newly created light and darkness. The two entities retrieved something from beyond the crack and broke it into many small pieces. They cast the pieces far and wide into the swirl of light and darkness and retreated back into the crack sealing it behind them. The chaos, light and darkness boiled and wreathed. The light sought to overwhelm the darkness and the darkness dull the light while chaos did nothing. This fight between forces from another world continued on for eons and in this time unnoticed by the light and darkness the chaos had been busy. Unlike the other two who fought with the instinct to eliminate the other he had developed the first conscious in this newly filled void.

“I am” the chaos said as the sound of the first words echoed across the void.

The light and darkness paid him no heed and as they were busy trying to consumer each other. The mysterious masked being had filled the light and darkness with an everlasting need to eliminate each other and chaos was just something born of their interference with a void. The chaos felt none of the urge to consume the light or darkness and spent his time making things. Carefully planning how to construct things like stars, gravity and even going as far as to take parts of the light and darkness who had hacked at each other with their given power. With a shining piece of light he created the first star and had the thought to refer to his creations and label them. The star he named Asruup, the beginning. With the fragment of darkness he created created the first soul and named it Zanan, the end. The first star had been a huge success and provided more light than the light the battling entity could ever have and the souls ten fold stronger than the pieces of essence he had made them from.

Ever since the chaos had been creating things the two had been fighting nonstop. Chaos had designed himself a workshop of sorts separated from the two enemies and called it a new dimension in hopes of preventing the two destructive forces from destroying his delicate creations. As time passed chaos grew more and more fond of his creations and even created new dimensions to test them out. The light and darkness had moved their fight all around the void dimension of their universe and had discovered many of the places where the space was split to allow the chaos to move back and forth between dimensions.

Taking the strides in going through the split seams of space they had arrived in one of the dimensions inhabited by the chao’s favorite creations. The two after observing these beautiful and intricate creations had gained intelligence themselves and had realized that they had fallen prey to the two mysterious masked beings intentions. The chaos on the other hand had taken their essence and used it to do what neither of them could, but being creations of high entities such as the two shining figures they had been given much more by those broken shards the figures had thrown into the void than just the instinct to fight. The wrath they felt in the seeing their essence taken for someone else's glory. They could never hope to create something as amazing as what the chaos did and in their envy stole away with much of the creations the chaos had made.

Darkness had taken the stars after seeing their power and radiance while the light had taken the souls upon seeing how much potential they had. The two had taken their spoils back to the void were they had fought for eons and began playing with them. Darkness although he couldn’t create the same intricate and dazzling masterpieces the chaos had he managed to create several lesser, more varied versions and despite this fact had been proud of it. The light had taken the souls and watched from afar the darkness create his star. The light was a very prideful and felt that he must surpass the darkness and show the darkness that it could do an even better job at mimicking the chaos. As a result the light had gone a step further and taken pieces of essence from around his section of the universe and made his being smaller than the star but more far more powerful creating the first divine beings. Unfortunately neither of them knew how to name their creations as the chaos had.

The two had remembered the workshop filled with many many more creations of the chaos. They knew if they got more of the creations of the chaos then they would be more powerful and possibly fulfill the one instinct the mysterious masked beings had given them, overwhelm each other and consume each other. More and more they went back to the workshop and stole more and more unable to satisfy their ever growing appetite for entertainment and power their greed and gluttony insatiable.

While this all transpired the chaos had arrived back from collecting some of the fragments the two shining beings had thrown into the void and upon seeing his favorite possessions stolen flew into a rage. Deducing what had happened he took took to his workshop and with the broken fragments and sought to take his revenge in the worst way possible. After many millennia of observing the two fight he knew their limits and their strengths better than they did themselves. The power of the fragments was something even he did not completely understand nor anyone would ever completely understand. As much as he had tried the fragments still remained a mystery and all he managed to figure out was that they were the answer as to why the two beings had filled this void.

What the chaos did understand though was that he could use the fragments and empower his creations. It was one of the malicious attributes of the fragments he wanted to take advantage of. Taking all of his fragments and all of the essence of light and darkness he had he tried his best to create a weapon that surpassed himself. At once he realized that in order to surpass himself he would need to give some of himself. He took the uncompleted weapon and cut out a piece of his essence that he may add it to the weapon. As soon as he added his essence he knew that the completed blade was perfect for what he had schemed.

The chaos descended into the lower void where the light and darkness resided. The two he been so preoccupied that they had not even fought with each other and had been busy playing with their “creations”.

“Oh little ones of light and darkness. Won’t you come and play.” he called out through the void.

The two froze and looked up to find the high being they had stolen from smiling at them. They held no remorse for their theft and even had the foolish thought that they could beat the chaos and claim all he owned.

“Come come little things. I see you have created many things. I want to make a wager with you.” he said temptingly.

The light and darkness had thought they had this in the bag. The two hurriedly agreed and brought the first creations they had ever made believing them to be superior than what the chaos could bring. As soon as the chaos brought out his incredible sword they other two looked at it greedily and like moths to a flame fell for the chaos’s plan.

“Alright here's the game. We are going to spontaneously make our best creations and races them over there and back.” he said pointing to a small moon he created just now.

The two were awed at his ability to create such an object without a single thought when they had taken several hundred years to come up with. Unfortunately this just made them want it even more.

“We accept.” they said.

The three brought out their fastest creations and set them down at the starting line marked by stars. The light and darkness felt indignation to see their essence being used in this way and swore to return the feeling a thousand fold. The light had brought out a special type of Divine being that could free time and modify the space to move in an instant allowing him to win the race. This of course was the first god of Time and space, however to the light it was just an empty shell to use for his victory. The darkness had brought out one of his favorite creations. A moving black hole that could suck up the light’s Divine being and trap it there forever allowing him to win the race.

Contrary to the other two the chaos brought out a simple creation of his. Instead of all the meticulous planning he usually did when creating something he wanted to try what his cretors, the two mysterious entities, had done. Even though he wasn’t smart enough to have his own conscience back then he did remember. Many times did he wonder what his creators were thinking just tossing a few elements together at random and leaving. The creature he had created was smaller than the nameless black hole that the darkness had created but more powerful than the divine being the light had made. He called it the dragon, a force strong enough to devour gods and eat black holes. Of course his intention wasn’t too beat down the two, oh no his intention was much worse.

“Read, set, GO!” the chaos said.

The three creatures took off like streaks of starlight with the divine being of time in the lead, the black hole in 2nd and the dragon in 3rd. The time divine being skipped ahead of the black hole teleporting rapidly and the black hole in turn kept trying to suck in and trap the little god. The black hole could not trap the time god because it would just teleport out preventing it from getting ahead and the black hole could not get ahead because the time god kept slowing time around the black hole making it go slower. The dragon on the other hand stayed close behind the two never taking the lead but pressuring the two to go faster.

“Halfway point, oh thats right. Where are my manners. I said this would be a wager and yet i have not brought out my wager.” he said pulling out the unique sword he had made earlier.

The light and darkness saw this blade and felt the aura it released and redoubled their efforts to make this sword theirs. The three creations rounded the small moon and began their journey back. The time god and the black hole jostled for the first position but oddly enough the dragon stayed back. The light and darkness assumed that the dragon could not catch up and one of them would be the victor thus they put the dragon out of their mind and concentrated on making it the finish line first.

When there was only a few million light years left in between them and the finish line the dragon suddenly had a huge burst of speed and the light and darkness fear that it would overtake them and win but what happened next confused them. The dragon knocked into the light and darknesses creations and sent them bursting forward into the finish line ahead of it.

“Aww, i guess i have poor luck. But to the victor goes the spoils.” the chaos said bring forth the blade.

“Thats right. To the victor goes the spoils which naturally be me.” the light said pridefully.

“How dare, obviously it was me who crossed the finish line first!” the darkness called out.

“Oh dear oh dear. Looks like we have ourselves a problem as there is only one of my blades and two of you. Well it’s none of my business, so here's the blade and i do hope you sort this out so that both of you are happy.” the chaos says slinking away into a different dimension.

The chaos left the void and returned to his workshop. He had just stepped into the workshop when he felt a strange energy flow throughout the universe.

“Hahaha, guess they got down to business quicker than i thought they would.” the chaos laughed.

Back in the void the light and darkness were fighting once more. The two grappled with the sword in between them vying for control. The moment the two had touched the sword the curse that the chaos had placed on it activated increasing their anger and power beyond what they could ever have possibly reached. The two wrestled for control over the sword sometimes one getting lucky and taking control over the sword for a second and slicing the other. Pretty soon they were both leaking their primal light and darkness which was their equivalent of lifeblood. The sword sent out a signal and notified the chaos that the two were near destruction. He quickly went back to the void and stood above the thieves.

“So you gained the knowledge needed to recognize that my creations were amazing and the first instinct you had was to make it your own. I have created and received the greatest creation in this small universe and you two received it by my will, the power of self awareness. It was i allowed you to learn and grow and yet you both wanted more and sought to make what is mine yours!” the chaos bellowed.

The light and darkness were both near fading now as their lifeblood left their beings. They could not think straight as they clutched the sword that had been their downfall. The greatest revenge the chaos could ever have was taking away the thing that they had liked the most, their self control and by extension control over their instinct to eliminate each other.

“And i think once you have passed i will adopt your creations and take your essence so i may study it. There are many things i wish to try with it.” he said eyeing their fading bodies.

He strode forward and took the sword in his hands, deactivating the curse. He studied the blade a moment before ramming it through darkness cutting it into two and ending its existence.

“That doesn’t mean i won’t get my hands dirty though.” he said smiling at the halves of darkness.

The light had regained some of his thought after the chaos had taken the sword from his grasp and could think straight. He understood now what the chaos had said and was angry at the chaos but more at himself. He swore that any creation made from his body or darknesses would always hunt the chaos and that the creations of chaos would never be accepted by either the light or dark for all eternity. The irony that the first curse magic ever created would be made by the Primordial of Light.

The chaos finished off the light and collected the fragments, essence and a small amount of their lifeblood and left. But once again the universe had other plans and absorbed the lifeblood. The void had never accepted the existence of the light, darkness or chaos and had always been trying to get rid of them like a body fighting an infection that it could never hope to overcome. Now that the two had faded and could no longer resist the void their lifeblood was thrown out but instead of entering one of the dimension the chaos had created, it stretched around many of the dimensions changing some of the creatures inside and some not even reaching them. This would one day be called the Aether, the ocean of magic in which all things exist.

Chaos did not mind, in fact he welcomed the the strange energy that had mixed with HIS creations and adopted creations. As for the rest of the universe. He found that from the results of from when he created the dragon that instead of meticulously planning it would be better to just let nature take its course and sit back and enjoy the show as the universe grew. Some of it was amazing others terrible and wicked. He didn’t mind as the bad creations made the good ones all the more eye catching and appealing.

With the rest of the fragments he caste into the universe and essence he cast into the universe, some dimensions receiving this and becoming even more amazing and some going unnoticed for long amounts of time. There were many creations that the light and darkness created and all flawed in some way. Instead of destroying them he mixed them in with his own creations which made the universe all the more unique.

For as long as he had existed he had been searching for a meaning to his existence. The light had been bright and the darkness had been dark but the chaos had never had such given to him by the mysterious beings with masks. He had always just been a product of the circumstances at the time until now after looking across all of creations.

“My purpose is to shake the universe up and see what comes out.”
