The gate opened and a dragon of some sort was standing inside. It was tall almost 6 meters tall, green skin like a lizard, a long slithery tail, a pair of wings like bats, talons as big as long as i was tall, and a bony frill on its face. Thankfully it was sleeping and the opening of the rusty gates hadn’t awakened it. We were about to sneak away when the gates banged against the walls.

“”Oh fucking come on!!”” we both said.

The dragon like thing opened its eyes and saw us and squinted with its beady red eyes. It got up and roared revealing a mouth full of yellowing teeth and sending a wave of spit into our faces. Whatever it is, it’s unlike any dragon I've ever seen or heard of.  I hurriedly used inspect on it to find out about it.

Jabberwocky LV600

Skill level is insufficient for further information.

I shivered and the other me’s face went pale. Yep, she saw it too.

Level 600!! According to Kyanu that's the same as a lesser dragon! I knew we were not ready to face such a foe and to boot my skill level is too low to find out anything else. I told them it takes weeks to prepare and many many people to conquer a dungeon, but nooo nobody seems to listen...even though there was three of me when i said this.

“Maybe it’s like the mirror and shatters easy. So... the usual plan?!” i said which usually changed depending on the situation.

“Duh.” said other me as she took a flying leap at the jabberwocky.

She hit it in the snout with a massive BOOM and the castle shook. However the dragon was barely phased by it. The dragon gave us a toothy grin and before we had any time to react a wave of pure sound bellowed forth from its maw sending me and other me flying while we tried in vain to cover our ears. When the wave passed it left behind an echo of cackling laughter. I felt that if i was a regular person and didn’t have such a high INT stat i would have gone mad.

The wave had blasted the walls of the castle apart and fragmented into thousands of reflective shards. I got up and my head was spinning and my ears were bleeding. The dragon's roar had blown apart the gate and portcullis leaving nothing in its wake. Other me was currently also getting up and reorienting herself when the jabberwocky swung its tail ultimately missing me but one of the spikes got a superficial hit on me that sent me flying. I tumbled over and over hitting the grounds until i smacked into the wall.

Pain wrecked my body and i nearly passed out. I didn’t need body probe to tell that i broke several things but thankfully with my new VIT i should survive, i think. The whole world was blurry but i couldn’t miss the giant lizard slowly approaching when other me gave a shout, ambushed the jabberwocky with a blazing fist from behind and hit it square between the eyes stunning it momentarily. I received a notification but was too out of it to care.

She was activating both Speed Boost LV6(Active/Passive) and Beastly Shift LV3(Active/Passive), and since both buffs stacked plus we had been dashing around for an hour now using Speed boost the gains were quite good.

Stacking. A common RPG strategy that allows one to increase their power exponentially by placing multiple buffs on a single person. Some games had a limit to how many buffs you could stack on a character or rules to what did stack and what overwrote the previous buffs, but in real life there was no hard limit.

I had previously stayed away from trying to develop body buffing spells but there was always the looming threat of accidentally messing up and blowing up said body part. However with my new stats in magical stats i am considering trying to creating more buffing skills.

The dragon was not going to be stunned for long. My HP read 150/3000 and i shivered. Its tail didn’t even graze me and yet i wound up with such frightening damage, no doubt about it if i had taken a direct hit i would have died on the spot. Other me rushed over while the dragon was still stunned.

“We have to go!” she shouted scooping me up in a princess carry.

We were about to leave when the Jabberwocky righted itself and bellowed in rage in our direction. The air charged with mana and the dragon opened its maw once more and a dark light filled its throat and we both had a sense of immense danger.

“Off the platform!” i scream.

Thankfully she understood and dived off the ruined wall into the moat filled with blood. The wall behind us exploded, a bright light filled the sky and the bloody moat boiled. The Jabberwocky’s roar could be heard as we were swept away by a current taking us around the castle. We came to a sewer opening and uncontrollably plunged over a waterfall of red, hit the bottom and we both passed out.

When i came too i was lying in a pool of blood(Hopefully not my own) staring up at a brick ceiling. I raised my head to look around to discover that we were in some sort of sewer and other me was still clinging onto me with a deathgrip. She was freezing and so was i with a realization. We probably smelled bad but i was too busy to care; we needed to get warmed up quick. I know that some beastmen are more resistant to cold than humans but even that has limits.

“Wake up! Come on Wake up!” I tried to shake the girl on top of me awake.

She wouldn’t wake no matter how much i shook her. I imagine she took the brunt of the attack from the Jabberwocky since she was on top of me the whole time shielding me, and since she didn’t deactivate Beastly Shift LV3(Active) and i imagine that it sucked her mana pool dry giving her Mental Strain.

Mental Strain. A condition where a magic caster has drained the maximum capacity of the their mana pool without replacing it. It weakens the user of the spell and depending on the amount of magic used it can either result in anything from a headache to putting one in a coma for years. I just hope it wasn’t the later. I’m used to conducting big amounts of magical energy so i can only hope that she is not out of it for years and only hours, but the point remains unfortunately. She won’t be awake for a while and were in unfamiliar territory.

After many weak attempts i manage to slip out of other me’s grip and get into a sitting position. Next i check my menu to see what happened.

Status: Fatigued, Enfeeble, Internal Bleeding, Hypothermia(Adolescent)

I used Inspect LV1(Active) on some of my debuffs and found myself in a grim situation.

Fatigued

A sense of exhaustion covers you making you weaker.

Enfeeble

A weakness in your limbs has developed.

Internal Bleeding

An urgent bleeding on the inside of the body.

Hypothermia

An abnormally low body temperature sapping your energy.

It looks bad but i need to get us warm quick. First priority is to get a fire going and get us out of these frozen clothes then we can treat our wounds. Fire isn’t hard, but in this situation there isn’t much to burn. I was looking around to see if there was anything i could burn when i hear the sound of footsteps right around the corner.

I take precautions and prepare a fireball. As the steps get closer and closer i realize there are multiple sets of footsteps. With my good animal hearing i can hear other things as well which prompt me to make me fireball bigger.  A clatter of something, the trademark sound of metal shifting indicating they are armed, and more and more clattering? They round the corner and i am faced with 4 skeletons.

White bones and red armor with flamboyant markings cover my field of vision as i stare at the skeletons and they stare back. They stare down at me, probably expecting me to scream, and i stare up at them, waiting for them to make the first move, until one of them chatters to another and the swings his Ax down at me.

I block with my arms and the Ax bounces off but unfortunately my aim when i released the fireball was screwed up sending it into the wall opposite of us. With my STR and VIT i doubt normal weapons made from rusty iron and steel could pierce my skin. I grab the handle and wrench it away from the skeleton sending him tumbling into the river of blood. I chop off the legs of the skeletons and pound their skulls into dust.

Next from behind me i hear more sounds and i turn to find a few zombies shuffling towards us hearing my scuffle with the skeletons. I gab other me in a princess carry like she did and run down the passage from where the skeletons came from losing the zombies. I ran looking for an exit when i run into a large chamber filled with water. The river of blood me and other me came in on is nowhere to be seen, instead large pipes of freezing dirty water come flowing in from above making me think that we are beneath the castle.

The room has several large pipes big enough to walk in gushing out water by the tons. The flows from the different pipes meet in the center of the chamber where a skeleton 5 meters tall stood in the middle of a pool. The skeleton turned and i got a full view of him. White bones covered by large amounts of decorated crimson plate mail, several swords at his sides and 4 skeletal arms with a skull covered in full face mask helmet with red light coming from within.

He turns towards me and draws all four of his swords. I set down other me and prepare to fight. I caste Inspect on him and find out more.

I can’t see much but i can see his health, mana and titles and frankly that's enough for me. I quickly caste caste Fireball LV6 thrice and i heard the ding signifying the skill had leveled up, bout time. The fireballs hit the skeleton three out of three but were ultimately repelled by his armor. The skeleton tries to hit me with his four swords but can’t seem to land a hit thanks to buffing my speed. Even in a weakened state he can’t hit me.

I leap over his head and strike with Lightning Bolt shocking the water that the skeleton stands in. The water electrifying and sends a crackling sound across the water as the skeleton...does nothing? Then i remember my lesson on Undead with Kyanu.

“Skeletons are one of the best undead for their rank! They posses the tirelessness ability that all undead have but they also have Elemental resistances to Water, Wind, Lightning and Darkness. They also posses the ability to resist Slashing, Piercing and Stabbing attacks so the only effective means against them are Holy, Fire, and Blunt type attacks. Unlike Zombies they are fast, and unlike ghosts they can use weapons making them the best Undead of their rank!” she had told me one night during our studies.

Damn, Ultimately if we keep this up it’s going to be the skeletons victory with his tireless  power and my weakened state. I am about to flee when i remember the useless ability i have never used sitting in my Skills list. A present from the goddess that i never used. The skeleton turns to face me when i use Grave Talker LV1(Active)

“Wait, I mean you no harm. I just wish to find a place to rest with my friend.” I say to the skeleton.

The undead tils its head as if confused. It appears he is about to attack when a strange wind sweeps over the place and a the skeleton turns his head as if lending his ear to someone unseen. After the moment passes he stands up straight and sheathes his four swords. Suddenly behind him in the waterfall a door opens parting the waterfall and green torches set themselves alight, lighting a path into a long corridor.

The undead skeleton looks to me, nods and steps out of the way. Consumed with weariness and fatigue I pick up Other me and trudge past the skeleton, his eyes flashing bright as i walk past, and into the corridor beyond. I turn back for a moment and look at the skeleton.

“Thank you.” I say to him.

I turn and lugging Other me, walk straight down into the dark descending path.
