If you're reading this for the first time I would like to take a moment and say the first few chapters are going to be lower quality that the rest of what I post. I am planning on revamping the chapters as soon as I get a chance so please read on.

Fate sucks

It's true, ever since I can remember I have always gotten the short end of the stick in life. I’m lying on the ground right now in a pool of my own blood thinking about how my life could have gone a different way. I can hear the sirens all around me while people desperately try to claw at the rubble of the broken down building. My genius sister, you may have heard of her, Rene Chandra, 5’7 with light brown eyes, midnight black hair and a smile that could charm the devil himself. Scientist extraordinaire, 2 time Nobel prize winner not to mention every guy's fantasy crush, I could see was being wheeled away on a gurney, accompanied by two official looking people in black suits and reflective glasses through a crack in the rubble, a little dinged up maybe but she looked fine. The project she had been working on had been sabotaged by some goons that stormed into the Gala hall. They came storming into the hall carrying Ak-47’s, I could tell because I knew that gun like the back of my hand and had actually built my own if it wasn't for the cops who came by to see what the explosion from my failed gunpowder was about. The reactor they were talking about was in a display case in the middle of the hall and was something my sister had spent years testing and working on. It was the size of a brick and was supposedly generated enough power to power a small city for 2 years before more fuel had to be used, however unlike conventional nuclear reactors this one was cheaper to build and was portable making it ideal for military use.

When Swat came in guns blazing apparently they all had rigged themselves with C4 yelling if their employer could not have the reactor, the no one could while pulling the trigger. My sister was about to be blown to bit when I managed to push her out the window into the harbor below.

As I lay the wonder what would become of my sister. Our parents died in a car crash when we were both young, none of our relatives were willing to take us in so we ended up living as foster kids for the next 2 years until my sister was 18 and she pulled me out of the system. During that time we moved from foster home to foster home not staying more than a month, and I know that I was the cause. I had gotten into a lot of fights and was considered the “Problemed” child wherever I went. My sister, on the other hand, was the type of girl who was both popular and smart at the same time, never got into a fight not so much as hurling an insult at anyone who was bitchy to her. She just calmly ignored it and walked away. A few of the times we had to move homes I could tell that some of the adults were debating splitting us up, but my sister always stood by me never letting us be split apart. When Rene turned 18 she got a job working at a candy store on the main street of the town we lived in. She would come home late at night after working overtime and start studying to go to a good university, most of the time not going to bed until 1 in the morning. Fast forward 2 years I was 11 and still a problemed child while she was 20, a stunning beauty and was offered a job at a research company that was developing technology for the government. When she showed her plans to build these reactors to her superiors they jumped at the idea and got her funding for the next 6 years until she had perfected her reactor.

The author's narrative has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

During that time I was alone. Her time was taken by her job but I could see that if she had a choice that she would rather be with me than working, but Rene said we needed the money for my college fund. Since she had provided for me for all my life I have let her think that I wanted to go to college and just for her I would try to at least graduate. Since she wasn't home most of the time I developed an interest in games. My favorite was an MMO called Serpent Attack Online, it was a fantasy genre game where you could play as one of many races to stop a cult that was trying to revive the World-devouring serpent Jörmungandr. When I started playing it it was on its 13th expansion pack where the Demon lord enters the alliance between races because he wanted to be the one to destroy the world. Pretty stupid reason to team up with other people if you ask me.

I wished Rene would come home some nights so I customized my wizard support character to look and act like her, but it still didn't beat the real thing.

I can feel the world dimming and my breath getting shallower. Thinking to myself if I had known what would have happened tonight I would probably still have come just to save her and repay her loyalty and kindness to me throughout my life when no one else had. My only regret was I had not been very kind to her and was only dragging her down. I wish I had been a bit nicer to her was my last thought before the world faded to black.

My name is Ash Chandra and this is how I died.
