Stumbling over to the door way due to my healing leg i couldn't properly use, the muscle tissues were squirming and moving in ways that rendered them useless until they connected to each other

I finally reached the doorway and peered down at the two mutants that were currently fighting for dominance

The large rat that had been guarding the first floor was agile and maneuvered just enough to avoid being hurt

While it was fast and nimble its front leg was damaged enough to cause it to slow down significantly making it barely capable of avoiding the attacks of the mutated boar

The mutated boar was smaller than average but had compressed and muscular legs that seemed solid enough to resemble stone

Its fur was short all over its body except for a white mane that circled its neck and ran down its spine completely contrasting the brown hair all over the rest of its body

It charged at the rat that jumped from pillar to pillar destroying everything in its tracks and sticking close to its enemy

The battle was intense and fast paced leaving me amazed at how intense everything was

They seemed to only be tier 1s and this fight was so extraordinary, it scared me when I thought about the mutants that were a lot stronger than these two

I stood there amazed at how viscous these two creatures were being with each other

I continued to watch them try to kill each other for a few minutes before the rat finally slipped off the pillar it was about to jump from and was rammed into by the boar causing it to go flying and crashing into multiple other pillars before it collapsed leaving itself at the mercy of the boar

The boar seemed exhausted as it stood there panting instead of charging right towards the helpless rat

After a few moments the boar once again charged strait at the rat and impaled it with its fairly large horns ripping through its chest before the boar frantically shaked its head back and forth resulting in the body eventually ripping apart and organs ending up painted across the walls and floor

It was a gruesome sight to behold but i had grown numb to these types of horrors after growing up in this shitty world

After a few minutes the boar went up to the upper torso and began to feast on the meat and flesh that was mostly intact, it even bit down and swallowed the bones digesting everything that it possibly could, only leaving inner organs and blood that wouldn't benefit it

After it finished its meal it started looking about searching for anything that could endanger it

And it found me standing in an open doorway on the second floor

After watching me for a few seconds and sizing me up it decided to turn and leave as it had just finished a big meal and I didn't seem to be really worth the danger of sticking around a place covered in blood and organs

Looking down at my calf I was annoyed by the tissue that hadn't yet recovered enough for me to escape

A third mutant was bound to show up before I even had the chance to get to the building next door

'This fucking sucks'

I continued to stand there and watched the specks of flesh and blood slowly flow down the pillars, walls and debris before eventually settling on the dusty floor

...

I waited until my leg was just barely functional. as soon as it was I planned to leg it straight out of the building before any major predators came after me

Seconds seemed to last minutes and minutes stretched into hours. I became more and more anxious as nothing new seemed to happen, neither to my leg nor to the first floor

After what felt like eternity I could feel control in my toes again

That's was my signal to use my leg

I quickly checked my ability to use it by slowly putting more and more weight onto it until I knew it would hold for certain

after doing my final checks I turned around and bolted

I ran faster and faster without holding back, I continuously reassured myself before I was finally a couple of meters away from the broken window diagonal from another warehouse

I launched through the open window using the lower sill to launch up into the air before tucking my feet in, the glass had already been smashed leaving only the window sill

I felt everything slow down as I reached an apex mid air before I suddenly found myself slamming into the floor and rolling through a number of cubicle walls causing many miscellaneous items to fall down on me before I eventually stopped surrounded by a ton of debris

"Huhhhh. Huuuuhhhh"

My breathing felt laborious as I laid in a fetal position before I eventually started to slowly unclench all of my muscles and let my arms and legs down finally relaxing in a calm laying position

I continued to relax there for a little bit before I finally mustered up the energy to start getting up

I put my hands below me and started pushing myself up

As I got up off the ground I noticed multiple bruises and scars on my arms and hands as well as blood dripping down onto my arms and the floor

It seemed I had taken a real beating from crashing into the floor and those cubicle walls

"Huph... Huppphhhh"

'Did I over jump?'

I began worrying if I had put too much force into my jump and that was why I had hurt myself so badly

After I finally got on my knees I slumped and raised my head up to let more oxygen flow down my throat, I was trying to get as much air into my lungs as possible

It felt like I wasn't getting enough air no matter how much I tried, but that only went on for a few seconds until my body finally stopped feeling shocked

I could finally calm down and relax, the only thing that remained was the throbbing pain that came from all across my body, although they all hurt they were nothing compared to my leg which had been further cut and damaged due to my crash landing

I tried getting up but I fell face forwards, my leg couldn't hold me and none of the elixir that I had used would heal anything but my leg

Due to the small amount I used it would only heal my leg or it would start healing everything and take almost as long as it healing normally

I dragged my body over to one of the few intact cubicle walls and leaned against it as I relaxed and waited for my leg to re-heal back to how it was before I jumped through the window sill

I leaned my head backwards resting it against the wall and listened

I wanted to try and hear for any new mutants that might come to feast on the remains of the rat or might get drawn by the human blood I had left behind

After all all predators know that humans were the easiest prey to eat and hunt, especially since they could differentiate the smell of animals of different tiers they'd need to be wary of stronger creatures after all

I had nothing better than to wait, I waited for so long just to jump into this building so I could sit down and wait more

'This is annoyingly ironic'

All of that effort and I was in the exact same situation as a few minutes ago

My leg was finally able to function properly and luckily no predators had skulked around enough to find me hiding in the neighboring building, I could hear vicious fights happening next door

It would've been a different story if a mutant with a high sense of smell or tracking ability came, if that happened there wouldn't be any hope for survival no matter what I had in my satchel

"Cra"

I groaned softly as I pushed myself up onto my feet causing more blood to start flowing from my improperly formed calf, it only had the major muscles restored and had large dips and indents in different areas as well as dangling tissue, it would make a normal man want to bend over and empty the contents of their stomach

I pushed down on the floor with my toes as i lifted the heel of my shoe and turned it testing my leg

It moved but it was slow and stiff, it couldn't even turn more than a couple degrees in each direction before throbbing and being incapable of moving, it was the consequence of having an underdeveloped limb

'It's not perfect but it'll work'

Sighing I started walking to the other side of the building trying to get as far away from the original warehouse as possible

Although walking was easy there was still a slight limp in my step as it wasn't only the calf area which had been mutilated, even the lower knee was slightly damaged

Stopping I spotted a long piece of rebar with a bent end, it was perfect

I pulled it out of the rubble and put the bent part under my arm pit, it was almost identical to a crutch, now I could heal slightly and keep moving at the same time

While using the make shift crutch I made my way to the open window and stared down at the wall looking for an easy way down

I sighed and grabbed the long pole of the rebar and put the curved end around the least rusted pipe that also looked the sturdiest and let it dangle down

After securing the rebar to the pole I sat on the window sill and turned my body so my feet were dangling down

I slid my butt off the window sill and turned so I was facing towards the wall, I reached out and tightly grabbed onto the rebar crutch before holding tightly onto the wall and began crawling down

I slid my fingers and sneakers into the space between the bricks, it was unnaturally narrow and I could barely even fit a finger in there causing my footing and grip to be unstable and dangerous, luckily I had the rebar pole to compensate

After reaching halfway down my foot slipped and I almost fell straight down, the only thing that saved me was the very end tip of the rebar that I was desperately gripping, otherwise I would've fallen

After stabilizing my footing I quickly pushed the rebar up and unhooked it from the pipe that had been stabilizing me, after freeing it I dropped it and climbed down as far as I could before slipping and falling down a few meters onto my ass

"Ohfff!... This is the worst day ever"

I lamented on how shitty my entire day had been before standing up and walking over to the rebar that I had thrown far enough away not to end up landing on

After picking it up I made my way down the intricate alleyways between the warehouse buildings avoiding any space big enough for a large mutant to fit in case predators were still heading back that way
