CH 28: My savior

CH 28: My savior

'So much trouble to get back where I started'

I found it rather amusing in a way

All of the struggling and pain from those shit plants all to get right back to exactly where it began

The dirt and broken concrete crumbled under shoes as I dropped back down onto the alleyways floor

"Shuuuu. Fuuuuuu"

I took a large and deep breath of fresh air as I happily excepted my escape from that apartment

Just as I was about to casually walk off my body lost control

I fell to my knees and lightning shot through my veins

'S-shit. the r-rebar!'

I didn't know what it was poking but it was unbearable to say the least

I could feel my muscles spasming as my body ripped itself apart

It took a minute for me to regain my bodies control but even then every part of me continued shaking uncontrollably

'I won't be able to make it back like this. Fuck'

I lowered my left hand and used my right arm to steady it

Once it was in place I slowly made my way into the wound trying my best not widen it

My fingers sunk into my flesh causing a small tingling feeling to coat my fingers

I gripped the rebar before to long but it was on a weird angle with it now pointing towards my mid section

Feeding my fingers deeper into my stomach I tried to get a stable grip on the rebar but the blood caused my fingers to slip as it poured out more uncontrollably than before

'I have to do this q-quickly'

My mind was starting to feel fuzzy, maybe it was due to blood loss or the exhaustion that was finally catching up to me

After a few tries of grasping the rebar I gave up and tried taking it out from the other direction

The rebar had pierced all the way through my body after all, that meant there were two holes for it to escape through

Reaching around my body I quickly found a part poking out of my back, it was the perfect size to grip onto

I quickly gripped it and prepared myself

One quick pull will be the least painful and the fastest

After steeling my will I pulled with all my strength expecting it to come out with ease

"Ahhhh!"

I easily slid out half but it wouldn't come out any further

"Clshhh"

A large amount of blood poured out of the front of me creating a pool that surrounded my feet

'Hehe. h.ow am I s.ti.ll al.ive?'

The amount of blood I had been losing ever since I was impaled must've been around half but I was still standing

I truly was an unstoppable force, haha

I continued to try and rip the rebar out as I stumbled my way throughout the alleyway

From time to time I would blackout for a few seconds before finding myself walking in a completely different area

'How l.ong have I been wa.lking for?'

My thoughts were les groggy than before as if I had achieved some kind of lucid dreaming state as I tottered between the blackouts

Before I knew it I was standing at the edge of the bases clearing with a bloody rebar in my left hand and my right hand pressed against the front of my wound

'Oh. i'm s.o cl.ose? Wh.en d.id t.his happe.n?'

"Oi fucker! What're you doing over there?"

I turned to the voice but my sight was so fuzzy I couldn't tell or even make out who it was

'Go.lden h.air? A b.it.ch?'

As she got closer I recognized her

'Je.ssi.ca?'

"Are you gonna keep me waiting for an answer you shit?"

I took a step towards her and felt my body give up

My final memory was of the rocky ground being only a few centimeters from my nose before everything finally went black

'M.y bod.y ga.ve o.u.t?'

...

[Jessica POV]

The hunt had finally ended when we subdued a large group of worker ants

Although they were tier 2 and below their teamwork and group size made it difficult for us to hunt them without an annoying battle

'If only those fucking scouts did their job. I knew that loud mouth was worthless'

The reason the attack squad had a harder time than usual was because the scouts didn't properly investigate the number of worker ants in the area

"Wow. That was so tiring"

James was complaining as he pulled out a snack bar to munch on as he relaxed

I reached out and quickly snatched it from him before taking a large bite of it to fill my stomach

"Hmm? Chocolate chips?"

"Oh come on Jess. That was mine"

As he light heartedly complained he pulled out a second energy bar with the grace of a seasoned conman

"Don't play naïve. U knew I was going to do that"

"Huh? How could you think that? I just wanted to enjoy my one and only chocolate chip energy bar, but you took it from me like a cold hearted demon!"

As he spoke a playful tone could be heard as he frequently switched tones to imitate the fake emotions he was displaying

" Tch. I'll never understand what goes on in that empty head of yours, dipshit"

"Oh please, the pot calling the kettle black much"

Annoyed I gave up talking to him, he always seemed so flippant except when absolutely necessary like in a fight

"By the way Jess, where's Dick at?"

Pausing I quickly looked around

"Now that I think of it, I haven't seen him since we were at the base"

"Hmm. I see"

After quenching his thirst for curiosity he stopped caring

"Emotionless fucker"

"Huh? How could you say that to your bestfriend?!"

"Best friend? Go fuck yourself. My bestfriend is obviously Dick, not you"

"Tch, I'm a way better pick"

"Such a delusional person, aren't you?"

Before he could respond I promptly walked off waving back at him heading towards the collection area

The attack squad was split into three categories

The scouting force which gathers intel and ensures the battle is safe enough for the attack squad to take on

The main attack force that confronts the mutants and wages the battles

Finally the collecting team, they would go through all the different mutants that were killed and find ones with suitable parts to take back with them

All the useful products were carried around in a rectangle that closely resembled a backpack

This backpack was exchanged between the collection team as it was heavier than solid stone making the stamina consumption extremely high as it would only get heavier from there

The good point of the backpack was Its large amount of room that put even medium sized storage cubes to shame

Due to its immense costs it was a group purchase made by those that ran the base so as to make hunting more efficient

As I walked past the collectors that dismantling the corpses I looked for the leader, Nathan

He was the strongest in the whole base, a tier 3 mutant

While he's extremely powerful to us I heard that in the main cities most people reach tier 3 by my age, and those are the one's that are only have average talent

I was getting more and more excited about going to the academy in the capital

I heard the city is as big as twelve mountains lined up

'Oh god. Please let there be a badass looking guy there, one that would be way stronger than me'

I could feel myself drooling causing me to quickly escape from my fantasy

Focusing I found Nathan and went up to him
