I made my way through the corridors searching the base, I kept looking for an hour trying my best to not think or get trapped in my mind

Turning around, my eyes met with a short blonde haired girl with blue eyes, she was about five and a half feet tall making her almost half a head shorter than me

"Lucas, where have you been?"

Her smile beamed like the sun and I could see the genuine worry in her eyes

"I've just been awfully busy. But don't worry, Charlotte's been keeping me in line"

at the mention of Charlotte Emma suddenly started laughing

"of course she would, if you misbehaved she would've kicked your ass by now. Hehehe"

Emma was the closest thing I had to a sibling here. She was like a big sister to me

Hearing her retort I took a small step back, I knew she wouldn't actually shoot me but she would at least hold a gun to my head

I could see she was getting slightly pissed as her eyes narrowed, this was a great indicator that I should run as soon as possible

"I think I'm feeling kinda sleepy sooo. Have fun staying awake all night guarding whatever it is you do"

The space around her hands warped as indescribable warm colors flowed from her skin pores causing the world to glitch for a few seconds before it finally settled and embers of fire started flickering out of her hands

After a second the embers changed into full blown fire balls that completely swallowed her hands as if two small torched had been lit

"Shit!"

I turned around stumbling in the process as i quickly made my escape towards the closest corner to save myself from being burnt alive

As I quickly ran down the corridor a burning ball flew past me, only a few inches from my ear

"Furahhhh"

"Are you actually trying to kill me?"

"You deserve this asshole!"

I kept quickening my pace and spotted the first corner on my right as yet another fire ball threatened me with death

"Farrhhh"

My foot slipped and I slid down the corridor stopping near the corner before I quickly squirmed and scrambled my way around the wall as a fire ball slammed into it and the floor where I had been seconds ago

"Furshhh"

I leaned against the wall and huffed a sigh of relief as the fire crackled in place

Unlike ordinary fire the flames crackled in place not burning anything around it whilst it stayed the same size for a minute before quickly shrinking and snuffing itself out as if it had never been there

"We can talk this out Emma!"

"Why should we?"

"Cause I obviously don't wanna fucking die!"

"Furshhh"

A line of flames engulfed the opposite wall like a wave swallowing everything it got near

"You might not want to die but you definitely should've, preferably at birth!"

As she kept screaming I slowly backed away further and further from the corner to make sure I wouldn't 'accidentally' get burned

"Hey Emma, are you mad because of 'that'?"

The fireballs paused for a minute

"What are you talking about? what's 'that'?"

Stifling a giggle I yelled at the top of my lungs so it would echo throughout the entire base for everyone to hear

"Isn't it your time of the month Emma?"

As soon as I finished speaking I felt a freezing sensation crawl down from my skull all the way down to my tail bone causing cold sweat to start drenching every inch of me

I knew she created fire and yet it felt as if she was freezing me alive

"I'm gonna fucking kill you when I get my hands on you Lucas!"

'I fucked up. this was by far the worst idea I ever had in my life, the very life that Emma was about to end with her burning hands'

While I was still safe around the corner I quickly started bolting down the corridor and randomly turning down different hallways trying my best to lose her as soon as possible

After a few minutes I finally stopped running and relaxed my body against the wall panting for breath

'I should be safe. for an hour at least... hopefully'

My thoughts started out hopeful but quickly became depressing

Before my thoughts could become even sadder I took a deep breath and started walking normally down the corridor, I didn't have a destination in mind

But hopefully where ever I ended up would have a hiding place good enough to keep me alive for even a second longer

'Maybe I should go back and sleep in that container again tonight, haha'

I had overcome that life changing event and now it had become nothing more than a joke to me

I could still hear the almost quiet sound of fire being thrown even though I had run far away from Emma

'I don't think I should hide at all, maybe i should just keep walking all night or she might find and kill me in my sleep'

"Sigh. maybe I should stop teasing her back... No. she deserves it"

Coming around a corner I found myself in a long hallway with the left wall made out of glass

Beyond the glass there was a massive farmland filled with thousands of crops all being grown to feed everyone that was living in the base, it was built underneath the open barren land beside the base to save on room and be as efficient as possible

There were tens of men in overalls all tending to the garden, some watering, some

sowing the soil, some planting seed and some were even pulling out fully grown crops

No matter how many men were working in the field they still looked like tiny worker ants compared to the giant open field

"Beep. Beep."

"Your shift has ended, please leave the field in the next nine minutes or you will be forcefully removed"

As soon as the speaker reverberated through the field the gardeners quickly started making their way towards the different large doors leaving the field
