I threw the rebar over the railing with all my strength causing it to disappear in a matter of seconds before a loud clanging sound echoed throughout the entire building
Sitting up I pulled my satchel away from my side and pulled out the transparent vial filled with viscous yellow liquid
"Gulp"
preparing myself I grasped the small cork that stopped the liquid from leaving the vial
Opening the vial a thick and musty smell filled my nostrils and caused my brain to start throbbing
As the smell assaulted my nostrils and brain I quickly brought it to my wound and poured a few drops over my wound causing the smell of blood to disappear replaced with and old rusty smell that didn't assault my brain
After applying a few drops to the wound on the front and back of my body I quickly sealed the vial and placed it back into my satchel
It took a few minutes before my brain stopped hurting but the smell that came from the mixture of the viscous yellow liquid and my blood created a mellow calming scent that soothed my throbbing head
'Ahhh, much nicer'
As I sat there relaxing to the calming scent I thought about what I should do next
The staircase had collapsed and I'm now injured so I can't make it to the next floor
There are carnivorous plants down at the bottom of the building so I can't escape through the entrance
'What can I do then?'
Laying there I tried thinking up a good plan for my escape but nothing came to mind
'Wait? Can't I just climb out through this floors windows?'
The idea was so stupidly obviously I wondered why I didn't think about it earlier
Pushing my battered body up I barely made it to my feet as every breathe caused a stabbing pain to shoot throughout my body due to the lodged rebar inside of me
'Fuck my luck'
While I was annoyed I slowly stumbled my way towards the closest apartment door
When I reached it I tried the door knob but unsurprisingly the residents locked it when they were alive
'Nothing can ever be easy for me, can it?'
I was getting more and more annoyed by the second as it seemed like the whole world was putting up obstacles against me
Taking a few steps back I charged back at the door and slammed into it with all my strength
"Doof"
My shoulder slammed into the door and stopped me in my tracks without even budging
"Huphhh"
Rubbing my shoulder I backed up and charged into the door again and again
Before long the door had cracks growing on it like old black moss
After a few more rams it would break into hundreds of different pieces letting me pass by easily

Just as I was about to take a step back I felt a searing pain where the rebar was
"CRrrrr"
A silent scream escaped between my locked teeth as the rebar poked something it shouldn't have
After all the sudden running and stopping trying to break the door the rebar inside of me had slowly moved in a way that caused me immense pain
Now it hurt even when I held my breath
'Why did I use all of the elixir? If I didn't I wouldn't be in so much pain"
Even though I knew I had to use it back then I still hated myself because I was suffering and couldn't create any excuse that would make it less painful
Unable to ram the door anymore I clenched my fist and punched it again and again
It took around five punched for the hard door to finally cave in creating a hole big enough for me to squeeze through
"Sigh. Finally"
Lifting my leg with care I slid it through the hole and onto the floor on the other side before I stepped through into the apartment with a little difficulty
After making it inside the apartment I looked back towards the door that was sturdier then it should have been
The door had been nailed shut by broken wooden pieces stretched across it and and metal pipes that had been screwed into the door frame preventing it from opening and stabilizing its structure
'Of course it had to be barricaded'
Sighing inwardly I took a quick look around the living room finding a bookshelf with its shelves broken off and gone as well as holes holes in the walls where bricks, rebar and pipes had been ripped out to reinforce the weak parts of the apartment
"Whew! now that's kinda impressive"
Impressed I let out a short whistle as I admired their handiwork of protecting their house, from what it looked like the barriers still kept them safe to this day
As much as I was impressed with their work it also annoyed my, It seemed like they had bricked up the windows by creating their own concrete within the apartment walls judging by the massive but dried up aquarium that had lost half of its sand
As I stumbled Into the next room I found a Scrap table that was propped up by books and other miscellaneous Items as most of its legs had been repurposed into weapons and barricades, probably after the first ones broke
'How long did you survive?'
Walking up to the table I found a number of different maps and pieces of paper that had been scribbled on
Although old and rotting the map seemed to be of the city and it had multiple places that were circled and labeled as well as an X marking the current place I was in
'Shopping center, Storage facility, Industrial storage, Stores'
They were all marked with an experts precision and careful foot notes that made one think they regularly explored
I carefully read over the notes correcting it and guessing some of the letters that had faded out of existence since a long time ago
Industrial facility. Large horde of zombies regularly surround this area preventing me from collecting materials to build more weapons. Do not go near
Shopping area. A mutant zombie had been spotted so I can't go near there anymore. Don't worry, we have enough supplies to look for a new source
Storage facility. It's become almost completely empty, start looking for a new source of food
'Empty? He must've been living within this city for a few years to be able to empty out an entire warehouse of supplies'
I pushed and slid a few papers to the side revealing a small booklet that only looked large enough to write small notes
Picking it up I skimmed through it making sure I didn't accidentally rip the weak pages
'Plan A, B, C, D, E?'
There were a number of different plans that all showed different ways for him to survive, It seemed like good ways to stay self sustained in that time
The only disturbing part was the different notes at the bottom of the page
'Oh, he expanded outside of his apartment and into others, maybe he even colonized this entire floor'
Plan B. Farm has shriveled and died within the apartment next door. Moving the farm outside of the apartment, most optimal place would be the first floor. Must reinforce the front doorway and secure the windows before farming begins
'Farming? On the first floor?'
"FUCK! So that's why those fuckers are thriving down there"
Walking towards the wall I carefully scrutinized the clean wall that had, plan b in large text with small detailed writing underneath
Similar plans were written all over the walls
Some were written with lead, some with pen and a few other mediums that caused the room to stink ever so slightly
Plan C, Raise dogs and other creatures that have survived by themselves thus far. Some animals like chickens have been collected and placed in the third floor
Plan D, Recycling my own Excrement's and purifying them seems to be working well, taste's like well shit but the farm will start producing crops soon so I can hold on for a little longer
Plan E. The plants are acting weird and the crops aren't appearing and my body is shutting down. I have to but don't want to, please don't make me eat the zombies. Please Please Please
'It seemed like he had a break down and was forced to eat mutated creatures flesh, I wonder if he died because of that?'
